Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Our next GM and HC are out there somewhere, and soon they’ll be coming together around one of those guys (or maybe Daniels) to rebuild this franchise. This should be fun, at least that’s what I’ve heard.

I've been hearing a lot about this kid....I need to watch film of him. |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
A mock draft a day keeps something or other away. Going to try all different scenarios on different positions at 2 overall. By draft time, no way Penix falls back down into Rd. 2. But the QB pool after the top 4 guys doesn't do much for me. Very likely going to have to go QB at No. 2.
2. Joe Alt - OT - Notre Dame 36. Michael Penix Jr. - QB - Washington 41. J.T. Tuimoloau - EDGE - Ohio State 67. Zach Frazier - OC - West Virginia 96. Cedric Gray - LB - North Carolina 98. T.J. Tampa - CB - Iowa State 132. Cam Hart - S - Notre Dame 163. Isaiah Adams - OG - Illinois 194. Roger Rosengarten - OT - Washington |
Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
If Penix is the guy they like. Realistically how far can you drop into the first and still grab him? 10th?

Exactly. I think if you move down you can’t get behind a QB needy team. I wouldn’t being comfortable moving behind the Patriots Consensus in the building Penix Jr is the guy, you take him at your pick |

I guess it will all depend on how his medicals go. If he gets a good medical grade by most teams, I wouldn't imagine him falling any lower than 10th. Maybe 15th. But I think top 10 would be about right. |

We don't even have a THEY yet making that decision. |

Consensus in the building Penix Jr is the guy, you take him at your pick
Agreed. My whole point is higher draft pick =/= better qb. Doesn't matter who the qb is if we pick the wrong GM and they pick the wrong coach. Mahomes - R1P11 Purdy - Mr. Irrelevant Hurts - 2nd round Tagovailoa - R1P5 Herbert - R1P6 Lamar Jackson - R1P32 Dak Prescott - 4th round Tom Brady - 6th round Aaron Rodgers - R1P24 Finding the next Peyton, Stafford, Aikman, etc. would be nice but it doesn't matter where we pick if we fuck up the pick. Far more 1st round pick bust qb's than stud qb's. |

Whoever you pick has to stay healthy and not do some stupid off field crap ( Burrow injuries, Watson off field issues) Then factor in the System fit .. If Purdy had gone here instead of SF do you believe he would have had the same success?? Flip Sam to SF and we could be saying how we should have picked Sam😳😀.. there is so many different ways to look at it .. there are 4 High profile QB out there to Draft .. History tells us 2 of them will never live up to their draft status ... that is why you don't trade up and lose more capital... there is NO way to know for sure .. i would not draft ANY player with Red flags or History of major injuries.. not with a top 3 pick ! |

For every Jalen Hurts in the second round there are like 8 Kyle Trasks. If we end up with a first round grade and they are available when we draft I say go for it. As the great Dr. Hunter S. Thompson said "Buy the ticket, take the ride" |

Above is a link to what I think is a very good comparison of Williams vs. Maye from NFL talent evaluators. Enjoy! |

https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/news/2024-nfl-draft-new-england-patriots-washington-commanders-arizona-cardinals-number-2-pick
People can say what they want about RR this season but this has been his best coaching yet for the team. Think about this just 7 weeks ago we were 4-6 and trying to battle for the 10th pick in the draft. 7 weeks later he has taken us as close to the top as we can get, yes with a little help along the way but lets give credit where it is due we couldn't have made it without Ron. Let's hope we don't have a let down in week 18 and get just a bit of help! |
