Do you think kids are taught to be gay? Or that it is a learned thing?
---

You say "encouraging certain genders" .... do you believe liberals indoctrinate kids to be gay?
First of all, I don't think it's a "liberal" thing, and I never said that either. Also, I wasn't the one who first brought up the "encourage" word. I was responding to Mooby's example from his neighborhood.

Do you think that there is a difference between the end result of being taught something, and the end result of learning something? To me it's synonymous.

Ultimately, I think it's more complex than just saying someone is born gay, or saying someone was taught to be gay. I personally don't subscribe to the idea that you are simply born gay or straight. I do believe that it's probably both biological and environmental - but mostly environmental. That is what I believe. Each person is different though. If we had it all figured out, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

Interesting libs always try to move the conversation to “gay” from gender identity. Let’s stick the gender identity and targeting children which liberals and progressives are proudly doing on social media and now within elementary schools. It’s sick

There is absolutely zero doubt liberal and progressive are pushing gender ideology onto society including very young children…that’s not even a fucking question.

It’s not organic, not one bit. We see this in liberal pockets of the country…on the coast. Places in Europe and not anywhere else. You get the one goth guy in Idaho who is trans now but you get the 35% percent in districts in California. It’s not organic…it’s silly to even think it.

The No 1 problem is young ages who are being targeted…this is morally wrong. And if schools push to hide it from parents that’s simply corrupt and there will be legal ramifications for it. Parents decide, not the schools or teachers

If there's one thing I admire about conservatives it's the amount of fight in them - there is no fight too small. Always on the attack.

Wish there were some liberals that did the same thing. John Fetterman comes to mind - he's been on the offensive about Dr. Oz living in Jerzee while running for PA Senator. But his health isn't the best and I'm sure it will cost him a few votes. Kinda hope this starts a new trend because the conservative playbook is modeled after Trump now - he just attacks any slight no matter how small. And he never apologizes.

Real question ... how the hell did he/they get this "wrapped up" so quickly. The arrest was about 2 months ago .. and hes already sentenced? Courts are backed up in Maryland pretty hard, I imagine CA is back logged.

Gotta get it done and let it go through the media ringer well before November.

Under the newest democrat vote buying plan, shall I be expecting a check in the mail for $10k?

Or does my family and me get to pay 100% of all my college expenses and now get to help pay for millions of other people's college degrees too?

Being a democratic politician is so easy. Just give away millions, billions, trillions of other people's money then call them assholes for not being OK with it.

Shouldn’t we be tackling the cost of going to college? This doesn’t fix a fucking thing. Middle and working class paying off debt for the people who make the most, disgraceful.

“Paying fair share”…maybe the college and universities sitting on large endowment should be taxed and the money returned to fund increasing tuition cost? That’s fair right? Fair share and all

Maybe try to be happy for those having their financial burdens eased just a bit vs being concerned over what you're not getting out of the deal.

It's the same thing as with the baby formula shortage - throw money at a problem without solving the underlying issues. It's the same thing all the time with these fuckers. They have no problem sitting up there being "in charge", willy nilly spending our hard earned money, while not fixing a damn thing. I couldn't be more opposed to this.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/24/bidens-student-loan-forgiveness-may-cost-taxpayers-prompt-inflation.html

"The National Taxpayers Union’s estimate of costs per taxpayer is based on data from the Penn Wharton Budget Model, which found the total cost of proposal could be $329.1 billion over 10 years, based on $10,000 in forgiveness for borrowers with less than $125,000 in income."

"Based on a total of under 158 million taxpayers in 2019, that works out to $2,085.59 per taxpayer, the National Taxpayers Union found."

"Canceling student debt will boost near-term inflation more than the Inflation Reduction Act that was recently enacted would reduce it, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget found in a recent analysis. Moreover, it found that canceling student debt would also undermine the deficit reductions in that law recently passed by Democrats."

“Higher education is one of the most difficult, thorny problems that you really need to get into how universities and graduate schools are financed and what kinds of changes would make it more affordable. This accomplishes none of that.”

Yeah, let's just all be happy. Let's also be happy for those of us who will now have a financial burden, because we are picking up the bill for those who now have their financial burdens eased?

Let's be real...this isn't about being concerned over what "we're" not getting out of the deal. It's about not addressing the real issues. It's punishing the wrong people monetarily, and not holding the right people, systems, and entities accountable.

But whatevs - let's just all be happy. That's what our government wants. Give me your hard earned money so I can turn it into more problems, and we can all be happy...

Northern democrats are pushing for SALT cap increases which only benefit the top 1% or the truly wealthy…and increasing IRS size which will overwhelmingly target small business, working and middle class. And they just raised taxes on them as well as energy prices.

Democrats spending lead to this inflation and energy prices increases as well…they are still spending without regard to the economic environment

There's a difference between "losing your shit", and just wanting your government to fix the real problems, rather than just constantly throwing money at them.

The tax code is a problem. No news there. Those who have the lawyers and accountants to find all the loop holes are at a big advantage. One more thing we have all been wanting our awesome government to fix for y e a r s...but here we are...

Tuition costs have definitely become outrageous. Looking back now I have serious second thoughts on whether going to graduate school was worth it. But there's such an emphasis on education in this country vs learning a trade. Wish more options were presented back in high school. If your grades were good you were pushed towards college and trade school wasn't even mentioned as a viable alternative.

You do know that forgiving debt drives up the costs even more. Will look up the study but the main reason for the massive drive up in graduate and post graduate costs over the last 30 years was the easy access/flooding of government money (thru loans and grants).

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

College costs are just insane.

Wish State schools took more in state students vs prioritizing out of state tuition. You live in Maryland but UMD defers you bc they prioritize out of state tuitions from NJ/NY. Flip side, Nj/NY kid gets deferred by Rutgers bc they prioritize out of state tuitions from MD.

So NJ/NY kid pays 50k a year to go to MD, MD kid pays 50k a year to go to Rutgers.

Colleges get more money. Student lenders get more money.

Parents and kids get straddled with decades of debt.

I know we all cant be born into the billionaire Swanson food family but at least we should take their advice on "boot straps" and "hard work" from them.

-----------------

College costs and health care .... we need some real solutions. College cant just be for the elite and international.

Our kids get told to go to community college for 2 years .. so rich out of state and international kids can enjoy the "american college experience".

SunnySide 08-25-2022 11:25 AM

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

One easy practical step

Increase annual amount the 529 funds can be used. Currently in Maryland its 10k per year. 10k isnt a door opener when our kids have to go to Rutgers for 50k a year bc out in state school de prioritizes us.

Just increase it to 20k a year. Then have riders that increase it by 1k every year.
