Good. I was watching the Canucks play tonight and I got to thinking. You know why the NFL is struggling financially? It's because they don't have a pair of pro bowl Sweedish twins playing on the same team. Of course the Pouncey's aren't Sweedish, but Joakim Noah played at UF and was part Sweedish so that has to count for something. Anyway if this happens the CBA/lockout will be resolved.

Please, Locker will not be gone when we pick at 10.
All this bullsh*t talk is just trying to get us QB poor teams to get desperate and reach for a Qb. So the value players slip to the teams picking after us. I would not be surprised if Gabbert or Newton slip as well. These Qb's are way over valued due the NFL convincing themselves and trying to convince us that the NFL is a QB league.
That still does not change the fact that this class of QB's are good but not great. Can't polish a turd.

The NFL is really selling that and everyone is swallowing it whole.
Out of the current Qb's in the NFL, the one with the most Superbowl rings is a 7th round pick that was a projected career backup. Not the savior franchise QB picked first overall in his draft. It is misguided to think you have draft a QB in the top of the draft to be good.

No team will win a superbowl without a well rounded [B]team[/B]. You also have to have a good defense and offense. Don't forget a decent offensive line and changing the rules to protect your savior and to try increase the value of QB's.
If you have a major deficiency at any one or two position groups, you can have Peyton Manning and Brady on the your team and you will get beat by the well rounded teams. Which is why Peyton Manning only has one ring and Brady has three.

Of course you need a good team to go along with your QB, that goes without saying, but teams that lack franchise QBs are typically the ones that are drafting in the top 10 each year.

The Brady example is a poor one as he is clearly the exception to the rule. Generally, top QBs are 1st round picks. I believe 26 of the 32 starting QBs in the league last year were 1st rounders. You generally don't find your franchise guy in later rounds.

Take a look a the team stats, the worst teams also rank at the bottom (team stats) as the worst overall defense and give up the most sacks. By contrast look at the ranking of the best in passing yards, #6) Dallas #7) Denver #8) Washington all terrible teams. Adding a franchise QB to these teams that have miserable defense and have problems protecting their Qb will just get their new Franchise QB killed. I know you know this. All I am saying others are misguided to think a weak team will be a playoff team if they just get a franchise Qb. It is not all just the Qb's fault. That's like trying blame McNabb for all of our problems last year. Oh wait some here did do that. Ha!

On your second point, there is a big difference spending a top 1-5 or even 1-10 pick on percieved "Franchise QB" as opposed to picking one at the bottom first or top of second. We are talking the difference MILLIONS of dollars of guaranteed money and increased expectation. There is a big difference between the the top pick and the 32nd pick. Can't group them all as one.

The lions share of these victories came in a different era (aside from Brady and Brees: who would be a late first rounder this year). The recent rule changes on how DB's can play WR's also lends to this NFL era being more of a QB league.

From what i hear the line backer group dives after von miller and akeem ayers. But aparently there are some decent thrid or fourth round talent maybe even fifth. If we get any picks for McNabb or we get some from trading down there are some decent options

Browns and Vikings talking potential trade. Browns would get their own 1st round pick as well as the Vikings and give up their 2nd and next year's 1st.

I guess it depends on how the chips fall with the first 5 picks and then the next 5

And, as I mentioned the other day, Browns are also a possible trade partner for us

And I've heard this trade up scenario that's being discussed for us could actually include a conditional 2nd that could escalate to a 1st in 2012 (as opposed to a guaranteed 1st)

Um.. If we're moving up to 6th, there should be no first rounder involved, but if we're talking 2,3,4 then if a team allows us to make restrictions towards the picks, they're delusional. It just won't happen.

Yeah, is it wrong for me to all of a sudden not like Kaepernick? I was rooting for the team to pick either Dalton, Ponder, or Kaepernick but since the Raiders are interested in Kaepernick it tells me he's not worth it. All they do is take the fastest player, or freak. In this case I'm sure it's because he's 6ft 6. but everyone they choose usually ends up being a dud.

I'd take him in the 4th as a WR. (not that we have a 4th)
