Well said. Maybe Alex Smith will be our version of Tom Brady and still is playing very well by the time he hits 40. We can use the picks in that span to improve the team at our various needs...
I'm seeing all these stats and descriptions of how great Smith is. Yet he didn't look that good when I've seen him, and the Chiefs and their fans are perfectly fine trading him. What gives? If he was that great, the Chiefs would have kept him. |

The last drive says it all, when they NEEDED a play AS rolled away from pressure and threw a laser to #12 forget his name but I can see that play in my head as I type this. Also he killed us scrambling. Sometimes it's not always about the 300 yards passing games and 3 tds.. He makes plays when it counts |

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
KC may have soured on the Skins, but it's all on Snyder and Allen, who failed to properly cultivate him from day one, or more likely ignored him as a Shanahan project of no importance.
We seem to have normalized this idea that Cousins didn't really want to be here. He was drafted by us and turned out to be one of our best picks ever given the RG3 bust. It's a debacle that we f'd up the RG pick and a bigger debacle that we f'd up the backup plan. Good teams develop talent and sign them, people like Cousins and Fuller. It's fine to praise the Smith signing under the circumstances, but the circumstances are that we Skins fans are huddled together under the derailed train doing triage, searching for scraps of food, and hoping that the same engineer who crashed the train gets us back on track and drives us to our destination. So hooray for Alex Smith. The deal only makes us a tad worse than we were this past season. But in bizzarro Redskins World, really we're much better because Kirk was going to leave anyway and Colt McCoy was going to be our QB. We've not only drunk the koolaid, we're addicted to it. Meanwhile, the Eagles are in the Super Bowl. Think about that while we debate Alex Smith's cup size.
The Eagles are in the Superbowl with Alex Smith's backup. Pretty sure that Andy Reid would have kept Nick Foles if he was better than Alex Smith. Andy Reid kept AS for 5 years, and was 1st or 2nd in the AFC West each year. Obviously it's a team sport, but AS can clearly lead a winning team. And in 3 years his cap hit of around 23 million will look great versus the cap, if it continues as it has been going. |
Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
They're in the Super Bowl mainly because of Carson Wentz.
I have no problem with AS as our QB. I have a problem with the Skins FO who could have signed Cousins for much less than Cousins on tags + AS's new contract. The net result of how we handled Cousins is that we have a QB with a much shorter shelf life, less cap space, and no Kendall Fuller. And all we need this FO to do now is upgrade the defense, find a running game, and bring in some wide receivers. This is spinning our wheels, or as Bruce Allen calls it, winning off the field. |
Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
Cooley and Kevin made a good point, the main thing we should be pissed about is we should have traded Cousins last year or before the deadline this year.

That's more hindsight tho. We should have never franchised him in the 1st place and drafted a qb 3 years ago based on how it played out. But, you just move on. So glad its over with. Our QB of the future will be picked next year and learn from vet that all his former players and Vernon Davis love for a year or 2. I think this trade sets us up well for the future. |

This is what I have been wondering. How did it get to the point of him walking away for nothing. Only the Redskins..... |

Yeah but three years ago and three months ago are two entirely different things. They had to know leading up to the deadline that he was gonna be gone one way or another. We dropped the ball on this one ... no doubt. |

I think Schneed said it best, he didn't want to be here, and he played the game perfectly for himself. NFL is a tough business and players don't owe owners or fans anything so good for him for himself. But as a Skins fan, if a player bitches over not being loved enough despite being drafted by the team when he got passed over a 100+ times, and made 44 million the last 2 years, I can all him a pansy ass bitch. He never committed to our team or said I want to be here 100%, so fuck em man. Never made a counter offer either. Is Jay a great HC? No, I don't think so. Can he make dudes like Dalton and Kirk 2nd Cousins have great stats? Sure can, been doing it for like 8 straight years or something. Kirk is a cry baby who constantly needs pats on the back in an industry where feelings don't matter. He's an under .500 QB who pretends like he's just as good as Aaron Rodgers. Hey Kirk, you're not. Get over it bro. I'm glad we got Alex locked in with more room to bring in or resign some Hogs. HTTR! For me, i think what it comes down to is, that Kirk thinks he's better than he actually is and needs everyone to confirm it for him. |
Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
Cousins got a lot of credit for being some amazing person, when in actuality, he just beat Smithers in chess. The person I hate the most on this site, i still believe 100%, could beat BA in any game/match. I actually like everyone here, but you get my drift.

If we were a Super Bowl contending team then I'd be on board with this 100%. We're the 3rd best team in our own division and lost to the lowly Giants. |
