But if you were going to make the switch, you might as well do it when you know you're in transition/rebuild mode, and when you don't expect to be in contention for the playoffs anyway. That's why, when it's all said and done, it really isn't a big deal.

3 or 4 years from now, no one will care about the switch to the 3-4 back in 2010.
I have no steadfast loyalties to the 4-3 defense, my issue comes from that the change created more needs.

Anyway, I saw this quote from an interview with Ron Rivera, who is getting ready to make the same switch in Carolina, and here is what he has to say:

"I was able to talk with Rivera after his press conference about the 3-4 scheme he ran so well in San Diego, (the Chargers ranked No. 1 in the NFL in defense last season). He said that getting solid nose tackle play is the key to any 3-4 scheme."

I am really hoping that NT is a priority for the Redskins this offseason. If we can't get a decent NT, we are going to struggle again defensively.

Us finishing almost dead last defensively didn't bother me, what bothers me is Jimbo not being that good of a DC. He doesn't know what he is doing!

We should have offered the job to Joe Bugel instead last year. Oh wait that's how Philly fills coaching vacancies. I told y'all they were pi**ed Jauron went to Cleveland

I'm confident we'll get more appropriate 3-4 personnel and make a lot of progress. We have some late-season developments like Bryant and Barnes that are a good sign for the future. We'll likely get a good D-lineman in one of the first two rounds of the draft, hopefully a dominant NT.

Ty CObb once said that only great men get booed, does that make Jim Hasslett a good DC, because i booed his arse all year long??

I am not sold on him either, and I felt this way about him before he became our DC.

JH has been around this league a long time as a player, coordinator, and head coach, saying he doesn't know what he's doing is a bit of a stretch

Haslett wasn't my first choice either but he was told to run a 3-4 and didn't have the right players for it. It's hard to evaluate him until we get more players in place. We need continuity...changing DC one year in would not be a good start.
