Saturday, 5 years, $25M per, $75M guaranteed.
Seriously, you're deflecting criticism of Vinny?
The guy was playing fantasy football with our roster. And poorly. He was a farging idiot. He made us a laughing stock and set us back 8+ years. :banghead:
No, just stating the fact that Snyder was pulling a lot of those strings back then. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
The reason Cousins comes out and says "if I base my life around money then shame on me" is because he's publicly preparing to save face by not taking every penny his leverage dictates he could.
As long as the 'Skins come with something reasonable, that recognizes the short supply of QBs in the NFL, he'll sign. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Listening to Andrew Brandt yesterday he thinks a deal will get done and it won't be the crazy expensive deal some are expecting it to be.

Exactly, it was like Vinny was the pilot but Danny told him when to turn land etc..technical Vinny was flying the plane but Danny was the one in control. |

Andrew Brandt is very knowledgeable in this area and I trust his insight better than most sports news folks, given his background/experience. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
I think it will take 25M per, I just dont see the Skins offering it. I like the optimism though.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Rappaport says both Skins FO and Kirk are on board with him playing out the tag. If true, we better draft a QB in '18.

He said the same thing in April. When he said Cousins will be traded before the draft. |

When he said Cousins will be traded before the draft.
True, I forgot about that! Plus it is NFL.com. I just hope that the deal is somewhat cap friendly or we will be always replacing quality guys. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
He won't sign a long term deal with the Redskins, this year or next year. He's doing just fine on these one year deals, and has more to gain if he plays the season out on the FT, and then play the game again next year. I'm not real sure his current or past comments really matter; his nature is to be positive and not rock the boat. And everyone else outside of Cousins, his Agent, and the FO who are commenting on the situation is just guessing. It's not getting done, and if I were him, I'd be completely fine with that.

The major incentive the Skins can offer is injury guarantees, and I would not be shocked to see a hefty injury guarantee amount in any deal that gets done. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
As crazy as it sounds, it's still too early to guess what will happen. The Skins were never going to show their cards before this weekend. Either the offer will go up this weekend, or all hell breaks loose in fandom on Monday. It's still too early to know.

My thought was that it would be something creative to make up for the fact that he is guaranteed so much in the first two years if we tag him again. Something like 62.5, but set up in a way where he gets it all in the first two years. |
