One of the interesting aspects of the story is the issue of the Redskins playbook that Lavar now refers to as "Arrington property now. New York Giants property now."

Not certain, but I thought that walking with a playbook when you left a team was a big legal issue.

I think someone else alluded to it. But I believe what really upset LaVar is that the team didn't bend over backwards for him, establish a different set of rules just for him. Almost all pro athletes spend their entire lives getting everything their way because they are the best each step of the way. But when they get to the pro level, they have to realize the majority of them are no longer unique. That they're just one of a whole team worth of "best players" and suddenly they have to go by the rules of the team, not their own. Some have trouble accepting this, I think LA is one of those guys.

What i dont understand is.....In college kickers had to practice kicking over ladders in order to account for LaVar...why couldnt he block more kicks????? He is a great athlete and i was a little sad to see him go. Bottom line is he just cannot cut it in complex systems where everyone has a lane and a job to do. 1st play of the game will be a misdirection and LaVar will be all the way over in no man's land!

It's getting a little too 'LaVar' for my liking.

LaVar will be out of his mind on Sunday and we'll take advantage of it early and often.

I agree, the playbook comment worries me more than anything he's going to do on the field. That could be a real problem if they truly have our defensive playbook.

It really doesn't matter if he has a playbook or not.

Any team can look at film and see what other teams do.

It's the [U]game plan[/U] that matters.

It's no secret LA and Dale Lindsey didn't get along. I don't think Lindsey planned to make those comments, I think they just came out. That's the story here. Remember the conspiracy theories floating around why LA wasn't playing. The moment of truth came out and that truth was that LA didn't know the system-couldn't play in the system-didn't spend the time to learn the system.

What really took me by suprise was a player whom is respected, Springs, said the same thing.

I'm sure these comments kind of stung. I defended LA while he was here and really didn't want to believe someone w/ his potential and athletic ability couldn't fit in this defense. It's kind of sad actually. Wish it would have turned out differently, but the nfl is a business in the end.

I don't think it is that big of an issue on game day. It is a huge document. It is like getting Chef Gordon Ramsey's cook book. Having it doesn't tell you what he is going to do in his resturaunt that day or how you can prepare something exactly like he does.

I think it is more of a principal thing.

Sounds like someone has been getting caught up on old episodes of Hell's Kitchen on their TiVo.

Like Matty said, the game plan is more important. Plus, we all know that we haven't been blitzing the same with Springs out, so it's probably a bit different this year than it was when LA was here.

It is a team rule that when you go out, the playbook goes in. There's no way he has the teams playbook to give to the Giants, even if it were true, he'd be a fool to admit it. I don't believe one word of it, it's just LaVar being LaVar running off at the mouth again. What he needs to be concerned with (since he's going to try and play defense) is the offense's playbook. You know, even a fish would avoid being caught if he kept his mouth shut, and for some reason this is something LaVar has never learned to do.

yeah but having Gregg William's crazy zones all convienently diagrammed up would be a boon for ANYbody.

what worries me more is deciphering the calls. on offense or defense, they'll be able to read the hand signals and adjust.

remember the 36-0 whipping? i think the week BEFORE they had just finished getting a Redskin (Pierce, Hasselbeck or Morton) and got all the fresh calls.

The playbook thing is a non-issue. It all comes down to execution. The 36-0 loss they hung on us last year had more to do with them riding an emotional high that we couldn't match than having a few ex-Redskins on their roster. It sure didn't help them in the December rematch.

Even still what hand signals will LaVar know for our offense? I mean even though Saunders and Gibbs offense are very similar, I highly doubt that they use the same hand signals and audibles and what not...

Also, dont think that for a minute that our guys have forgot about the 36-0 embarrassment of a game that was last year. So I expect our guys to be just as pumped as to not let that happen again...

execution, exexcution, and execution. and besides, what the hell was morton going to show them? he barely grazed the field while he was here. you can know whats coming, but if we execute, the play will still work

I have to agree, it really all comes down to execution, I mean look at the cheifs last year, everyone and their brother knew that KC was going to run the ball, and yet LJ still got crazy stats!!!
