It might be a beginner ask (but since I'm a beginner it's not that bad), but for what I know (not much) free agency hasn't brought a lot of good to Redskins in the past few years, and I just thought maybe it's because right now we need to build a team that's going to last long... and seeking proven stars that would help us in the short term is not really the best thing to do in that situation... where am I wrong?

I was watching Sportscenter today and John Clayton said that we should expect the Redskins to be big players in free agency either getting an Aubrayo Franklin, Nnamdi Ashomogua, or a receiver that could fit shanahans offense like Sidney Rice or Santonio Holmes or even Burress (I believe he was mentioned)

France?! Nice, whereabouts...just don't tell Monkeydad you're from France.

I think largely you're right. We have made some poor mistakes in free agency but we've also made some good choices. Free agency is not a route we need to completely abandon. We just have to be smart about it

lol, seems we french are not liked so much on the other side of the ocean

And this year, what is the smartest move to make for the redskins in free agency?
Because here my fellow football fans, when they stop bullying me for being a redskins fan, say that we should try to get a QB free agent, but I have a better feeling with letting Beck or even Grossman have their shot.

Welcome French Skin, and in my opinion the best free agent prospects include OT ryan Harris of the broncos who was drafted by shannahan specifically for zone blocking. The next would be abroyo Franklin NT of the 49ers. Solid NT. and finally i would pick up a coner back in Ike Taylor or Johnathon Joesph

Some players just don't become very good no matter the continuity with the team. The key is to find guys that like football and fit your system well. Not to make Jason Taylor a run stopper, Haynesworth a gap filler, Deion a physical corner, etc

Thank you. So it seems obvious picking up offensive linemen is really important right now, I was surprised Shanahan drafted only one this year. But it was a very good thing to have 6 new guys on defense.
