Wolves is the leader of the pack by far. Red Wolves and Commanders would be next and finally WFT.

Anything else would be an out of the blue name, and better knock it out of the park.

After that video sparked so much speculation, it will be interesting to see how much energy they spend on it once the season begins. Hopefully with the team in the playoff hunt, the need to push this information out will be minimal.

Final pitch for Wolves (for the moment) imagine the imagery around Wolves in the playoff Hunt.

Just so easy to do great (non-offensive) marketing/imagery with Wolves.

Not directly related to your post. I am curious how everyone feels about their Making the Brand videos. I have said that I see it as a positive if they are trying to guide and lay out a level of expectation and anticipation for the new name. So when I see Wolves themes with positive messaging repeated, or say Commanders or WFT both of which also have had some clear positive messages in these videos, then when the name is announced I have a level of "OK, That makes sense". But if they pull some name and logo like the DMV Dumbasses or Washington Whoseewhatsits, then to me they would have been better off just staying tight lipped and announcing it in one big reveal after the Superbowl

So, my question is, at the midpoint of the renaming journey, how does everyone feel that the WFT has done with the media aspect of it?

We've seen a bunch of possible names beyond that 8 name list yesterday. The team got like 40,000 submissions? I'll go out on a limb it's going to be one of those for sure lol

As far as the media aspect of it I would have been fine if they just announced it vs all this "journey" stuff. I honestly don't care, just tell us the name and let's get on with it. But I get it, they're engaging the fans and that's something this team hasn't done well with for years.

They are definitely hyping it up, which is why there is no way it stays WFT. Meet the new name, same as the old new name?
I have wanted Redwolves since the first time I heard it floated. Ill be disappointed with anything else. Unless maybe it is something I haven’t heard, but that is apparently not the case.

Monuments… is my new guess, that is the only thing authentic to DC … no animal is unique to DC …the Jason Wright hint is huge .. think about it the commanders, defenders , Armada, brigade …are they unique to DC? ( I don’t know)I could see the Hogs in the name but he did not say authentic to the redskins tradition or even talk about tradition .. authentic to DC ??? Authentic is not the same as unique. And authentic is just a weird word choice. Are bears authentic to Chicago? Are giants authentic to NY (of course the NYG aren't authentic to New York since they are in New Jersey [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]) Are Rams authentic to LA?

The answer to all those are no, and it doesn't matter.

The Washington Monument is the most visible landmark in DC … as well as the capital.. when the Capitals were named I’m sure they had a lot of negativity.. authentic to DC .. let’s hear what you got for a name with that in mind … the bears, giants were names at the very start of pro football .. easy to see how they came up with that .. I can make Wolves authentic by pointing to a local university and high school that use Wolves in there logos. (Yes there is one of those) or make it authentic by referring to the characteristics of a Wolfpack. That was my point with the term authentic, the team can, and will, define authenticity to fit the name they choose.

I just had an epiphany. New name: Washington Chuck Norris (singular, b/c there is only one Chuck). The real Chuck can be our talisman (b/c Chuck is not a mascot) and when we play we will always win because if we are down in the 4th quarter he will roundhouse kick the other team’s players in the face and no referee will dare throw a flag. 💪🏻

I don't think monuments would be all that bad, it could definitely lead to some cool looking logos. Either way I'm not going to get too worked up over any of this. There will eventually be a new name, some will like it, some won't, and we'll all move forward.
