Excited about his deep ball and instincts on when to throw it. I'd like to see him play a little more this weekend v. Miami.

Me too, it was a beauty. Only thing that bothers me a little is word that he checked out of a screen pass. Quinn sounded a bit on the fence about his freelancing. On the one hand it was the right call and an excellent play. On the other he hadn't been given free reign to audible. So, yes you want a guy who can see that opportunity and exploit it. But you don't want a guy that's going to wind up the coaches doing his own thing too often. I'm hoping this is purely a sign that he's trying to show them what he can do and they're happy to carry on as is. I'm hoping its not a sign he's a prima donna. |

Me thinks he wasn't given the approval because we are so early in the process and they wanted to keep it simple. Once the season starts he may well be given the OK to audible, in fact I'd expect it. But yeah if it's a bigger picture problem of the player constantly overruling the coaching staff yeah that could be an issue. |

it was a heck of a catch as well |
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
D2D - Daniels to Dyami. They are building some chemistry. It started on the practice field and it carried over into the game with his first completion.
B Sinnott gave us a glimpse of what he brings to the table too. Running game looked solid with three O-linemen out. I don't think there were any NYJ starters out there though so I can't get too excited about all that, but it could have been worse. Apparently, we still don't have a kicker... :( |
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
We just signed Martavis Bryant to the roster. Yes, that same WR from Steelers. Kinda surprised by this since we don't have a huge need in WR, wouldn't be surprised if we release him before week 1 tho.

Top Gun 1 & 2, are 2 of the best movies of all times. Jayden Maverick Daniels. He's dangerous.

So Martavius Bryant is the newest signing. Why?

Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
Maybe its just to give Dotson a kick up the a$$. AS was said elsewhere, he looks like he's either #2 on the depth (if he pulls his socks up) or he's out of the door. DQ said he liked what he saw from Bryant when he was with the Cowboys, and he was a good player until he got suspended/injured. Purely insurance at this point, but if he's rejuvenated...

He was suspended from the 2016 through 2018 seasons for violating the League's illegal drugs policy. After that, he's had a few NFL opportunities that didn't work out for him. He is now 32 years old. I don't understand this move at all unless he can kick field goals. Despite the above, I wish him well. Dotson and Forbes should find a flag football league where they can play. |
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
This seems like just a depth signing for purposes of the preseason. It's hard to imagine this guy making the team. Really not much to see here, I would think.

Any signing during this time of the year is basically this, no need to overthink or overreact about it. |

Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
I think Bryant is more than just a camp body/depth guy, it's a clear signal something is up in the WR room. Dotson playing considerably more snaps than anyone else against the Jets is another clue. His seat may not be hot but it's warming up.

Could the FO have been showcasing Dotson in the Jets game? |

Or they're just trying to figure out how he fits in this offense... reportedly Kingsbury favors big WRs or speed guys... Dotson really isn't either one. I'd still be surprised if he isn't on the week 1 roster. |

4.43 is pretty quick.

He's plenty fast he's just not a burner that you always have to worry about taking the top off a defense. |
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
I really hope dotson turns it around. He's a local kid for me. So last year i bit the bullet and got his jersey. Loved his reels coming out of college...i know that doesnt always translate to nfl success, but im really hoping everything works out for him here and he and terry provide a 1-2 punch at receiver.
|
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
Haven't been on in a while but Love what I saw from JD and the OL in limited action saturday!

This is a huge year for him and think he knows this. Definitely will be a player to keep a real close eye on.

Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
Ouch, Quinn just confirmed that the team is still figuring out who is the #2 WR.

This team sucked last year. Aside from a few players (JD, Terry, Allen/Payne) no one is a lock. |

100%. Like Matty said, his seat isn't hot but it's definitely getting warm. They might give him a few games but he's on a short leash. I still have faith in him but he has to start producing. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he started producing and they traded him. Sell high if Kingsbury doesn't like him. |
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
I felt like they should have tried to keep Samuel. Especially if you are bringing in a guy who hasn't played since 2018.
|
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
WR is probably one of the last position groups I'm concerned about this year.

Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
I think I read or heard something about Quinn being unhappy with Dotson failing to build up his body during the offseason because Dotson is supposedly knocked off balance by stronger CBs and thereby unable to make some catches. Is that a fact or am I just geezing again?
|

Could be partly that, but based on what DQ has said recently it seems to be more about trying to light a fire under Dotson's ass to hustle more and the importance of what he's doing away from the ball. Sounds like it's an effort thing. |

Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
well, this staff didn't pick dotson and they don't owe him anything, but it'd be sad to throw away yet another pick.
Hoping we sign a kicker. I imagine not getting a #1 CB is just going to be a thing the team has to deal with this year (can't fix everything). And while the OL hasn't looked bad, it's vanilla preseason and I'm not sure yet. JD not holding the ball as long (as SH) is probably going to make a difference though. |
Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024
i'm more concerned about kicker vs wide receiver, but I hope they're waiting on cuts from other teams. There's a few teams that have 2 kickers right now. The Titans have 2, one of them is Nick Folk and the other kid kicked a 59 yarder last week or so. Either one of them I would be fine with lol.

Not sure what Carolina's kicker situation is but we are 2nd in line. This is where I am looking as well. |

I just saw that Jordan Mcgee had to have knee surgery? No timetable for return?
That hurts after the great camp he'd been having ugh wtf |

Our Kicker situation is friggin' pathetic. This guy they traded for doesn't seem any better than the last two - on paper...
