Well, JG certainly knows Jackson's strengths and weaknesses having gameplanned for him twice a season. It would be interesting to hear the conversations between Haslett, JG and BA about how hard they should pursue him. Riley, Jackson Barnett(is he still on our roster) and a rookie might be a nice ilb group.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Do we resign Rob Jackson now that Orakpo seems hopeless? Looks we are not going to tag him and talks seem to be not in the same ball park.
I hope he goes to Dallas. Lol |

I hope he goes to Dallas. Lol
I'd like to re-sign Rak. Just not above several mil and 4 mil guaranteed. Look at these guys contracts. LOL Cowpukes, though I guess Spencer's in the last year of his typically backloaded contract? |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Free agency hasn't even started and all is lost with Rak?
Can't blame him for wanting to test the market and see what's out there. |

That type of contract will never happen because those numbers don't begin to approach his market value. You should just simply say that you would let him walk. We'll see what happens. If the Skins let Orakpo walk, I think they should keep an eye on DeMarcus Ware's situation. If he's healthy enough, he might still have some gas in the tank. That said, I just don't know what the Skins braintrust is thinking about the upcoming season. Are they going to try to win or are they rebuilding? Are they only going after younger players? DeMarcus Ware might not be a consideration for the Skins depending on their strategy. |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Rumor is that we're going to go after Mike Mitchell to play FS.
Riley Cooper is expected to sign a 3/4 year deal to stay in Philly and they want to offer Maclin a 1-year deal to keep him too. I bet Maclin could get a longer deal elsewhere, will be interesting to see if he accepts. |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
anyone who only wants to keep rak at 6mill or less per year doesn't actually want to keep him. he's going to get money.

Yes and anyone that wants to give him 10 million per year can have him. |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
... and who are you replacing him with? Rob Jackson? I like the guy, but he also wants starter money and if you think he approaches skillset or brings to the team what Rak does ... well someone cue the Tinkerbell meme. He may come cheaper, but not dirt cheap AND there is the old adage "you get what you pay for." You want a cheap fix for a top 10 OLB - that's what you get.
But hey, let's let Riley go 'cause (maybe) he wants a little more than market. Let's let Rak go b/c he wants market price. Replacing 3/4's of our LB'ers? Priceless. |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Rather overpay Rak than Riley by a good mile
|
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
This is a 25-30 rank defense, we need alot of players. There are alot of upgrades in free agency that aren't big names. Spend alot of cap money to resign our own, and where does that get us? Need to bring in guys to compete, and not overpay guys that aren't making an impact.

Keim talking about Jackson in DC. I certainly think we are interested, looks like DJ already has a meeting set up with a team today. |
Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Sadly the Eagles are smart in taking care of their own. I hope that we follow suit with Rak and Riley.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
