Copacabana Red Red Wine If I hear those songs at anytime I will instantly go into epileptic seizure.
I'd take epilepsy over either of those songs. |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Growing up I worked in Pizza joint (5 years) that had a jukebox that only played two songs when it didn't have money it.
They were: Copacabana Red Red Wine If I hear those songs at anytime I will instantly go into epileptic seizure.
holy shit i would have sabotaged that machine after a couple weeks. i worked at one restaurant for just over a year, the main prep cook would listen to the same tape multiple times a day, every day. the only song i recognized was "lady in red", luckily i was out front most of the time and didn't have to bear it. |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
I would shoot myself in the face multiple times over Copacabana. DAYUM.
|
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
i would have started by pouring soda into any access points and cutting all exposed cords/wires
|
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
i would also have titled this thread "what really chaps my ass"
|
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
For some reason I worked every Xmas EVE; mainly to get out of going to church with the family but I can remember the songs being exceptionally bad on that day(s). Reason being it was so slow on Christmas Eve night and it be just a handful of us working so it was quiet other then those two songs on a continuous loop.
I am being dead serious here but for a while my mind blocked out where I know those songs from; we are talking years later but I once went back to visit (we are talking like 5 years) and I hear them playing again and it all came rushing back to me. I don't remember really hating them but I can remember being so ingrained in my mind. Like when you were cleaning the dining room you just hum them with out even knowing. Strange how powerful music is to us. |

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
I'd take epilepsy over either of those songs.
I wouldn't. It'd be nice to be able to go near strobe lights and not have to worry about what might happen if I keep my eyes open too long. I was just at the Halloween Haunt at Kings Dominion and some of those damn "haunted houses" had strobe lights in them and I had to close my eyes and put my hand on my friend's shoulder to guide me through the house because the lights were starting to cause a seizure. Which I guess leads me into this: You know what grinds my gears? Strobe lights. Ruins concerts, parties, haunted houses at KD, etc. for me. |

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
i've had a lot of miscommunications in my youth, but i have no one to blame but myself.
one of my favorites was in a crowded pet store in the mall around xmas time. a man near the middle of the store (right next to me, in my ear) was calling loudly to his son in the rear of the store. making no effort to actually move towards his son, calling his name "joshua!" several times, i just turned towards him and said "my name is kyle". he was furious and said through his teeth "i was talking to my son!". i didn't feel like making any more trouble but i wanted to ask why he was doing it in my ear instead slithering his lazy ass to his son, who obviously didn't hear him, or was ignoring him. |

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Writing a Motion with two other authors and two non-writing supervisors (same one as my last post). Conference call with all involved to discuss how to improve draft product.
Non-Author No.1: I think you should argue more facts. ME: The facts you want argued are irrelevant to the legal point the other side is making. NA1: Okay, well, perhaps you could just include them in the argument to highlight that they are irrelevant. ME: Umm, okay - I do that when I include the footnote saying "Since we concede the existence of a contract, the facts stated in paragraphs 10 - 44 of the complaint, alleging the existence of a contract, are irrelevant to whether or not the contract was breached." NA1: Yeah. Expand that. LATER SAME CALL: NA2: Well, I haven't read the cases, but that doesn't seem right. I mean, if the cases say what you say they say, okay. I'm just not sure they do. ME: I did read them and that's what they say - it's why I used quotation marks and cited to their facts. NA2: Yeah, but I'm not sure I agree with that. ME: Okay, but, unless there is a case I didn't find in my 10 hours of research on that specific, limited legal issue, it is what the current law on the matter is in Maryland. Do you know of a case that says something different? NA2: No, but I'm sure there is one. See if you can find it. ARRRRGHHHHHHHH |

^ must have studied marketing at uc stalingrad.
what really chaps my ass is the fact that i've barely learned a damn thing since my mentor, the guy who brought me on for the 12 week internship, left the company. he seemed, to me, and to everyone else i've spoken w, to be the lone bright spot on this level of management. he was very hands on and a great teacher, i have to take it upon myself to advance my skills - it's hard when so much of the information is either outdated or simply unreliable. got some great contacts within who can help point me in the right direction, but i can't expect them to consistently take time out of their busy schedules. anyways, i'm chomping at the bit to be officially hired so i can dominate this department and begin my ascension. los panda rises |

I was walking in the office with my empty coffee mug in one hand and my Redskins water cup in the other. I was going to the kitchen to rinse my coffee mug out and fill my water cup.
