I would agree with that about the Oline, they are terrible. But when I watch JC this year and he gets time to make a play, 9 times out of 10 he cant. He is afraid to throw, gun-shy, going through progressions too fast and flat out missing guys who are open....I just havent seen it from him. The turnovers especially the fumbling...every QB gets hit but he fumbles more than others.
exactly. even when he does get time he doesnt remain calm and make the proper reads.

No, but I see the problems of the redskins and it's is squarely on the QB shoulders. We need a new attitude on this offense. Some HEART. What are Garcia's strengths.

He has excellent feet
He will get the ball out quick
He is a fighter, who never gives up
He will pull the trigger and throw the long ball

He's old yes but we all know in reality that we will be drafting a qb next year any way. so why not take a chance?
He has proven to be a good backup, surprisingly. He is not a solution at RT long term. He is not starters material. I would like to see them keep him around for depth.
Circumstances, some of which we are familiar, some of which we're not, has contributed to his shortcomings in the NFL. His weight problem is the one most highly recognized as well as publicized. However, when a player is selected what, # 4 overall in the draft (before his problems began) to suggest he's not starting material means the Bills had to be awfully confused. He may not now be the player he was drafted to be, and may not be our long-term slution, but with our situatin being what it is he's serviceable nontheless.

what qb in his right mind would sign with us right now with our protection issues.

Re: The line is quite offensive right now

Agree that he is servicable at this time given our state of being the worst Oline in the league. The comment that he is not starters material on any other team other than ours is in context at this time, not years ago when drafted by the Bills. I believe alot of teams at the 4th pick back then would have selected him. Not faulting the Bills for their pick. But in general they are confused...

Even the announcers said JC steps up into sacks and I have said that myself several times. Time for JC to go. Maybe he can find a team like the Colts so he can stand back there and miss his open WR.

Someone who wants to play and start! I thinks if the offense could have some confidence the line might step up. We have play makers, we need someone who will get others involved.

On the list of FA OL, I would consider:

Evans
McNeil
Hamilton
Gaither
Kaczur
JC needs to sit. He has no faith in the line. The offensive line did what they could and most times they did a ok job. but Campbell doesn't give the team a chance. Opposing Defenses pin their ears back and tee off on our line because they know Campbell will eventually make a mistake.
Did you actually watch the game or are you so pissed off with Campbell that you write this crap. There is not a single quarterback in the league that can function with this offensive line. There were three plays that illustrated how bad this line is.
1. In the first halve there was an unblocked blitz up the middle where the defender got on Campbell as soon as he took the shotgun snap. How can a defender beat a snapped ball. Unf%cking believable.
2. The shotgun snap by Rabach that never got to the quarterback. That will make every blooper reel in America.
3. The unblocked blitz that came right up center, Campbell was able to dodge the guy because he was going so fast. Horrible.
I don't have a vote of confidence of Jason Campbell, he is shell shocked just like Patrick Ramsey was with Spurrier. But until this offensive line is address, I wouldn't want to put any quarterback that I want to keep back there. Campbell is not going remain healthy at this pace. He will join the ranks of the injured reserve.

You are dreaming. What play makers?

Re: The line is quite offensive right now

I've been a Campbell backer for a long time, figuring that he just needs to find his rhythm and he'll be golden. He found it for 6 games last fall, and has yet to find it again. He's nursing injuries (His plant (right) foot is heavily taped) and getting beat worse than red-headed stepchild because he's getting no protection from his OL. The best thing for Campbell would be to walk out of town after the season's done and never look back.

That being said, give Montgomery or Edwin Williams a shot at Center, benching Rabach. They have 2 weeks to gel with the first team Offense, make it happen. Rinehart should be healthy enough by then and can be plugged in at RG. Get Levi up to speed and throw him in at LT. Let Heyer and Mike Williams battle for RT. A line of Jones/Dockery/EdwinWilliams/Rinehart/Heyer can't be any worse than what's been thrown out there thus far.

Rebuilding the offensive line has to be the #1 priority in the offseason. If it's not, then no matter who you put behind Center, they are doomed to fail.
Jeff Garcia is the answer. He brings the attitude and he's been in a west coast offense all his career. He may not have a huge arm but he would give us a chance and he is also great in the pocket.
Skins don't throw down field anyway.

Re: The line is quite offensive right now
Trample - I agree and I remember many of your posts about getting Mack and I wish the Skins had listened. I truely think that the Skins draft 2 new lineman and 1 free agent - with the first pick being Russell Okung to solidify the left tackle spot for the next 5-7 years - if we are lucky enough that he is available when we pick. The other pick being either a guard or center - I just don't see us picking both bookend tackles in the same draft. I think we see both Randy Thomas and Chris Samuels gone from the Redskins next year - I like both of these guys but we need to recommit to building the line with youth and using high picks to get them. If the CBA falls through and we go uncapped I can see the Skins going extreme and using the 1st and 2nd round picks on lineman and plugging the other 2 offensive lineman positions with free agents -the only holdover would be Dockery as the other 4 are nothing to build the long term future with. even with this next year would be a learning year as the new line gets in sync and used to eachother.

Also I think the stopgap measure is we bring in a veteran qb to be picked by the next coach/gm and let him take the reigns for a year or two or use Colt - as many have correctly pointed out it does not matter who you put back there without a decent line they will be killed.
Perhaps, but you're assuming that we'll have someone who knows what he's doing making our picks. If it's Cerrato and his dope spoon making the picks, then the results will be the same, no disrespect to the spoon.

A blind man would've known our line sucked. Seriously, a blind man could've listened to the radio and said to himself, "Man that Campbell kid sure does spend a lot of time on his back".

It's frustrating as hell. Going into this season was like watching a plane take off with an 1/8 of JP 5 in its wings. You know the birds going down, and soon.
We might not have to give him a new deal for another season. With an uncapped year he won't become a UFA until year 5, same with Rogers.
This is year 5 for both of them, they were drafted in 05. I recall someone saying that both would be restricted fa's after this year.

It's too late i believe, but i bet JG could come in and get us more points than we're getting right now. He has mobility and he's pretty accurate. As crazy of an idea that is, he probably would spark a little more offense.
