Willie goes nowhere without his stash....Well documented.
Oh and FirstDown, Junior sings about getting wasted in at least a few of his songs.
Musicians using alcohol and drugs? who'd have thought?

On a side note, a friend gave me CDB tickets a couple of years ago at the Naples Philharmonic Center of all places. CD is an incredible talent.....AT 70...no less

12th, Chico, care to state why you believe he's racist?
A better defense of Jr.'s alleged racism, especially from a Redskins board, would be his frequent sporting of Cornelius Griffin's jersey at the '08 McCain rallies in Virginia.

Seriously though, Williams has been very open about his political affiliation, and it's an affliation I don't share. However, his MNF intros are an institution, and I've appreciated ESPN maintaining it. Sad way for him to (presumably) exit.
You dug deep to find those because most of his music is about drinking. I would also think that Stoned AT The Jukebox would be a Jukebox in a bar and stoned would be from drinking. I really don't care if he smokes weed or not its just that you never hear that about him nor do I recall him ever talking about smoking pot.

BTY: I played in a country band from 1983 until mid 90's in bars from Va through NC. and we played a bunch of Hank Jr's music because that's when he was at the top of country music.
I think 95% of his songs are about getting drunk and raising hell or crying over a chick. I've seen Hank Jr. twice and he put on a pretty kicking show but no one there was stoned. LOL

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the man and I like a tune or two he does. Immensely successful country artist and sort of in the last handful of "Outlaw" country guys...I am more of a David Allan Coe, JJW fan myself.
But he has made a living off portraying himself as a blacksheep....the same but different from dad.....etc.
From memory...."Family tradition"
"Hank why do you drink, why do you roll smoke" etc, etc

"Country Boy can survive"
We can make our own whiskey and our own smoke to......
To my knowledge Jr has made no bones about Hard drinkin' and rolling the occasional fatty as well.
FWIW, this does not draw my condemnation....I'll leave that to others. PLUS it sort of goes with the territory of your Outlaw C&W guy. AND the music field in general

Hard to tell from all the mind boggling things you say.

If you truly believe that "Stoned" means drunk, then I have no idea what to tell you. I still believe you have 0 clue on Hank Williams, Jr. based on some of the things you've said here. I didn't have to reach one bit to find lyrics about getting high, and the fact you even asked for any shows me everything. I don't give a crap if you did sing his songs back then, you obviously still were in the dark about the lyrics and the man himself. Again, this isn't about what he's done in his life, this is about the fact ESPN is pulling the song based off comments made about the President, when his whole career has represented much worse.

I'll have to say after I gave it some thought and some of the post I read here I'll have to say I did not pick up on all his songs about getting stoned. So I stand corrected. BTY I played drums and I did not sing any of his songs. I guess sense I don't smoke pot I just heard the parts about getting drunk. LOL

SmootSmack 10-06-2011 10:28 AM

As expected, he's not coming back to MNF...and what does BTY mean?
