Kiper is pretty amazing on air, throughout the draft he never pauses for even a split second. He's got info on hundreds of players & can recall it immediately. |

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Finally Dalton gets a top 10 rumor:
Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that there is a divide among the Titans’ coaching staff as to whom Tennessee should draft with the eighth overall selection. The defensive coaches want Nick Fairley. The offensive coaches want Andy Dalton. Several league sources tell La Canfora that the Titans’ offensive staff considers Dalton “an elite prospect” with low bust potential, compared to the rest of the 2011 quarterback class. La Canfora “would not be surprised” if Tennessee drafted Dalton with the eighth pick in the draft.
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
he also gets this:
We can get taiwan jones in the 5th of 6th round. I love that kid's speed and elsuiveness. My only concerns is a size. He's kinda small to be playing rb in this league. I think he might bulk up a little bit.
Size isn't the main concern with this guy, it's that he's very injury prone. |

This is a cool article by a scout that says gabbert isn't worth it but Locker is totally worth it. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
SS,
Any news on Quinn sliding down the Skins board? I just saw a piece of info posted.
Robert Quinn's brain tumor could come back, per doctors, and yes this is why he is no longer strong on our board at this time
...or is this a smoke screen? |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Well, I think he's still high on their board, though perhaps not as high. But mainly because they don't think he'll even be there at 10.
I'm not sure how the news of his tumor possibly coming back is well, news. I think everyone knows his tumor is a risk that needs to be monitored |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
SS if u had to guess on our Big Board ratings what would u say?
I'd think something like 1. Locker 2. Quinn 3. Jones 4. Mallett 5. Smith |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
FYI E60 is doing a piece on JL right now

I'd think something like 1. Locker 2. Quinn 3. Jones 4. Mallett 5. Smith
Which Smith are you talking about? Anyhow, in no particular order: Locker, Gabbert, Jordan, Quinn, Watt Locker piece coming up next on E:60 |

I'd think something like 1. Locker 2. Quinn 3. Jones 4. Mallett 5. Smith
Just listened to the latest First Draft Podcast with Kiper and McShay and the rumor they're hearing right now from their sources around the league is that Mallet is going to slip to the 4th round. The maturity and character concerns have gotten so bad that it overshadows his 1st round talent. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Talking Aldon Smith SS
I'd be stunned if Mallett falls that far |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I seriously doubt Mallet falls to the 4th round
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I seriously doubt Mallet falls to the 4th round
Maybe so, but Kiper and McShay were very convinced after talking to their sources around the league that Mallet will fall to the 4th. First Draft Podcast on ITunes 4/26 edition. The 18:00 mark. Also apparently the Bengals are looking into taking Julio Jones at 4 over Green. They think that he fits their system well, they need a receiver, and there's a slight possibility that it might get Palmer to reconsider his demand for a trade, in part because Jones would not only give him a weapon but he would also serve as the anti-diva at Wide Receiver. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I think both WRs are gone when we pick making the JL decision even easier

Maybe they're right. I disagree As for Jones, that's not really a secret. I think I mentioned it myself here a while back Palmer's not going anywhere. Even if he doesn't play for the Bengals, he's not going anywhere else |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
SS. Im crushing on Julio Jones bad. I know he's a risk but something about him I love. I see above that you wrote that he's not even in the skins top five list. Really???? God damit! J jones at 10 and trade up for Locker or Dalton

He might be in the skins top 5 list. I don't know. What I know doesn't have JJ up there, but I could be totally wrong |

