I don't see how you can watch this video and think it will be anything but RedWolves

I did think the video itself was very well done.

Points of note to me:
1) they have a fan say "I like that we didn't just rush into some generic name" Keeping WFT would be like, nope we took 2 years to pick a generic name, they did also keep in a fan that said - "I like Washington Football Team i don't care what anyone says" note - she also liked RedWolves and howled
2) they had all the fans shown Howl (one point against RW because they did keep in the part with the baby crying at the howl)
3) 3 of the logos were Wolf based
4) The only logo I actually liked was the one with the monuments - and they did have that get the best fan response.

I think the 3 contenders right now are RedWolves, Commanders and Washington Football Team

Exactly and that is why the name should never have been changed. It's a fuckin' sports team - but some of these white liberals get offended by any and everything that doesn't even concern them.

Not sure how many of you follow the CFL ( our guy Brandon Banks is still playing there) but the Edmonton Eskimos dropped their name cause the crybaby ass mob thought that the name was racist. Basically what was done to Edmonton was the same thing that happened here. One of their main sponsors were going to back out if they kept the name. I mean how in the world is an Eskimo racist? WTF kind of world do we live in now? New new Edmonton Elks. What a joke.

RedWolves works well with the Redskins diehards too. There are lots of subtle ways to pay homage to the Redskins legacy with Wolf imagery without directly tying the two together.

In fact as the crowds move on to the latest pc problem you can bring back some level of merging the two.

I came here to post exactly your points 1) and 2).

IMO WFT is 95% out, they can not afford to look that stupid. How lame would their amazing and thorough process look if it didn't come up with anything better than the temporary generic name found in 2 weeks...

I think the howling part says a lot, you can see how, on top of being a fun way to bring people together, it'll also be a great way to get fans fired up and implicated in the game. We've lacked that for years.

Idk about that. Isn’t any pro sports name interchangeable with any hs sports name? Matter of fact my Highschool was the Raiders. I think the Seahawks is a fuckin great name. Redwolves reminds me of it. What is more bad ass than howling? Lotta people thought the band was corny as hell.
Anyway lucky for you i have absolutely no say in the new name, but like C-red said you better get used to it…..

One more takeaway from that video. Wright listed 6 characteristics the new brand should capture:
Resilience, Grit, Tradition, Nobility, History, Pride

Out of all the names flashed:
Armada, Commanders, Defenders, WFT, RedWolves/Wolves

Which one captures those most in essence. By far I think the answer is RedWolves/Wolves.

I also want to add I think they are definitely doing a lot of due diligence here, and that should command respect once the choice is announced.

I just read that Jason Wright actually said the Three names and they were bleeped out?? .. what sense does that make ?? Was there a press conference where this occurred if so Are we to believe that nobody there heard the three names ? If this was a press conference dealing with the Government and national security it would have allready been leaked 😳.. hard for me to believe nobody in the press knows the final 3 names .. am I missing something?

If you watch it the bleeps are like a TV show that bleeps out certain parts in an advertisement to build curiosity and interest.

I did some research on the red wolf .. apparently they only live in eastern North Carolina .. not sure how that ties in with this team … wolves without the Red in the name makes more sense to me … Washington Wolves … we maybe totally surprised at what it actually ends up … I still think it could be a nod to the military or a patriotic theme…

It is now an endangered species in need of a major awareness campaign. Imagine if Washington encouraged high schools that were Redskins to also change, and then launched an effort with the national zoo (in DC) donating an area in the zoo for endangered wolves. HUGE opportunities to generate brand marketing, a sympathetic fan base, and build cross connections in DC, and VA. Also remember before the Panthers, NC was considered Redskins country.

It hasnt been shown in any video, but they had Commanders in this one (dumb) but what about Washington Commandos. Riggins in fatigues comes to mind.

Personally I doubt it is that militaristic but I think it would be a Snyder favorite.

I actually don't mind Comnanders. Not my preference, but I like it better than most.

Every name, besides the Wolves (because that's my favorite), will initially be disappointing.

Some names will take a lot longer to get over than others. I'm personally glad Warriors is gone. I hate the Warriors basketball team and don't want a common name altogether. But any name that isn't the Wolves (I like Redwolves too, but keeping "red" in the name will come off as a fake change), will be on a sliding scale of disappointment for me.

I just want the team name to end with a "S". I'm already a Thunder fan in basketball, I can't handle 2 weird names.

Note - I was originally a Supersonics fan, which is the best name in sports history. But I am not from Seattle, so I didn't care when they moved. So I've been a Thunder fan since the move. I actually like that name OK(C), but still don't want 2 favorite teams with weird names.

While being a fervent Redwolves/Wolves supporter, I know after the first sentiment of deception I'd be cool with pretty much any other name too, with a cool logo and all.

The thing for me with Spartans is, while ancient and current greek people likely wouldn't get offended, do they really want to go down the human mascot route again ?

I think it's going to be Wolves, maybe RedWolves, and these videos are ways of prepping the fan base. Spartans was mainly from fan comments, not anything specific.
