Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I bought my PS4 the week of Thanksgiving when it was released, haven't had any major issues and I leave it on all the time, never turn it off. Only issue I have from time to time is the controller won't work with the system.
It will be plugged in but when I hit any of the buttons it doesn't do anything, then I have to unplug the console and restart and it works fine. Doesn't happen often, but is annoying as shit when it does. Sure there are less titles at a launch, but they usually have a few that I play regularly, so it gets me by until the games start getting cranked out. I have always bought both consoles (xbox and ps) when they get released and have owned every nintendo console with exception of the Wii U. Next gen, I'm only buying a PS5. Especially since I have a pretty good gaming PC and you can get the XBox exclusives for PC now. And use an Xbox controller with the PC.
Welcome All good points. I just got kids and ponying up 5 bills for a ps5 is low on the spend plan. I can always bait my son to get his mom mom to buy him one.lol |

I just finished God Of War last night, i still a bit confused about the armor system and all the shit you can add the characters. Its a great game though definitely worth a pick up. The only thing that bugged me about it was when he was in certain buildings the decor remind me of being in a Cheesecake Factory restaurant. |
Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I just saw the trailer for the latest version of DOOM which comes out in Mar 2020. Since it first came out, something like 20 years ago (yes I played it then), it been a stellar FPS game. The trailer looks amazing!

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
There was another NBA game back in the early 2000s, think I used to play it on the gamecube. NBA street maybe?

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I haven't played them in ages, but I would venture a guess that shutting down the sports world will be a boon to companies selling video games and the equipment to play them. From looking at ESPN it looks like some soccer leagues are still playing and that is about it.

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Doom Eternal coming 3/20, also MLB The Show 3/17

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Ok had some free time of late. =)
First off these games are all the same structure but different themes. Spiderman (superhero) Days Gone ( Zomibe/ Horror) Event Horizon (Sci Fi) God of War (Greek Methodology) All great games but i am thinking to myself these are basically all the same game. Maps, leveling up, fight mechanism, etc... I guarantee Sony is like we use this core game platform and just tweak it with different themes. You could almost throw Uncharted in the mix too. Anywho they are great time wasters. |

The Last of Us Part 2 is gonna be a baller
Days Gone is ok, if not for covid 19 i had given up on it. It has a very very slow start to it, building up weapons and such; kind of painful. I am chugging along in it now. For a AAA title there are alot of lazy programming in it. There are tons of zombies but really only 3 types (looks wise). Consistently having awkward moments where i walk through a wall or mountain side, just weird shit. IDK, just being picky i guess. I need to finish up Days Gone, then finish out Horizon Zero Dawn. I think after that i tackle RR 2. though Matty made me feel guilty with his one post about doing you tube workouts and not movies/games all day. LOL! |
Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Still have plenty of time for gaming, working my way through Far Cry 5 again right now

So you already beat it once? I tell you, I haven't played a game where the ending pissed me off more FC5. |

Lame. I think it was a business decision by Ubisoft to get people to buy New Dawn. |
Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I don't blame anyone for not liking the ending. The game gets a lot of unfair hate though just for the ending. Overall it's a blast.

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
That new trailer looks fantastic, buuuut I feel like AC has really fallen off in the last few installments. AC2 was the only game I ever got a Platinum trophy in in my life, and it's been downhill from there. The last AC I played religiously was Black Flag.
I'm excited for the new one, and I'll buy it for sure but I'm not falling for the hype anymore. Speaking of Ubisoft products I just bought FC: New Dawn. Need something new to play. |
Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I never really got into the AC series but as long as this one is legit I'll be getting it

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Can you play a AC game in any order?
Yeah I would say so. There's a modern-day backstory to the games but I think they've basically gotten rid of it the last few installments because nobody was a fan of it. If you've never played I would say skip AC1, honestly that was super repetitive and boring to the point I wasn't planning on buying AC2, but AC2 was fantastic (and probably my fav. game in the series). Brotherhood/Revelations are ok but forgettable, 3 is ok, Black Flag is probably my 2nd favorite in the series, and everything after that is forgettable. If you were gonna pick any of the recent ones I'd say go for Syndicate. The setting is London towards the end of the Industrial Revolution. |

Ok thanks! I am still slugging through Days Gone |
Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Me and my 8 year old daughter are playing Minecraft together. A little annoying bc she insists I stay right by her side and if a bee gets near her, she gives a curling scream and will turn off her tablet.
A bee. A make believe video game bee. So instead of exploring and venturing out, we build homes and gardens and farms. |
