I have a bad feeling that this one won't be able to repeat the success of the previous series but then again Spider Man and Batman are easily the best Super Heroe's left when it comes to making movies.

That doesn't count. Thats a group. No one see's a movie called Professor X, or Wolverine Orgins, or Magneto's Way, or Rougeface. However put together an X-Men movie and it's money in the bank :D

Funny though how they got Dennis Leary. Almost seems like he's a direct replacement for Will DaFoe even though he's playing a different character.

as far as superhero movies go, I can't wait for Green Lantern to come out in June. Hope it lives up to expectations!

I basically see another Fantastic Four. Big name with a concept that just doesn't translate well in this day and age. The Flash seems like it could work though I have no idea what the backstory is of the guy who plays the Flash which is a big part in any Super Hero movie. Plus no one is in a hurry to make a Flash movie.

Aqua man though should be made. All they need is James Cameron to direct and Vinny Chase to play Aqua Man and BAM! So long Spiderman Opening Weekend record.

Ever since they described it as Spider-man with a twist of Twilight for the series reboot I told myself I'll wait to Netflix it. As far as Batman goes though, I can't wait to see the first trailer for the new one as they've started filming now. Next year with that and the Avengers movie it's going to be comic book geek heaven.

Not quite sure why it wouldn't translate? a guy with no fear, a romantic interest (who in a sequel could become his archenemy), a great opportunity for visual effects (the ring's power should be highlighted), a "true hero" (let all who worship evil's might, beware the power of green lantern's light, or something like that).

I see it as one that should be visually stunning, and a fair back story of a guy having galactic power thrust upon him.

I obviously only know so much about super heroes but when I look at Green Lantern I still see a guy with a ring. The Super Hero movies that do win big at the box office are the ones that are able to strike a certain balance between fantasy and reality. Thats why I feel X-Men, Batman, Spiderman, and Ironman have all done so well.

On the other hand I feel like the two big Super Hero movies being released this summer (Thor and Green Lantern) delve way to far onto the fantasy end of the spectrum and get away from that balance i was talking about.

Never saw Green Hornet but finally decided to give into the x for a reason excuse. In this case X = Movie Wasteland = Winter Release. Studio's that remotely believe in a Super Hero movie will release it during Summer or at least late spring. January is Hollywood speak for, "even we know this sucks."

I think thats the one my lady wants to see, I heard it is funny as hell so im acting like I think its a chick flick and going to have the movie count as one of her choices (we rotate) even though I want to see it myself.

I took my wife to see it last weekend. During the wedding dress scene she was like I can't believe you brought me to see this, I don't like this. But over the next few days she kept quoting lines from it until finally she was like you know what I liked that movie.

The cop car scene was hilarious

I think the cop car scene was what stuck with me too... and the battle of "best friend" speeches.

I think the wedding dress scene was definitely targeting the (young) male demographic; I can see why your wife would roll her eyes during that scene hahaha.

Those speeches were great.

Yeah, I had read that that scene was added by the guys working on the movie to draw in the young male demo.

I've actually heard rumors of a Goonies sequel, with the original cast. Funny story- I actually sat right next to Data at the Phantom Menace premiere a long time ago. He was my friend's classmate in film school. Dude sounded exactly the same as a grown-up haha. Pinchers of power!

OK so I took a half day yesterday, was not getting much done becasue I kept think about the Bruins. So I decided to go see Super 8. Great movie, it is definitely one you need to see a few times. Was it better then Goonies? Hard to say, I love Goonies but I love it because it reminds me of my childhood. I wish I could see Super 8 and Goonies both with my 12 year old mind, I am willing to bet I pick Super 8 over Goonies then.

I give it:

4 Stars out of 5

Also if you see it sit through the credits, great stuff there.

On a side note have you noticed a lot of movie makers now a days like to set their movies in the 70's or 80's. It helps them not have to write story lines that have to work around cell phones and the internet, which I am sure are a pain.

One-eyed Willy and his booty traps! Haha. I love that movie.

I don't know anyone who has not loved Super 8. I gotta see it.

The wife dragged me to Bridesmaids one night when we were on vacation a few weeks ago, and it was soooo funny. I laughed out loud in the theater at least a dozen times.

Why people get butt hurt when someone doesn't agree with their opinion about trivial stuff like movies always makes me chuckle.

Now you don't like the movie becasue Matty's Facebook friend Sally said she didn't like it, damn to her! Must kill her, she is ruining it for everyone!

I may get eviscerated for this one, but I think Sucker Punch is one of the best movies I've seen this year. I can't believe I liked something that was so universally panned (and may even be nominated for a Razzie). It was marketed one way, but the story is way more dark and complex... some complained that it was too convoluted, but if you just follow along it's not that hard. Foreshadowing and symbolism abound... I catch new things every time I watch it.
