Sounds like the top 3 right now is shaping up to be Newton, Miller, Gabbert. Let's see if it stays that way

No no NOOOOOOOOOO! Gabbert is our QB. They can't have him! We had a pact!

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

I can't remember the last time a draft was soo unpredictable. It's just now starting to look like Newton will go number 1, but like I heard today, the Panthers like 4 guys pretty much equally here...By this time last year the Rams were negotiating with Sam Bradford.

And for us last year there was about 4 options as to who we could get, this year theres like several. I'm excited when it's etched in stone tonight as to who the hell we'll pick.

Heard this morning that the Panthers and Newton are working on the parameters of a contract. So it looks like he's locked in, almost

I would expect that from Kate or John.

If we take Ponder at 10, it would be as bad as DHB for Oakland

Well, at least the lack of free agency is f'ing up everyone's draft. But yeah it'd be pretty bad.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Yeah, is it wrong for me to all of a sudden not like Kaepernick? I was rooting for the team to pick either Dalton, Ponder, or Kaepernick but since the Raiders are interested in Kaepernick it tells me he's not worth it. All they do is take the fastest player, or freak. In this case I'm sure it's because he's 6ft 6. but everyone they choose usually ends up being a dud.
Source: Kaepernick is No. 1 QB on Raiders’ draft board | ProFootballTalk
If it weren't for some of Al Davis' crazy 1st & 2nd round picks, the Raiders would be a pretty talented team. they've done pretty well overall, but there team has been set back by taking guys like Heyward-bey & Russell, and that unknown safety in the 2nd. But, they have built a decent roster otherwise, e.g. they drafted Heyward-bey in the 1st but got Louis Murphy in the 4th I think. the latter has made an impact.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

My ideal draft today would be to trade back, get Cam Jordan then use the extra pick gained in the trade back to trade up and take Dalton. Wheelin and dealin.

Taking Ponder at 10 would be a mistake but not as big a mistake as DHB.

I like this as well, but I think NE might would jump up to take Jordan. It's a huge gamble.

Jordan with the first pick.
Ponder with the second. (or move up to end of first)

Interesting mock draft (podcast) by the NFP guys. They have us trading with St. Louis, picking Cameron Jordan at #14 and picking up a 3rd rounder.

If Jordan is still on the board when we pick we may have a trading partner that will net us a 2nd round pick.
Git 'er done!

Any proposed Cowboys-Patriots trade will not happen. Yet there are any number of teams interested in moving back, including Dallas.

Mine definitely is.

In regards to the Schefter tweet above. Any team would be foolish to trade anywhere right now without seeing who's on the board first. Not unless you plan on going to #1.

Well obviously they wouldn't trade up until that team was on the board :laughing2

I hope we trade down with Atlanta so they can get Julio Jones. We pick up their 1st, 2nd and something else. Then we use that pick to get Phil Taylor and Leonard Hankerson or Ryan Williams.

Latest is Patriots and Falcons each have tentative deals in place to move into the top 10. Not sure with you. Falcons may be with Cleveland and NE with San Fran

Brian Baldinger: Just talked with Bruce Allen who said this draft is all about big men. Allen likes Tyron Smith. Been fielding trade offers from teams behind him. We have to stay married to our board.

What a shame. Rational thought has arrived in Ashburn.

ON A TUESDAY!

Had they waited, maybe they could have traded up ahead of Green Bay for Rodgers.

He doesn't like him as a pick for the Redskins but rather as a player. Still if we go O-Line I want a guard or center, not a Right Tackle. Ndamukong Suh anyone?

ALLELUIA! Sure I only fell in love with him a couple of hours ago but....yeah whatever f**k the Patriots.

Also Thomas Dimtroff is trying to get Atlanta up into the first half of the first round. Atlantas first pick is 27th overall. As someone said before they are targeting Green and Jones.

I do believe though that he gave us a big hint with the "this draft is about big men" comment. Tyron Smith though, thats just to f**k with Dallas who wants Smith but doesn't want to take him in the top 10.