I'd look for us to take Baldwin or T Young in the 2nd

Ehhh. I've never been this stressed out about the draft before. I love Jones , Locker and as of late Mallet......Mallet at 10 ahhh no.... Locker at 10 I can live with that. Less then 48 hours fellas. Can't wait |
Well what the eff do they know?!
Maybe they're right. I disagree As for Jones, that's not really a secret. I think I mentioned it myself here a while back Palmer's not going anywhere. Even if he doesn't play for the Bengals, he's not going anywhere else
Actually maybe I went a little to far. The exact words when introducing the topic is as follows and keep in mind I'm transcribing here give or take a word or two. Kiper: Todd, tell me if I'm hearing something that's inaccurate. I'm hearing from people in the league that have told me, don't be surprised if he drops to the 4th round. McShay: I've heard the same exact thing. And it has a 100% to do with character. Lets be honest here. He's a first round talent. This guy has to much talent to get out of the first round if he's clean off the field. And he's not. And every pick that he last beyond pick 32 has everything to do with Ryan Mallet and how he's carried himself off the field. Not just during the press..it's not weather you believe....it's not him missing a meeting, or being sick, or partying in Carolina. Its not just that. It's a lot of other things umm and a lot of its speculation. You know I get the tweets and the calls and the emails and all that stuff, 'you're attacking Ryan Mallet.' No I'm not. All I'm doing is relaying an abundance of information from NFL teams, and you know hopefully he matures. You hope it's behind him. He's matured and you know sometimes this process can really wake up some guys. I mean you drop 3 rounds and loose out on millions of dollars in your rookie contract, you enter the league with a chip on your shoulder and maybe it's the wake up call that Ryan Mallet needs. And who knows, he's as talented as anyone from an arm strength standpoint and with the size and everything else. He has a chance to get into the league and be very successful two or three years down the road if he can keep his stuff straight off the field. It goes on for another minute or two but you get the point. But there you go. You no longer have to worry about me twisting words or reading between the lines because I have taken advantage of a caffine rush that encouraged me to type out two minutes of a podcast. And on a separate note I have no idea how court reporters do their job. |

It was great and very interesting, informative and entertaining. Although you had to be disappointed in Locker being rated middle of second round on Parcells big board. He was not very impressed with these Qb this year either. He did say this draft is deep in DL and OLB pass rushers. He really like DE Ryan Kerrigan from Purdue. Said he was the safest draft pick in the draft. Guaranteed NFL player. Hmm? |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
^ yeah I wasn't to shocked w Locker as much as I was with his rating on Cam.

Good teams draft smartly and trading up is just plain foolish. |

Good teams draft smartly and trading up is just plain foolish.
Yeah I agree. Parcells was shocked at how many good DL and OLB pass rusher there are in this draft and how they are normally so hard to find so they will all go early in the draft. That this is an unusually good and deep year for this group. It is good thing when team need meets quality and what is plentiful. That is a good thing. Our defense and offensive line are terrible. I would be really happy with a OLB/DE or OT and it is great that top ones will most likely still be there at 10. I really want Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert to be picked early and gone. That drops two other more really great players to us at #10. Lets see if Shanahan and Allen are smart enough avoid the temptation to reach for a QB at 10 and take and make a quality pick. Another interesting point Parcells made was Cal was one of only three college teams that play a true pro style 3-4 defense and they have Cam Jordan. I like that. I have to see more about Kerrigan. I have not seen much on him. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Kerrigan had quite a few sacks and forced fumbles terrorizing Big Ten teams.

Check my location! :cheeky-sm Also see Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State. Also, those guys didn't get endorsed by Parcells. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
^ all of those teams are AVG at best accept WIS for this past yr but their not exactly a Football power.
Anyway check this little rumor out Report: Steelers want to trade up, pair Mike with Maurkice | ProFootballTalk |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I'd love to see us pass on an early QB. Scoring a guy like Pouncey in the 2nd would be nice and picking up a DT,OLB or DE in the 1st would make me happy, and if we could trade back a bit and grab two guys in the second maybe we could score C,RB, NT in the first two rounds. Ingram may fall to us in the second as well. Who knows, it is nice to see something football related other than lockout talk which has gotten old, and to be honest they have nothing to report as of yet. The court ordered lift today was just a part of the legal process and we still have a ways to go beofer we get FA.
BTW. Good to be back! It has been a busy year. |
