Samsung is a good brand but I would go for a 120 hz set.

60hz is sufficient for TV and movies. It might be a little less than you need for the newest and most graphic-intensive games, but you'll be happy with it. The one you picked has a ton of inputs and Samsung speakers usually sound great. If you're trying to fit an storage unit nicely and this one lets you get the biggest TV it can fit, go for it. Most people don't notice the differences in refresh rates. As long as you don't invite Matty over, no one will say anything about it other than "nice TV". :cheeky-sm

Samsung is my favorite brand. I have a 42" Sammy and it was the best-looking picture in the store. A few years old and still looks awesome.

Funny I was at WalMart and just happen to stop by the TV's to see what they had when a lady in that dept. asked if I needed any help. To my surprise she seem to know her stuff about the TV's and said this TV had high ratings. She said if I watched sports I might want a higher HZ but said nothing about playing games. I don't play video games so would 60HZ be fine for sports or should I look for 120Hz? I do have space issues and I have only found a few 40" TV's that will fit in a space un 38".

For fast moving things like sports, a higher Hz rating is recommended.

If you are from 480 to 720/1080 you will never notice the mhz thing

The problem I have is in the 40" TV's when I go from 60HZ to 120HZ the size jumps about an inch making it too big. If its that important to have the 120 over the 60 I could go with the 37" TV. See right now we have a space issue but we are looking to move which could be in 3 months or 3 yrs. If I knew then size would not be the issue but if we are in our current home for over a year or so I really want the bigger TV.

That's why I was saying, take the 40" with 60hz over a smaller TV with higher hz. It will fit your furniture better, give you a bigger screen and maybe save you some money too.

As mredskins said, you probably won't see a difference. It's your first one, it will look amazing compared to your previous TV. :food-smil

Samsung- best value for what you're getting in the LCD market. And go for the 120hz if you can spring it... you'll be having the set for a while and it definitely makes a difference in sports.

I agree and the only time the MHZ comes into play for sports is when the ball is in the air otherwise everything looks fine.

I do like to watch golf so that could be an issue. I doubled checked my measurements yesterday and I have 38 1/2 inches to work with. That gives me no wiggle room at all but will fit.

Ok so the Samsung with 120hz will fit where I need it to go so I'm going to go with this TV. I'm waiting to see the sail around black Friday before buying.
