Personally, I think the team is unsure if he will be able to come back 100% or come back on time. I also thought there was something wrong with Royster as well?
I'd probably cut Helu and take a chance on drafting someone fast/edge runner in the 6th round again. Otherwise the radio was talking about how the team could restructure some other players to get more CAP space to pick up another player if need be.
I agree with you. If they dont think he will be 100% by the start of the regular season, we should cut him and use a late round pick on somene else. Still, if he's healthy, i want him on the team. Royster, dont really care about him. |

Why re-sign Kedrick Golston? Team needs every penny going towards resolving the secondary.

I agree, but I think his deal is a vet min for three years with the big money coming from his signing bonus which I don't think counts to the cap. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Free agent RT Tyler Polumbus will visit the Jaguars on Thursday.
The Jaguars are in dire need of a right tackle after Cameron Bradfield and Guy Whimper stunk up the joint at the position last season. However, Polumbus wasn't much better in Washington. Jacksonville needs to be aiming higher for a starter. Source: Mike Jones on Twitter |

You are the second person today questioning whether signing bonuses count against the cap. Is there a new rule about signing bonuses that im missing?

No you are correct. Bonus(guaranteed) is not included in cap limitations. |

Guaranteed bonus is included in the cap calculations, but it is spread out over the remaining years of the contract. http://www.thewarpath.net/salary-cap-central/22635-the-warpath-presents-salary-cap-101-a.html What are Signing Bonus Allocations? - Signing bonus is guaranteed. It is usually received in a lump sum payment upon signing a new contract, though sometimes signing bonus payments are scheduled one or more years into the future. Signing bonus does not count in full against the salary cap in the year it is received. Instead, the signing bonus amount is allocated equally amongst the remaining years of the contract (6 years max). This is only for salary cap purposes; the player still receives the entire signing bonus amount up front. If the player is released or traded, any future signing bonus allocations accelerate to the present, and this amount will still count against the team's salary cap even though the player is no longer with the team. This is usually referred to as Dead Cap. |

what are you talking about? If signing bonuses didnt count against the cap, then the redskins could just sign every big name free agent out there, give them a 30-50million dollar signing bonus, and pay the vet minimum, with only the vet minimum counting against the cap. There would be no purpose to the salary cap if signing bonuses didnt count against it. Signing bonuses count against the cap. Teams just have the option of pro-rating the signing bonus over the length of the deal. Meaning, if its a 3 million signing bonus on a 3 year contract, teams have the option to split the bonus up so it only counts 1 million each year. |
Almost every defense in the NFL is unique. Halls biggest problem is he bites on plays and lets players behind him... And hall got dragged by jake delhome, I will never forget that. He's a good tackler for a corner, but for a safety he's below average and running backs and tight ends would drag him. I think I would draft a safety who played safety in college and has experience playing safety and understands he can't let someone behind him. So agree to disagree. I don't see hall playing safety all that well, especially with how inconsistent he is and how often he gets beat by average receivers
I like the idea of DHall playing FS for Dallas. |
