The rumors were JC to Cleveland for a 3rd and 4th, or Quinn and 4th, or Quinn and a 3rd.
I would do either of those where we are getting a #3 pick. I would probably trade JC for a #3 straight up. It's obvious Shanny doesn't want JC long term and the skins need to find a way to get a pick in the 3rd round of this draft.

I'd prefer Willie Parker to Larry Johnson. I think he'd be better in the one cut, zone blocking system.

I heard Pitt decidedly reduced Willie Parker's carries to get Mendenhall more, and it wasn't so much that he lost a step. Rashard was the future, so give him the ball.

In the last game of the year when the Steelers actually gave him a lot of carries, Fast Willie still showed his speed. He ran for 91 yards on 12 carries with a 34 yard breakaway run. True, the game was pretty much meaningless, but he looked healthy and like he still had some speed.

It appears as though some old heads are returning to their old squads. Randel El, now maybe Greg Ellis.

Ellis will NOT return to Dallas. He got released from Oakland because of arthritis in his knees, plus Dallas has a STABLE full of OLB that are well below the age of 30.

He took it as a Jr and scored 14, then again as a Sr and scored a respectable 28, same as Peyton Manning. So if anything, he's studious, as we've seen.

Heath Shuler had a 16...and is now helping run the country. Yikes.

Check out that list I posted...a good score means nothing for football. :D

If most experts are right when being positive Sam Bradford goes #1 to the Rams, and saying the Lions are close lock to take Russell Okung at #2, that leaves Suh, McCoy, Berry, and Clausen ALL available at #4 which means it is much more likely that someone will want to trade up to our spot while we can trade down, still pick up the 2nd best LT on the board and acquire an extra pick or 2. This makes me happy

i agree... that was kinda my point about bradford. i think a bad score should raise some concerns, but a good score doesnt really mean anything, if that makes any sense.

No one on the planet would trade up to 4 to take Clausen, but if either one of Suh and McCoy were left on the board, our phone would be ringing off the hook. Unless I got an amazing offer, I'd take Suh or McCoy and feel like the luckiest team in the draft.

No one actually wants to hear my thoughts on Brady Quinn, but if the choices end up being to trade a 4th or 5th round pick for Quinn's rights or to take Jimmy Clausen with the 4th overall pick, this seems like such a no brain-er that I would probably have to blacklist those who didn't agree with me.
I imagine your thoughts on Quinn are the same as they were three years ago. Maybe we could get Tim Rattay to back him up?
Or maybe we could trade up for Sam Bradford, and back him up with Jevan Snead and John Skelton :tongue

The shorthand version: for one-reason or another, all other options are sub-optimal to keeping Campbell, and playing him behind a rebuilt OL. But in terms of developmental prospects, Quinn would be one of many options that could be picked up at the cost of a mid-to-late rounder. And not all of those options are equal, according to me.

I wouldn't trade up for Bradford, and I don't think Skelton fits here

But I'd rather spend a 5th on Snead than trade one for Quinn.

Well rumors tend to pick up again after a dead period sometimes. But I also wouldn't say they take awhile to get to the media. I mean how do you think I hear most of this stuff. It can take a while to get from the media to the public because more often than not it's not worth bringing up

I don't know, just figured some stuff didn't get reported, like you said. Either that or there are rumblings but they're waiting to report until there's something more solid instead of pulling a Florio.

I figured that Randle El would get picked up, but that Mason/Williams/Collins/Yoder/Smoot would not get any play after release. So this, I think, does have meaning.
