It seems like most ordinary people hold professional athletes, or celebrities in general, to a higher standard than they hold themselves or their peers to. I think all the people who are making something out of nothing with this deal would do the very same thing in Jackson's shoes. Another example is the Riley Cooper situation; lots of people couldn't figure out why the Eagles' FO resigned a guy who yelled a racial slur...just one incident, while drunk, and there are people who think he should be out of a job for that? Seems a bit unfair, if you ask me.

"Ordinary people" who are not in near the spotlight as athletes and celebrities have been fired for much less. Public intoxication could have been enough for 'ordinary people', not to mention the subsequent actions.

Way too many fans care far too much about what players/celebs do on their free time.

For the fans out there that question why athletes aren't studying film or working on their game 24/7 I ask this... with your free time are you constantly working on improving at your job? Why not? Shouldn't you also be giving up all your free time to bettering yourself for your employer?

I've never understood why fans have these completely insane expectations of athletes, like they're not allowed to take vacations, have a Facebook or Twitter account, or god forbid have any sort of life outside of football, especially during the offseason.

it's because we as fans are greedy... we want our tem to do the best so we feel great, and rub it in all the haters faces and our friends family and co-works who like other teams , or dallas or philly... AND ... the BIGGEST reason IMO ... the insane amount of money these players get paid, to play the game. LMAO...

If I was even making VET MIN... bet ur ass i'm focusing on work a helllllllllll of a lot more.

but I don't, I work friggin 60 hour weeks as it is.. get calls emails and texts at home at night .... travel away for business a lot... and avg like 65-70 a year.. I put in a lot of work

Everyone knows that Griffin works his ass off. You're missing the point. After all the stuff that he went through last year, some of it self imposed, why come out with a logo of yourself? SMH..I would've just told Adidas.."now's simply not the time for that".. The team did poorly, so did he, now's not the a good time to do it. The minute he has a bad game, you know it's going to come back on him. That's all I'm saying. I don't know of any fans that don't expect players not have a good time. Who's saying that?

He has a contract with Adidas. The logo was made by Adidas. So he's probably going to push some Adidas wear with the logo. It's really no different than him pimping his jersey or saying Subway gives him good juju vibes.

I'm talking mostly about Jackson.

As for Griffin he's not sitting around drawing up logos and he probably didn't come up with the idea to have a logo in the first place. It's just part of his ad deal with Adidas. I'm sure he just signed off on it and it took all 5 minutes to upload it to instagram and promote it on social media, again just part of his ad deal. Who f'ing cares.

Its not like he missed practices to design a logo for himself. Adidas has people who do those logo's, all he does is say ok. Whether he does good or bad, the logo will have no bearing on it. If he has a bad year, nothing would change if he didnt have the logo, he would still have a bad year.

The fact that people think a logo has anything to do with performance just means people are stupid. Its not any athletes fault that people are so brainless to make a connection that doesnt exist.

People seem to forget that RG3 was the second pick. He is going to be massively criticized if he fails with or without a logo or commercials. People still talk about Ryan Leaf, and he never had a ton of picks traded for him (which, of course, RG3 had no control of). Might as well make the money since its going to happen regardless of what actions he does.

I have a question for those worried about Desean Jackson coming back in a year wanting more money (Lotus, this is in your ballpark :) ).

I know he has done that in the past, but it was with a different organization, and more to my question/point here, a different owner.

One of my arguments why Snyder is a good owner, is he's willing to pay for the talent on his team. Yes he has relied on bad advisors in the past but if a coach and player both were on board with a player, seems like making the money part work isn't the issue.

So my question/thought is - Is it fair to assume that a guy who always wanted money will have those same feelings from a Dan Snyder owned team? I know we aren't going to just restructure to make every player happy on a whim, but have we ever had a player who felt that he was treated badly by this organization?

The examples of players feeling they were treated bad that would come to my mind were Clark, Arrington, Rogers. But every one of those was a case where a coach muddied the waters or like in Rogers case went out of his way to make Rogers miserable (imo)

Well actually Matty I am spending my day off role playing sales techniques with my family while refreshing myself with the company compliance handbook.
Im going to study well into the night to make up for my time perusing the Warpath.

I think w/ Jackson, it's really no big deal. Personally, if I were starting with a new company and wanted to get off on the right foot, I would cancel the vacation and come in, but that's me. Now if he misses a OTA or mini camp then that's when it should be a story. Missing a week of workouts is non issue.

I think about your question from a different angle: my understanding is that we have had a rep of, "If you wanna get paid, go to Washington." Maybe that rep has changed. But if we do have that rep, I would expect DJax to put that rep to the test to the maximum of his ability. But who knows what he will do.
