I think Warriors is still in play, Red Wolves has faded away on social media big time. They will probably stick with WFT, their whole thing is they want to make sure Redskins isn't forgotten or lost and if you name it Warriors it could ruin it for a bunch of older fans. Just my thoughts
I will be as shocked if they stick with WTF as you will be if they go with Red Wolves. My guess is it will be wolf based but i dont think red wolves win. I personally am hoping for Washington Wolves. It can fit with cowboys and eagles in rivalry imagery, stretching it you can carry it to the giants. It is alliterative which is great in marketing circles. I think trademarks and copyright issues would also be minimized.

Warriors is a bland knock off of the Redskins, unless they took it too the military side, but even that would rile feathers.

Washington Wolves, inking a new stadium deal in the old rfk location and naming rights to REI (REI Stadium Home of the Washinton Wolves)

Or my true personal favorite (which has no shot) Washington WereWolves, build the stadium design as a full moon, get London Fog to buy the stadium naming rights, and have a mist over every home game opening.

Anything w/ a wolf just makes me want to vomit. We will have idiots running around constantly making wolf sounds. We will go from Hail to the Redskins, something as iconic and well branded as that was, to people making wolf sounds. When we score we will have the entire stadium making wolf sounds. IDK, maybe I am just not willing to move off of our history but I just can't go there. That just tilts me in the wrong direction. Dan Snyder if you are surfing on Redskins chat rooms or WFT..smh, please do not go in that direction. As bland Warriors is it still has an attachment to our brand and that to me is way more important than anything else. You can call this team Warriors and put the arrow on the helmet.

Agree on Wolves, sounds like a college team. As for the Arrow, that isn't happening. The Indian imagery is long gone

I don't see the Chicago Blackhawks changing their imagery. Their logo looks very similar to ours. What about the Atlanta Braves? What about the Chiefs? What about Florida State?

This entire thing was a bullshit witch-hunt drummed up by a bunch of fucking crybabies. If you are going to go after the Redskins then go after everyone else. If Snyder has any balls, which he doesn't, he will call them Warriors and make the imagery an arrow.

I wish we had an owner w/ some balls that would have taken it to court. Fought it until the bitter end.

Nah, surely the NA's will settle for a similar name/imagery. Let's just change the name to Bloodskins.

The story behind the Blackhawks is their first owner (who was a WW2 commander of the 86th Infantry Division) named the Blackhawks because Chief Black Hawk served in that division, and the division was nicknamed the Blackhawk division. Modern Blackhawk helicopters are also named after Chief Black Hawk.

Unfortunately the problem with your argument is that the same people who went after the Redskins for their name are also going after every other sports team named after a Native American. The Cleveland Indians announced last year they are going to be changing their name after this season too. IMO, it's only a matter of time before the rest fall. Native American names and imagery are on the way out.

Honestly if we changed the name to reflect some other untarnished fighter from history I'd be cool with that. Problem is there aren't many left whose names haven't been sullied with time.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

Those teams will change too, eventually. They may either be forced financially by business partners a la Washington or be proactive like the Cleveland Indians. I used to be a staunch defender of the names but the research and data on how damming NA mascot and imagery is to NA youth is so solid it is hard to defend it. Whatever it is a moot point now. In terms of WFT I liked it, thought it sounded like it had a sense of prestige about like the New York Athletic Club or the Millrose Athletic Association but I can get why most don't like it.

The only thing interesting here is that he and Deon Yelder were both on the Chiefs last year. I wonder if there is something about their offense (other then Majomes) that Turner wants to emulate? Doesn't seem like this is much more than depth for competition sake.

" Watch out Miami!! Your record is going down! 17 - 0 baby!! "

I swear nothing gets the koolaid pumping than hearing the players use cliches to describe the current roster. Probably because we've sucked so bad the past two decades.

But I'm bullish on our squad next season.

I think as long as no real new name is chosen, people tend to still think Redskins mentally at times. I think THE DAN gloats in annoying the Woke by not choosing a real new name and that we will therefore keep it unless some great name comes up. Remember also that squatters own rights to most of the good names and it would cost THE DAN a pile to get them. He can afford that, but is also kind of guy that would refuse to pay it no matter what the cost. Just another example of our turd owner being the turd he is. I honestly think barring this factor we changed our name long ago.

I'm quarter Cherokee. My grandmother was 100% Cherokee. Whitey committed genocide and ethnic cleansing in stealing the Continent from Native Americans, but does changing a team name really do anything about this reality? Being forced to change name in first place is ridiculous, but at some point you accept it and move on--unless you are The DAN of course. When America is forced to start giving the land back, I'll believe the Woke movement is real, LOL. The name change symbolizes everything worst about Woke, focusing on token superficialities but shunning any real change that requires real sacrifice. As if changing a sports team name is somehow adequate recompense for the theft of a Continent, LOL.

I’m so burned out on the name game. Finding an animal to name our team just seems juvenile and random. I wish the DMV had something badass and historic to draw on (a la Steelers), but all we really have is the seat of government, and those nicknames suck more than animals.

If we stay with WFT, maybe a *true* nickname will emerge as the team finds its new identity. The WTF unis can still be dope without a stupid animal or — God forbid — the Washington Monument on them.

When I was a teenager — long before the Internet — some sage sports guru told me that the name Redskins originated in Boston from Boston baked beans. I believed this for years until it was possible to research this kind of thing. Just think of the cheer possibilities.

Politicians are going to be instantly polarizing, so your so called example is meaningless.

Now let's say that Isiah Thomas was buying 40% of the team, despite the fact that he was a horrible decision maker as an exec with the Knicks, I wouldn't be crying about it, given that junior partners don't make decisions.
