I don't think anybody expected the Giants game to be easy. Then again, I don't think anyone thinks a playoff team shows up in Giants Stadium and plays with such lack of fire, lack of passion, and lack of intensity that the Redskins had on Sunday.

The 'Skins can get on a roll and get things going from here on in (it's hard as hell but it's possible). But to do so, they've got to get intense in a hurry. The team's attitude has to change, or we're toast by week 10.

It happened last year to the tune of 36-0.

In the bigger picture this is NFL parity at it's best. Isn't this exactly what the NFL wants? A team can look unstoppable one week and then get trounced the next.

I miss the days of NFL powerhouses and the classic playoff rivalries. Now you don't know what team is going to show up each sunday.

You're right. The Redskins responded to that ass-whooping, and the beatdown by the Chargers and the Raiders, and made the playoffs.

They responded because their pride was wounded and they played like a tiger backed into a corner. If they want to repeat last year's epic playoff push, they have to duplicate the same emotions that drove them on that playoff push.

Hopefully they respond. They did it before so they can do it again. But Gibbs needs to make sure he gets through to those guys: just because you fought your way back in last year doesn't make it any easier to do it again this year. As Gibbs loves to say, the past buys you nothing but memories and relationships. You want to reel off a big winning streak again? Then you've got to change your attitude, just like you did last year. You have to get mean, get physical, feel pride in your efforts, and play with intensity.

I worry that the guys will feel like "oh we came back from this last year, we can come back again." Doesn't work like that, it doesn't just happen. They made it happen last year by changing their mindset. You must change your mindset this year. Luckily Gibbs is there to remind them of that, which I'm sure he'll do. Times like this are why he's in the hall of fame, nobody gets through to players like him.

The playoffs are going to be really tough to reach, but it's going to be fun watching this team try.

We need to get to 10-6.

As you look at the schedule, you gotta figure we're in trouble when we go to Indy and go to Philly. If we lose those two games, we're up to 5 losses.

Schneed - don't concede the Colts game so easily. They are a very shaky 4-0. Their run defense has been ATROCIOUS - just look at the numbers. That is a game where our O-line must assert itself as it did against the Jags. Do that and we can definitely stay with Indy.

the colts DEs are serious, they can shake up brunell if he's as anxious as he was last week :/.

Let's just handle the Titans first. With the way things looked last week I wouldn't chalk this one up as automatic.

But their DE's are very light in the pants when it comes to stopping the run. Establish the rushing attack and those DE's won't see many 3rd and longs where they can pin their ears back.

I think your view of Sunday's result may depend on your opinion of the Giants. I DID NOT pick the Giants to go to the playoffs this year and I think I'll be proved right. I know a lot of folks have a higher opinion of that team which may explain why they counted that game as a loss going in. I had the Vikings making the playoffs over the G-Men.

My picks to make the NFC playoffs were:

Seattle
Washington
Tampa Bay (whoops)
Minnesota
Dallas
Chicago

This is why I wasn't overly concerned by the first two losses. But the Giants are garbage. I don't care where you play them, you've got to find a way to win.

yeah, we tend to be run, run, pass on downs, and their DEs aren't very good vs the run, but if brunell thinks there might be pressure, it may be just as bad as actual pressure :/.

their defense has holes though. but keeping up with that offense can be harsh.

Here's another reason the comparisons to '05 need to end: Last year we had a defense we could almost always count on. Save for a blowout at Giants Stadium, a shootout with Tampa Bay, and a long run in OT by Tomlinson, Williams & Co. gave us everything we asked for.

This year? Not so much... We have inconsistency on offense, pretty much the way we saw it last season, but this time ZERO help from the D. And no, it doesn't all hinge on Shawn Springs.

AMEN - Our D is getting gashed. No QB pressure, arch looks completely lost and our corners cant cover their own shadows. we will be lucky to win 6 games. if you see more on the schedule, point them out. I dont see more than that

Somebody forgot to tell New England in 2001, 2003, and 2004, and Chicago this year that the NFL is all about parity. The Bears seem to handle whatever comes their way every week.

Yeah, just like the Giants secondary couldn't stop anybody? Weren't we supposed to go Dresden on their ass?
