Not surprised to hear about Portis. Several years ago when he was still playing, he use to gamble with a client of mine. They'd go to Atlantic City and so forth. Anyhow, one time Portis pissed through a bunch of money at the tables. My client gave him 30k and Portis in turn wrote him a 30k check, which he showed me when we had to meet. But he use to tell me CP loved gambling.

Can't believe there is really any doubt over Portis' intelligence. I can remember one of the first times i heard him open his mouth, i was severely concerned about his future post-NFL.

No secret that I didn't like him while he was here. His me first attitude, coupled with the fact that he didn't believe in working out, or training camp / pre-season. Washington didn't find out he was a cancer until too late in his career.

I'll give him his due though - it's amazing that for a guy who didn't really train or do any kind of preperation, he was able to show up on Sunday and do what he did for so long. Makes me wonder how great he could have been if he would have been fully committed to practice / training etc.. After he was cut by us, i'll admit I was actually said when the reports came in about him showing up for his Patriots workout at almost 300 lbs....

He's definitely not the first or last player to not like practice or training camp. All I know is he balled out when it was game time.

I'm always a little puzzled when people hate on one of the most productive RBs in team history.

I dont hate Portis but he made a ton...a ton of money for a RB in his career. If his is excuse is gambling then he is a complete and utter idiot.

I couldn't agree more. I remember his first carry as a Redskin -- something like 60 yards for a TD against the Cardinals (I was at FedEx and the place went nuts). He was also not afraid to mix it up -- I think he was the best blocking RB we've ever had. Hardly the stuff of a prima donna. He liked to be the center of attention, to be sure, but he also brought it every Sunday.

I like CP and wish him well and hope he sorts out his financial situation (which sounds pretty bad).

Agree that Portis was a tremendous blocking back. Portis DELIVERED the blow to the defense. I haven't seen much of that from the RB position since he left.

Who knows what these numbers mean, but it's interesting that Griffin's rankings under pressure is 36th out of 37th among ranked QBs. He apparently gains 1.2 yards with a pass rush, vs. 7.9 without one. Clearly the blocking comes into play here, but that stinks.

Just hoping we're better this year.

him running into pass rushers is the bigger issue. he has no feel of pressure or pocket presence or whatever you want to call it.

Just hoping we're better this year.[/quote]I think Griff's low ranking under pressure is from inexperience and lack of comfort in a rhytm drop back passing offense. To my eye it seemed Griffin was unsure at times. And I agree that pass protection played a role but many times Griff could have avoided pressure by knowing and going through his progressions with more urgency. I think Griff has a chance to improve his under pressure performance. Another year in the system coupled with the addition of a QB coach should help. Once Griffin gains an implicit understanding where and when to throw his accuracy numbers show that the ball will get there.

I'm sure everyone has their own thoughts on why Griff's under pressure ranking is low. Whatever the reason Griffin's ability to fix it will determine whether he's gonna be the guy.

In several articles, Dan Synder has mentioned that he would love to build a stadium with all of the 'charms' of RFK Stadium.

So, once the DC United move out of RFK Stadium, why not demo the entire interior of the stadium, and rebuild it with all of the modern methods and technology. That way you get the retro with the new. Just a thought .

because dealing with DC makes people want to kill themselves, and they've also been pushing the name thing really hard, so i really doubt it happens in our lifetime.

He can't .There is the lease at FedEx and believe it or not much of the wealth of the Skins comes from the team owning FED Ex ,they(the Skins) don't own RFK so how do you propose they do this ?Stadiums in the NFL are running anywhere from 1.5 to 2 billion .

taxpayers pay for stadiums, at least partially, in almost all cases.

For the last 3 years, i've worked on the security system at RFK. It would cost more to renovate then build from scratch. In order to increase seating into what Dan would need, the foundations would have to be deeper and wider. And the electrical system would be a complete rebuild. That i can tell you first hand. That stadium is coming down.

Yes much of the revenue comes from the Skins owning FedEx, but the Redskins as a team and brand are much more valuable then the stadium. If the Clippers just told for 1.5-2 billion, then any NFL franchise that comes up for sale soon will easily eclipse that.

I understand that it factors into the face value, but if any team in the NFC East were to go up for sale the price paid would be more than the team is worth according to the numbers. The Giants, Cowboys, Redskins and Eagles would all sell for over 2.5 billion a piece.

Again , no the owners paid for any and all infrastructure from the stadium to the roads the state was all ready building as part of the new mall which was already planned to begin with , the old stadium was paid for .

Have a lady who worked with me for years who was a total bitch, mediocre performer, and everyone was like, "That's just her being her!" She finally got fired. I'm a sports fan, and God knows the Redskins have their share of faults, but when do you start realizing your team gives less than two-shits about being a "good guy" as long as it helps them win a football game.
