The Redskins are expected to announce Monday they're retiring their name without specifying yet what the new name will be, source says, as initially reported by @BenFischerSBJ.

So it looks like dropping the Redskins name will be made official tomorrow but no new name will be revealed? It’s almost like Dan is doing this purposefully to drag out media attention and the $$ that comes with that.

Alternate theory: The Redskins have either just started the trademark process and know it won't even get looked at for another 3 months, or they haven't gotten anything approved yet and that's why they don't want to announce the new name.

Why mention sponsors first? I know it's THEIR FAULT we're changing but it doesn't play well to the fans to be mentioned after sponsors.
