Re: It's Landry!
didn't take him long to make a smart ass coment about the pick:
"And how about the Washington Redskins, who just about elevated redundancy to an art form, selecting LSU safety LaRon Landry, arguably the draft's top defender, with the No. 6 overall pick? Landry is a potentially brilliant player but, even with the resurgence of the safety position in the NFL, he may have been a luxury, given that Washington already has safety in Sean Taylor, the fifth overall pick in 2004. Washington is the first team to use two top-10 picks on safeties, a fact that mattered little to Landry. "We should be a killer combination," Landry told ESPN.com by phone from his parents' home in Metairie, La. "I watched a lot of when he was in college, at Miami, although I haven't seen a lot of him in the pros. But he's one of the guys I've tried to emulate during my own career. On my visit with the Redskins, I met with (defensive coordinator) Gregg Williams. He seemed like a perfectionist, but also a real smart guy, so he'll figure out a way to use both of us. I'm not worried about us being the same kind of player." NOT the Lions who took a Receiver in the first round 4 out of the last 5 years ???? REALLY LENNY ? |
Re: It's Landry!
I just hope that we can add more depth at the d-line WITHOUT giving up one of next years picks.
Yeah, I've got to say that I was surprised that the Redskins did not give up some of next year's picks to secure additional picks this year. I was happy they didn't as I still do not see the logic of trading a 1st for a 2nd this year or a 2nd next year for a 3rd this year. But, it's kind of hard to swallow that the team gave up this year's 2nd rounder for a guy that they were about to replace with Lance Briggs. That second rounder could have snagged S Eric Weddle, OG Justin Blalock, OG Tony Ugoh, DE LaMarr Woodley, MLB David Harris, FB/RB Brian Leonard, OC Ryan Kalil, DE Quentin Moses, or MLB Buster Davis. Maybe Rocky will be a stud, but their attempt to replace him doesn't inspire confidence. It's similarly hard to swallow that we lost the opportunity to draft guys like CB Marcus McCauley, DT Tank Tyler, S Aaron Rouse, CB Daymeion Hughes, and DT Quinn Pitcock because we traded for Duckett. |
Yeah, watching guys like Aron Sears, Chris Houston, Steve Smith go later then expected was so tough. With all the depth this year it was not an opportune time to have no picks.
I've been saying that since February!!! I even started forums on this sh*t!!! BUT No One Listens! It sucks being right sometimes, even when you don't want to be. |

Re: It's Landry!
personally, I was thrilled when we picked him. Any other D player would have been a toss up in how productive they would be. Landry is as close to a sure thing as we were able to get. IT was a safe and smart pick. I can't wait to see landry, taylor, and Carlos for many, many years.

Re: It's Landry!
Nothing against Landry, but i am disappointed with the outcome of the first day of the draft.
Needed to address d-line, needed to get more picks, didn't do either. It is that simple as far as i am concerned. |

It was clear that they didn't get a good enough offer for that. The mistake was made last year by giving up a really high second round pick this year for Rocky McIntosh last year. That one killed us. Then a 3rd rounder for Duckett who isn't even on the team, a 4th for Lloyd just barely escaped getting the axe ... It's sickening. |
Re: It's Landry!
I guess we will have on of the best secondaries in the NFL. Meanwhile, we will have QB's that will have all day to exploit our highly drafted and hyped-up secondary. We will continue to get gashed on running plays. And, God help us when we are in goal-line situations. But, hey guys our secondary is a great tackling bunch, too bad that they will be making tackles in the end-zone. Maybe we will get some help come June 1st.

Re: It's Landry!
fantastic we have two good safties but what about our sucky dline. Still cant stop the run or a damn pass rush not a great pick. I dont care how good your safties or corners are if you dont have a pass rush and the qb has 20 seconds to pass the wr will get open.

Re: It's Landry!
Hey Chief, it will be okay. Next year when we are drafting in the TOP 5 in rounds 1 through 5, maybe we can address our pathetic D-line. I was hoping for a draft day deal that would have helped us out. Oh, that's right GW is a freaking genius
|
Re: It's Landry!
only good thing that has come out of this nightmare is as of right now we have all of our picks for next year. But the only bad thing about that is Vinny and danny still will be making the picks. Why cant we get a real football man to run this team.
|
Re: It's Landry!
Vinny could be out soon.
|
Re: It's Landry!
Prediction!!! There will be at least 2 ambulances on the fields we play on this year....and aint gonna be a Skin the paramedics are talking to.
|
Re: It's Landry!
I don't give two shits about who gets "jacked-up"! I care about wins, and more wins. When we have obvious needs, we should address them. Who knows, maybe all this talk about our current D-line sucking will inspire them to show us a little something. I feel sorry for guys like P-lo who are trying to re-hab and get back on the field and earn a spot on the team. This has to smack him in the face. And our man ST, will this mean that he will replaced by LL? Because, you know it's typical for us to draft the one good player, have him play on our team for couple of years, and not resign him to only have him go to another team to be a stud.
