Held up pretty well in the SEC. I don’t know as much about Gonzalez other than he was rated higher. But wtf does that ever mean? Read up a lot on Forbes because 75 percent of mock drafts had us taking him at 16.

It’s a bad first round pick .. could have got him in second round .. Ron has messed up..

Absolutely no way Forbes was making it to 47. Wouldn’t have made it out of the first. You will be pleasantly surprised Rik.

From Keim:

Forbes is a smart player; made plays because of instincts -- which comes from being smart/studying. Playmaker.

He supposedly is the smartest and most instinctive DB in the draft, fatten his ass up.

Go with Avila G outta TCU @ 47.

I gotta stop looking at simulated mocks. Avila listed as Kipers 14th best available but always there at 47 in simulations. Guess it’s about the same.

No ands ifs or buts Forbes was a reach, a big one. Reaches can work out, but the odds are against it (Just ask the Raiders).

No way was he a big reach. Not even a reach. He was definitely a first round talent. And we need a Corner. He is better than Porter.

I'd put Forbes on a McDonald's diet of hamburgers, french fries, and milk shakes. Then we might have have something special.

We were 28th in INTs and play mostly zone. Forbes loves INTs and specializes in zone coverage. Based on who was available, I think he's a very solid pick.

[emoji817] EB in the room. Amazing TE’s all there. Oline has holes. They know what they got in Forbes.
Now we need to go OLINE at 47 no matter what.

Not watching one bit of NCAA and not studying draft prospects, I do say that in all humility, but with the amount of "sure thing baller" 1st round busts, and surprise late rounds studs, I'm always a bit perplexed with the level of certitude some of you guys seem to have regarding these picks.

Once it settles down, the consensus on this board always seems to be "we'll only really know a few years down the road"...

CB in the first round makes sense, it's a need, weight is an interrogation but it's not like the guy was projected to be a 3 round pick either, "let's hope it pans out" is all I can come up with for now.

He is the clear cut starter day 1 opposite Fuller. Wont take more than a few games. Corners are pretty much different in that they are thrown in the fire right away, like a quarterback. They cant blend in, or hide until we find out what they are made of. He will be on an island. And he will be a rock star. Think Carlos Rogers but with hands made of pillows instead of stones.

Looks like poor Will Levis not going to make it the first round, unless somebody moves up from the 2nd round to the last couple picks.

Re: NFL Draft Thread
He was definitely not a big reach
The reasons he was a big reach is that there was a consensus steal at the same position. Additionally the consensus had Forbes ranked as the 4-5th ranked CB which means more likely than not he would have been available 10-20 picks lower. IMO that combined with passing on the consensus steal makes it a big reach.

That said reaches can work out and steals can flop but you're not playing the odds well if you are going for the reach.

Based on who was available????? Gonzalez was available so no he definitely was not a solid pick.

They work at getting additional future picks we don't (nor do most of our fans want us too - it's all about now screw next year or any future years).
