I know there is a ton people with the "hey we aren't out of it yet" mentality. and realistically we are still IN IT. but come on, what gives any of you the reason they can beat any of the 4 teams we have left on the schedule? face it, we are not a good football team, and we are not very well coached. How many of you sat there yesterday and wondered if we were going to win with 2 minutes to go? I sat there and told this guy, we are going to run it 3 times, punt, and lose on a last second field goal. This is WHO WE ARE. at the very same time, I was looking at the colts - jags game. they were in the same situation, up 3 with 2minutes to go. They on the other hand are running their offense, trying to get first downs, to win the game with the ball. This is a true example of what has been said time after time out here. Joe doesn't play to win, he plays not to lose. this crap has cost of 5 or more games this year.

yesterday was a perfect time for this team to rebound and get back in the season, and what did we do, took a face dive. typical of Redskin football the last 4 or so years.
+1

When the Redskins had the ball with less than two minutes to go, I knew they would not get that first down and run out the clock, and that they would have to punt it away and give the Bills one more chance. I also knew that they would give up a long pass over the middle to set up a Bills FG and that the Redskins would lose 17-16. I figured, hey, the Skins have choked away several halftime leads already this year...why should this game be any different? Sadly, I was proven 100% correct.

BTW, the Redskins will lose all four of their remaining games and finish 5-11. Sad but true.

What I want to know is if you're so clairvoyant as to have predicted everything that happened yesterday. And you're so sure they won't win another game...will you still watch? And if so, why?

Re: There's alot of negative energy in here surrounding the playoffs well....

we all watch because we are fans of our Redskins. win or lose. this is addressed in another thread of questioning ones fanhood. just because we have seen so many Redskin losses over this season go the same way this one did, you could kind of feel this one was going to end up the same way.
We all watch because we want to grasp onto a particular drive or play that gives us hope that maybe this game, or maybe the next play. We all watch because this is who we are. we are Redskin fans that keep supporting our team week in and week out. I bitch and maon every week about the crap I see on the field and more importantly the crap coming from the sidelines, but I find my self every sunday with the same nervous excitement that we will kick who evers ass we are playing.
Every week I will be there w/ the Cooley Jersey on infront of a ton of Carolina Panthers fans screaming and hollering like we are winning the freaking super bowl.
This is why I watch, this is why I will continue to watch every game, every week, every year. Because I know, eventually, hopefully before my ticket punched, I will see that team I want us to be , the champs!

Honestly, I will not talk about playoffs until we win next week.

We have to prove we can beat a team like the Chicago bears. Once that happens, let the talk begin.

One game at a time...

I'm pessimistic, but I won't give up all hope until we're mathematically eliminated. What else ya gonna do?
So does your reasoning indicate that this game was yet just ANOTHER game in a long history of Gibbs 2.0 games where Washington had a halftime lead only to lose at the end of the game?
Sadly yes. I wish it wasn't true, but instead of winning games Gibbs seems to search for ways not to lose. Two totally different mentalities.
Sadly yes. I wish it wasn't true, but instead of winning games Gibbs seems to search for ways not to lose. Two totally different mentalities.
It happens to much to be a coincidence. Running the ball that last time when we couldn't run the ball all game was abysmal. That play you've got to pass. It's a no-brainer.

Our ground game was non existent, and all we needed was one more first down. We should have run play action, and taken a shot to Cooley or just hit CP in the flat. Did JG not trust JC? Shoot, even a screen pass to counter a blitz would have worked. It was an terrible call.

Also, You've got to give the Buffalo's young QB credit for completing that long pass to set up the game winning FG. Great throw, great catch. So frustrating. I heard so many people exiting the stadium saying things like "Never again, I'm never going to another game". Cracked me up.

Everyone has said this but here goes...

What makes anyone think we can actually win the rest of our games? I'm all for optimism but we're not exactly a good team. We need about 2 years of draft picks in 1 year and we're missing a couple of picks for 2008. I'm alllllmost to the point semi-blowing this thing up and "rebuilding." Even though we never built anything. I love our team and we have really good guys, but i can't take the "Gibbs" football anymore. I'll watch every single play and root for the skins no matter what but i don't know what direction this franchise is going in.

We should have run a reverse like the Saints did. That worked out great for them.

But seriously, I think a running call was probably the right call. But as I said earlier I would have run a draw out of the shotgun or maybe a short screen pass (essentially a running play)

What I still don't get is why no one ever seems to believe Al Saunders calls the plays on offense when they don't work.

Sadly, we did throw a screen to Portis to get the first down on the 3rd down prior.

My only dash of optimisim is that w/the exception of last year, Gibbs teams always play well in December. Even in 04, we finished 3-2.

The book says to run the ball, drain the timeouts and play defense. They did that and came up on the short end again.

I would have liked to see them throw a safe pass, "running out the clock" doesn't have to be taken literally. We were 5-6, once we got them to use their time outs I would have loved to see them take a chance to win the game, one more first down = game over.

I find myself absolving Saunders when the offense bogs down, but only because I find it hard to believe that we're paying $2 mil a season for the offense that I see on Sundays. Accountability is sorely lacking, we need a jerk up in the front office, someone unafraid to ask the tough questions, like "Is this person earning their money?"
