Not sure O line coaching will help much when the players are so substandard. But that is our biggest weakness.
Wasn’t too focused on it, but Amos seemed like he had a decent game. Overall, Purdy had good numbers but they were below his season average (except for completion percentage). I thought the 9ers called a fairly conservative game once they had a good lead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It sucks that Conerly has dipped to average after a hot start. When Cosmi came back after his concussion I thought that right side was going to look solid. |

Kurt Warner has a really good breakdown of JD's game on Monday night. JD had a good game but definite room for improvement. I suspect he isn't settling in the pocket because he's skittish from the o-line not giving him time, this is affecting him on plays where he does have enough time in the pocket to find the open receiver, set his feet and make an accurate throw. Warner highlights how receivers are getting open but JD isn't seeing them or isn't trusting his instincts. Yes he settled in Monday night and had a solid game but there was definitely several plays where he took the easy checkdown despite open receivers being open downfield. I don't think he trusts the o-line to give him enough time to find the longer developing routes. |

And I do worry that it will cause JD5 to develop some bad habits (and given his time on IR, it's understandable). |

He's just not cutting it loose. As Warner said, " do you want to be great?" If you do then cut the ball loose, let the plays develop. Aikman was pointing this out on Mon that he had guys open downfield. |

It's not a good group at all but holding the team back is going too far. If he just throws the post route on that first part of the video that is an easy 7 points. We got no points on that drive. Warner points out it's mentality. The great QB's throw that ball for an easy TD. This is why JD needed to play at the end of last year. This is why he needed game reps in pre season. They treat him like he is a 10 year vet that's been in the same offense. |

It's great if you can watch back on the all 22 but if not it is fantastic analysis. Blough's play calling leads a lot to be desired and JDs decision making as well. Lot's of wrong reads, leading Fred Warner with his eyes. Some confusion on the receivers as well quite often ending in the same spot. Suter addressed the checkdowns, this has been a common them with JD he refuses to even make eye contact with the first read. |
Re: Just another loss post game who gives a fuck thread
It's easy to see how the OL is impacting JD quite a bit. He definitely seems rushed in making his reads. You can see how he's looking to get out of the pocket and run prematurely. All said though he dropped 300 on a top defense with no turnovers. He's young and still developing in a new offense with a green OC, not the best circumstances.

no run game either |

and not much of a defense but all the talking heads want to do is pick apart JD like he's a scrub |
Re: Just another loss post game who gives a fuck thread
You know, and despite some of my own recent rants, I think things aren't as bad as we think. Consider:
1. We lost to Philly (in Philly) by 2 in week 1 (and before they lost Hurts). Even though we didn't play all that well (offense was very slow to get moving), it was a tight game. 2. We lose to Dallas after JD5 goes out -- and the game only got out of hand thereafter (and after a few horrible calls by the refs). 3. We beat last year's champs (Seattle) at home. 4. We lose to Indy -- again, after Mariota goes out injured. 5. We tie NY -- admittedly a game we had no business failing to win. 6. We lose by 6 to the best team in the league (in their stadium) with a chance to win in the last minute that slipped through our fingertips (literally). Our record isn't great (ad we knew the first part of the season would be rough), but I am coming around to the idea that the sky isn't falling. We were a few plays away from winning 3 of these games (Philly, NYG, SF), and QB injuries hobbled us for the other 2 (DAL, IND). To be clear, I am not saying our O line is good -- it isn't. And I am not saying the injuries aren't really concerning -- they are. But the only 2 games where we weren't competitive were the ones where our QBs were injured during the game (and, I would add, they were far from the only injuries we were dealing with). If they show up on Nov. 1 at home against Philly and lay an egg, then I'll have a hard time believing that all isn't lost. (Not to mention, I will be at the game (my first in years), and I'll be mightily pissed.) But I think I've convinced my self not to panic just yet. That said, I definitely want to see them do something to improve our O line performance (no idea what that could be). To me, that is the thing holding us back the most right now as we haven't been consistently sustaining drives and keeping our D off the field (not to mention, we've gotten our top two QBs nearly murdered). With just average O line play, I think we're in a materially different place. Gibbs always understood this -- the year they won the Superbowl with Rypien, he was sacked only 7 times during the entire season. For those who don't remember, it was like sandlot football -- guys running around forever until someone got open. Imagine if JD5 -- a more talented QB than Rypien, Williams, or Theismann -- had that kind of time. Anyway, a little breathing room, and then time to shit-stomp Philly.
Great post. Also, there is one thing that I believe that DQ isn't getting enough credit for - the team is still strong together and believes in each other, despite all the issues and outside noise. We haven't seen this since maybe Gibbs 2.0 - this team would immediately folded as soon as JD is out or made some mistakes if Rivera, Zorn or Gruden is still our coach. Although, unfortunately, this achievement alone is not enough as winning is part of the expectations so DQ must find a way to achieve this. |

We could easily be 3-3, but we're not.
It's not over but it's time to start closing out some wins. |
We could easily be 3-3, but we're not.

Can they squeeze out a team that can play 60 minutes of football on all phases? Can the defense stop allowing those big plays that basically allow the other team to ultimately win? Can they get our players to actually pay attention to situational football and to stop making penalties that costs us, potential points? That is a lot to expect from this team. The Eagles game next should be a win but I expect Dan to have us coming out of the bye, flat. We should beat a weakened Eagles team but I think we hand them victory. If that happens, he should be fired on the spot. |
