Colt = Noodle Arm. With him at QB, the deep passing game goes away.
If Cousins is not signed Monday, I'd trade is sorry ass for the highest pick anyone will give us on Tuesday. #colttrain

If we do resign him, I love him and he's my favorite player in the NFL.

Now that Garcon is gone I have to pick a new fav Skins (favorite NFL) player. I'll make this choice on Tuesday.
Why would anybody give up picks for a guy they can get in FA next year?

I'd assume at least 1 team would prefer a year's headstart.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

This is bullshit. The guy has been a great teammate (sat behind RGIII without compliant probably knowing he was a lot better), improved in the one area that was a deficit - turnovers, broke franchise records in consecutive years (and with little help in the run game), and has done everything asked of him. We haven't had a QB like him in ages. If they squander this opportunity, they're idiots. With a middling D last year, that offense could have done some damage in the playoffs. And with the cap going up as it does, 3 years from now what it would take to keep him won't look bad.

And for those thinking we can plug in Colt or just draft a QB, I ask you how well that mentality has worked in the last quarter century.

I wish this franchise would stop getting in its own way. It's infuriating.

Say goodbye to KC after this year. Our front office are full of fucking morons. THis team is so fucking stupid. They could have had the guy for 19/20 mil per year and waited so now it's 25mil/yr. Now these fucking idiots are going to wait even longer for when the price tag will be up to 30mil/yr. Fucking morons.

Kirk Cousins is not expected to sign a long-term deal by Monday’s deadline, but is open to doing deal with team after season, per source.

This about sums it up. I really hope they get it together and get something done. If I were KC, I'd feel pretty slighted.

I can't help but feel KC bears a lot of the blame. If- as your tweet by Schefter says - he is willing to talk after the season then he should have been willing to sign this off season but he is using the FT to the hilt and trusts our line is going to keep him from a season ending injury. If the Skins offered anywhere near market value there is no reason KC should not have signed.

Kirk is throwing away the security of a long term deal by not compromising with the team, IMO.

I doubt the team is lowballing him, but any long term deal is WAY better than being on the franchise tag from year to year.

He's being all business, and so is the team. I just don't get why either he or his agent, don't see the value of a security of a long term deal.

But whatever, this is a "win now" league and the team has him for the upcoming season. And I guess that's what matters for now.

KC is getting his value. The problem is the Skins don't think he's worth it, and KC sees it in their negotiating. He's not going to stick around unless you give him a top tier contract. Period. The skins have absolutely fucked this up and we all know it. Could have had him at 19mil/yr, now we're looking at 30mil/yr if it goes to 2018. Bruce Allen and Dan Snyder will continue to be the reason why this team fails.

KC is throwing away the security of a long term deal. I'm fine with the team not going over the top and waiting one more year if Kirk's side is not willing to compromise.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

The Redskins still have options after this season. They can use the transition tag and we can see what the market is for KC. The sky isn't falling.

Also the teams that might want him are shit. SF is garbage with no weapons. If things don't work out with Goff who the hell do they have? Tavon Austin? He is the most overrated, overpaid player in the league. The Jets? Total mess. Clev drafted Kizer.

His best options for his career are still here in Washington. KC is no dummy and he knows this. Plus.. as I said those teams might use the draft to get their franchise QB. Yes the Skins FO have totally messed this up beyond belief but they still hold the cards.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

This sounds like wishful thinking. I am sure there are several teams that would welcome Cousins in a heartbeat. How long does Carson have in AZ for example? Who knows if Bridgewater ever comes back in Minn? Better defenses than ours and at least a few weapons.

We haven't had stability in the QB position - a prerequisite for doing anything in the playoffs- since the early 1990s. What's it going to take?

Even if he has a mediocre year, I still think he gets over 20mil/yr.
