This proves nothing, other than NE doesn't fumble the ball. Again, why didn't it help Ridley? Where is your proof that every ball they played with was deflated?

I guess that normal sized ball hurt Brady in the SB when he picked apart Seattle with pin point pass after pin point pass. I guess the heavy ball slowed down his reads. Or slowed down his ability to check things at the line. Or look off the safeties, or when he has that 6th sense with the pass rush and steps up to avoid sacks. I guess all those things that he does so well comes down to an under deflated ball by 1.2 psi. It has nothing to do with the countless hours that he puts in. He's a great QB all cause of the deflated ball. Right?

Again, we'll just agree to disagree.
Not surprising when one of us thinks and the other doesn't.

Either the NFL doesn't agree with Munson's analysis or the NFL has done something they don't want public and think it is best for the league to resolve the matter out of the public eye.

New rule folks and the skins voted against it. I really like the fact 2 points can be returned for a score.

I'm a little surprised we are going to be seeing what like, 33 yard PAT's .... Crazy... I'm gonna go ahead and say we'll be seeing ALOT of odd final scores, via missed kicks, failed 2 pts, or converted 2 pts.... The change is Interesting, but is it a good kind of intersring? Remains to be seen IMO.

FGs last year from 33 yards were 94%, so don't count on this new rule having a huge impact.

Re: All things off season 2015.

I dont understand how the NFL can worry so much about the extra point. We dont watch the sport for extra points. At this point, just do away with it and go with the option of going for 2 by doing a +1/-1 thing with it. TD is 7 points, if you choose to "go for 2", then add 1 point if successful and subtract 1 point if not.

They have worried about length of games and added rules to keep them at 3 hours (out of bounds is now treated as a first down in college except in last 5 minutes of each half. Half times were shortened from 15 minutes to 12, etc). Remove the extra point and allow us to see more football in that 3 hours.

Ruhskins 05-20-2015 08:56 AM

Re: All things off season 2015.

How 'bout the NFL leave things as it is and stop worrying about the few seconds it takes to make an extra point.

true, of course Im sure once it does people will be bitching.

I really like the fact when Chip goes for 2 early in a games for no other reason than to douche-out now, if(when) Tebow throws carelessly into the end zone (a strong possibilty) it can be picked and returned.

Re: All things off season 2015.

In 2013 (couldn't quickly find last years numbers), there were 1,267 xp's kicked with only five missed (99.6%). Applying the 94% success rate to that number, means about 76 xp's would be missed. While not huge, it does make the possibility of an important xp kick being missed something to consider a little more.

i know everybody is done with deflategate, but this article sums it up...

DP just mentioned it, but this is the quote which sums it up perfect:

"The battle is over, Patriot fans. And the war has been lost. The Patriots have been found to have cheated twice in eight seasons. They have accepted the loss of first-round draft picks twice in eight seasons. They have accepted the biggest fine in NFL history."

To me, these facts severly taint the so called dynasty...

How many games were won by a point or two? This change may affect final quarter strategy for many games and prove to be much more than a trivial change.

Haven't decided yet whether any of this will be good or bad for the game.

Well, it's not just the final score that may be effected. Team down by 10 scores a TD with two - four minutes to go, misses the xp and now must get a TD not an just a FG. Maybe they try an onside where they might have been content to rely on defense. etc., etc.

At the same time, I'm with you. Not sure if it is good or bad.

Can you still try a fake from the 15 and score two points? Not sure anyone would but just curious if the rule addresses that.
