Actually Green Bay's line since Rodgers has been there has not been much better than ours. Rodgers just makes it look better. |

I wouldn't say that's the same as alienating. I mean I haven't heard of him doing something purposefully aimed at causing dissension. Britt got that report from somewhere, she didn't make it up
My problem with the report was that it was clearly something pretty inflammatory and she should have known that. As such, a little more investigation should have been done which, I am pretty sure would have demonstrated that it's premise (interruption of Griffin's interview in locker room) was based on something other than any alleged "alienation." Given the reaction from the locals, and inflammatory nature of the news, just seemed like pretty slipshod reporting. |

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Late in the game, Washington twice took the lead. Bridgewater led drives of 76 and 73 yards to help the Vikings take it back.
The straight-shooting Gruden was candid about the unit’s collapse. There was no way to sugarcoat it. “We didn’t get off blocks . . . and didn’t cover well enough in the secondary,” Gruden said. “We let them drive [76 yards] to take the lead. We go back down to score and take the lead . . . and they come back again. Very, very, very, very sickening.” from the post...this was the difference, cant let a rookie qb do that |
Eddie Lacy might disagree.
I think they are very comparable, we are probably a little worse at pass protection, but stronger run block.
Our run game isn't as strong as you seem to think we do a lot of stretch plays to cover for the weakness in our O-line. From what I've seen of their Offensive line, its a lot stronger at pass protection, and they are a pass oriented team. Skins are more balanced, and we suck at both really. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
This loss seems like it was absolutely on the defense. It's not like ST gave the Vikings short fields. The offense put a reasonable number of points on the board. Even Griffin's end of half interception, was around midfield. That said, this team needs everyone executing 100% to beat other teams, and so far this season, that's really only happened 2 times.
As for Griffin, the only way his delivery speeds up is by playing the games. So let's see how the rest of the season goes, assuming he stays healthy, and he gets time to develop. Would I wish that it was different, yes, but at this point we know it's not. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Sorry, allowing 4th quarter drives of 70+ yards to a rookie QB with a lackluster running attack is a defensive low point.
In part, it was players failing to execute - being pulled from zone assignments by clearing routes or failing to understand where safety help is. At the same time, as someone else said (either on twitter or one of the local reporters), if the players are failing to execute your zone concepts consistently, then - as a coach - you need to find what is working for them. Hazlett has young corners who play a decent man coverage. Go with it and cover the top with safety help. If it exposes Riley, then design help for him or get him out. Maybe mix in some zone so the CB's can improve their skills on that but don't stick with a defense that is clearly not working. I am firmly in the time to dump Hazlett now camp. It's the bye week, ditch Raheem, Haz and promote Bradley. Not sure if he will be an improvement or if it would be giving someone a promotion beyond their capabilities, but - jeez - can he really be that much worse than Hazlett at this point? |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
The offense did enough points-wise to win, like someone posted the Vikings averaged about 12 points/game the last month. But Gruden doesn't control the clock or game with his offensive attack by passing to often and giving up on the run. Morris best runs will be over 20 carries, between 20 and 30 is his sweet spot. Has Gruden even given 20 carries in a game this season??
No excuses for the defense though, regardless of what Gruden and RG do with the rest of the season Haslett should be canned at the end. |

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
How many points did we allow in the fourth qtr? Teddy and the boys (although we did make them look good) are not exactly Tom and Gronk.
.....cannot be allowed to happen |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
You can't let Griffin off for that throw, that was Cousins bad... His mechanics were wrong, his decision was bad. The offense ran better with him at QB, but when you choke in a pressure situation you choke. He said it after the game himself.
There is hardly any talent on the defensive side of the ball. They are gonna have to win games by scoring minimum of 30 points. That is just the way it is. |

But you have to think a better scheme would get more out of this below average group. If your corners seem to play better in man, stop putting them in some stupid zone coverage. But in the end, it's always the players and we're lacking several on this defense. |

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Griffin was rusty...not as bad as I thought he would be but with him in Alf had a good day with nearly 100 yards and 2 td's. Offense looked viable and put up 26 on a very good D. Defense has some big holes. Be it Haz fault....mgmt....whatever's....
Weak link and pulling us down. Hard to see them playing like they did against a far better team in big d and playing like that against Teddy...... |
