Marshon Lattimore would be nice too
Saints have to be in blow it up mode you would think
My only hesitation with Lattimore is his discipline. I've seen WRs get under his skin quickly wayyy to many times. Can't deny the talent though, from that perspective he'd be a great addition. |
Re: Potential trades
Not to mention availability. He's only played 18 games in the last 3 seasons. I'd rather go with Ward if we're investing draft capital, or Newsome for that matter.
|
Re: Potential trades
Ward, Newsome, and Lattimore would be upgrades, each with pros and cons. But upgrades nonetheless. I'm actually not that fussed about our WRs. I continue to think that we could rely on Noah Brown and Luke McCaffrey more -- McCaffrey isn't on the field a lot, but when he is, he's either blocking well or open. Obviously, the way our offense is humming, far be it for me to second-guess. But I am not convinced that WR is nearly as great a need as CB and DE. I am feeling good about O-line. We held the team leading the NFL to 0 sacks. Coleman is really owning the LT position, and Lucas is a very capable backup (although not healthy at the moment). Amazing how the O line went from one of the very worst to among the best in a season.
Adam Peters is a magician. |
Re: Potential trades
I agree and the key for me is, who do we trade for if pursuing OL and WR? Who's worth the trade capital. Upgrading CB is a universally identified need for us, and there are guys out there that WANT to play for us. Even DE, if we can persuade maybe the Giants to give up Ojulari (their season is done and they won't face him again), or prise another good DE from a losing team (except CY...)?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
apparently its unlikely due to cap implications that they move him: https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2024/11/4/24287866/marshon-lattimore-trade-rumors-nfl-deadline-2024-new-orleans-saints-salary-cap Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |
Re: Potential trades
Lattimore
Hope there would be around the cap hit for them and transfer it to us for the next two years. 18 million a year is not a bad rate for a top-rated cornerback. |
Re: Potential trades
I'm seeing whispers on Twitter about Lattimore en route. Saw a picture of DQ and Lattimore, supposedly at Naw'leans airport. Also saw another one of Lattimore at Dulles. Really hard to tell tbh, they could be faked, etc. Guess we'll know tomorrow by 4 pm.

I don't think either of those were legit. Just troll accounts. I'm pro trade, as long as it's the right character for for this team and not a rental. The chemistry is so good with this team right now it's unbelievable. |
Re: Potential trades
Per CBS Sports Coms may send Forbes to Cin in trade for rookie WR: "It's possible the Bengals could trade rookie receiver Jermaine Burton -- who was a healthy scratch during Sunday's win over the Raiders -- in a trade involving Forbes."
p.s. Burton is said to be a legitimate deep threat and a notorious problem child. He might be a risk worth taking for a ham sandwich named Forbes. |

I think Forbes only gets traded, along with picks, for a starting CB. I also think that if you are a winning team looking to add a player, you are getting a proven player, not a rookie WR4. |
Re: Potential trades
Burton has a lot of talent but may bring some baggage. He was a no call, no show in Cincy recently leading to him being inactive. His draft bio states he is physical and has good speed. He clearly has talent and like the SEC experience at Georgia and Bama. Will be interesting to see if this goes down.

I don't think we're that desperate at WR to bring someone like that IMO. In the end, in Adam Peters we trust, so if he decides to bring him in so be it. I just personally don't see it. |
Re: Potential trades
I’ll be surprised if we trade for anyone of consequence. Maybe some depth but I don’t see us change our plans. If we can get a good player for a 3rd or 4th rounder; we’ll do it. If not, then we won’t.

:laughing2 and I saw Dan Snyder eating Ron Rivera's cat in Springfield Ohio. Seriously, my concern with Lattimore is his injury history. He's had significant problems with both hamstrings since college. But it all depends on the price. 4th rounder? |

Burton may just need a new change of scenery and some time. Troubled wrs have worked out very well for KC (Hill, Toney).

Re: Potential trades
Lattimore's injury history:
https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/marshon-lattimore/9511 Yes, he's been hurt some. He's been fine this year and don't view his injuries as checkered enough to not pursue. Offer the 3rd now or even a better a 4th if they accept. |
Re: Potential trades
Lattimore is not gunna happen imo, cap hit huge to Saints, plus, they dont do stuff like this
|
Re: Potential trades
Dallas trades for a wide receiver:
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/cowboys-trade-for-wr-jonathan-mingo I liked this kid coming out of college. He'll certainly help them but doubt their season turns around much. |
Re: Potential trades
So after giving a 4th for Trey Lance, Jerry gives a 4th for an end of bench WR
Lance not even the 2nd QB in Dallas. |
Re: Potential trades
Lattimore is DC bound!!
|

Huge!

AND IT HAPPENED!!! |
Re: Potential trades
Full trade, per sources:
🏈New Orleans gets: -Washington 3rd-round pick -Washington 4th -Its 6th back from the John Ridgeway trade 🏈Washington gets: -Marshon Lattimore -Saints’ 5th-round pick |
Re: Potential trades
Nice move!
|
Re: Potential trades
Trading for Lattimore is probably the most impactful move the Commanders could have made to strengthen the team for the rest of this season. We're definitely going for it now!

JK LOL Love the move solidifies a weakness!! Wow Peters is the man. |

Re: Potential trades
Nice move! Lattimore didn't play well lately as he used to in the past, but I imagine DQ and Whitt will come up with schemes that will help Lattimore return to his best form.
|
Re: Potential trades
Bullshit, i dont believe that
|
Re: Potential trades
Good take from Sam Fortier:
@Sam4TR Commanders adding Marshon Lattimore changes the whole defense. Joe Whitt Jr. can put Benjamin St-Juste on WR2s, move Mike Sainristil back inside and be more aggressive / stop the pass better out of single high. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk |
Re: Potential trades
Holy crap, I will gladly eat my words! Nothing says confidence in how real our success is than our new GM shipping multiple pics for a star
|
Re: Potential trades
We will see how this trade is eventually graded and how it all pans out, but it's hard to not like it. We basically traded Jahan Dotson and a fourth round pick for a #1 CB who we have control over for the next two and a half years. Throw in the fact that we get a 5th for a 6th on top of that, and I'm more than good with this.
|
Re: Potential trades
Well, guess I was wrong. We are going to need him right away.
|
Re: Potential trades
Draft is supposed to be very weak this year-can't post the link yet- Getting a star CB with what we gave up is a steal. I would love to see a veteran OT as insurance for a very late draft choice.

Also, it looks like we still have the 3rd rounder we got from Philly for the Dotson trade, which is huge IMO. |
Re: Potential trades
Frankly to compete with the eagles (and Dallas) we needed a huge upgrade to our CB's. We got slaughtered by the eagle WRs last year. So rather than hoping for wild card, they just evened our odds. This is likely a NFC East specific move, and the only one that would have moved the needle. Eagles in 9 days. That is a tall order, hope he's smart!
|
Re: Potential trades
Another interesting tidbit:
@AdamSchefter The Saints previously restructured Marshon Lattimore’s contract, meaning Washington is getting the Pro Bowler on a minimum contract for the rest of this season. |
Re: Potential trades
Our remaining picks are a little lite:
Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 (from PHI) Round 5 (from NOLA) Round 7 Round 7 (from PHI) Round 7 (from PHI) He is under contract for 2 years at a pretty high amount, but with all our cap space, that won't be an issue at all. And he will be CB1 in every game he plays for us, for at least the rest of this season (depending on the draft). He is only 28, so this is a solid risk for a team that all the sudden looks like it can win now. |
