I will say that ignorance is not an excuse. LT is being charged with having sex with a juvenile under the age of 17 which is a class 3 Felony. Unless he can prove she had an ID saying she was older it will be hard for him to win his case.
What is LT doing getting a hooker in New York? Go to Vegas where the girls are tested for diseases and most likely much hotter then some random 16 year old girl brought to you by a pimp. Man this sucks though. I like LT.

It is an odd double standard though, assuming this was consensual. When I was 16 I would have loved to hook up with a cougar. It's like that South Park episode where the young kid hooks up with a Teacher and the cops hand him a "luckiest boy in America" medal.

However when a guy is the older participant people seem much more likely to get up in arms. Ironically I'm one of those people, for some reason I feel really weird about it when it's a girl thats underage but if it's a guy I feel like finding him and telling him how great he is.
You are right about it being a double standard, but if the male is the younger participant it isn't viewed as being so bad if bad at all. The reason is that a young male is looking to get laid, while a young girl if anything is looking for love. Males give love to get sex, females sex to get love around age 16. I know that has changed somewhat with the young women, but it still is the same. Plus, when do you ever here of a younger male getting raped by a woman?

Of course no one hears about it because the media or male victim doesn't want to report it. All a female needs to do to pull off a successful is get a male in a state where he cannot fight back in a reasonable manner and the tables are in the female's favor to do what she wants.

Yeah how though? Drug him or get him drunk? THat usually means the guy can't perform. I am sure there are cases where women rape men, but it is probably like a Basic Instinct type deal where the woman is a psycho and wants to do more than rape the guy.
Look if he's guilty throw the book and lock him up.All I am saying is if this story is true ...it strikes me as odd that the girl only gets in touch with the uncle ..till after having sex with LT....on the way home, not in any of the weeks before ,not after getting beaten by her "Pimp",and if you were a girls pimp and had to force her to do this (crap)....would you let her have a cell phone?
probably wouldn't let her have the phone, but who's to say it's a smart guy? I mean he's beating up a 16 year old girl and forcing her on guys...

she prob didn't get in touch with the uncle beforehand because of being a runaway, didn't want to get caught.. who knows

no need to defend the guy so staunchly at this point
Since you seem confused or disturbed by my comment I shall enlighten.

Had the little tramp not ran away to be with said boyfriend (pimp) or thought the grass would be greener away from her family she kinda got what she deserved. I don't condone abuse at all, but had she stayed at home where she should have been, instead of running away from home, she most likely would not have been in this situation and protected....by her family.

Instead she must have thought screw this I'm out I don't have to listen to this, ran away, hooked up with a pimp (either she met him or was introduced to him through a friend), and put herself in this situation. Maybe if kids would take a moment to realize they are not as smart as they think and there are people who are out there willing to take advantage of them any way they can, she might not have been pimped out or abused.

I see it all the time. Kids running away cause they don't like what mommy and daddy are punishing them for. Mostly its bad grades and they aren't going to be told they can't speak or see their boyfriends/girlfriends. Unfortunatly there are a small % that hook up with the wrong people as in this case or hooking up with people through the internet.
I get what you're saying, but unless you know her family then who knows how she was better off.

It's sad to see Lawrence (despite his HOF credentials) is going to ultimately be remembered more for his failures than for his accomplishments. You're right, right now the only thing he's guilty of is bad judgement, once all the facts are known that may be all he's found to be guilty of.

Re: What do Big Ben and Lawrence Taylor have in common?

That, and being a scumbag. Regardless of whether Taylor thought the girl was 16 or 18 or 19, these disturbing facts remain - Taylor, a 51 year old married man paid to have sex with a prostitute whom he thought was 18ish and showed signs of being physically abused. Married +Cheating + Prostitute + Young girl + Black eye = Scumbag.

He should be thankful that a couple of years in prison, a ruined marriage, and a further damaged reputation is his "worst-case scenario." In my opinion, the man doesn't deserve the air he's breathing.

Re: What do Big Ben and Lawrence Taylor have in common?

man, this is a crazy thread!

I thought I'd just share my personal LT experience; he's from my hometown - Williamsburg, VA. I had a basketball coach in 5th grade that was one of LT's 3 best friends. My football & track coach coached LT & often talked about him. LT gave our program a lot of $, relatively speaking.

During my senior year, 86-7 the year the g-men beat the broncos & LT was mvp of the league I believe, he came to our school to speak. All of us on the football team got to attend, along w/a select group of a couple hundred that were invited, media included.

It was his first time ever talking about his drug addiction. He talked about overcoming his cocaine habit, which he essentially said sprang from having hundreds of dollars in his pocket & being bored, wanting to get the kind of high in the offseason he did from football. He seemed honestly changed to some degree, but was still short of humility. It almost seemed as if he was giving this speech in his hometown to fulfill a career PR obligation. I can't remember his words, but someone asked him about JOey T's leg, which he'd broken a year before. He answered in some crass manner. He seemed more upset about theiseman's leg when it actually happened though, I do remember that.

Anyway, Williamsburg over the years is much less proud of him than we are of Ron Springs and Bruce Hornsby. Not just his behavior, but his often arrogant attitude thereafter has been a turn off to a lot of people. Over the last 10 years or so it seemed he started to grow up. Nonetheless, this shouldn't surprise many people that are sports fans & familiar w/him.
