yeah, im glad we went with our own board and didnt follow what the kiper/mcshay's of the world were saying.

seems both were worthy picks for their spots so no one really loses.

It was close between Trent and Okung for three seasons. At this point, Trent is the better player and I'd take him going forward.

I think we have to look hard at Flowers. Given our secondary we need to be always looking to improve it if a smart option comes up. Not sure either way but not too often do pro-bowl players get cut in the middle of June like this

Bruce can make it work. Heard he wasnt a fit with what they are trying to do defensively...everytime I've seen Flowers play he's seems to play well and make plays.

Im sure he will get alot of consideration with team who have the cap room.

Flowers is good enough to make the Redskins, but he's not really the impact contributor he once was. He's probably going to get a multiple year offer from a team like Houston or Dallas that needs the help more immediately, and the only way he makes sense here is as a one year insurance policy against the stalled development of David Amerson or the sudden decline of Tracy Porter or DeAngelo Hall. Having a guy who can start for you in a pinch is always nice, but the constraints of a 53 man roster make carrying a guy like Flowers as a healthy inactive a luxury that most teams cannot afford.

Given that signing him would require another roster move to free up cap space, I'd recommend that they pass.

Heard down the stretch he struggled but you coulda said that for most the team. Flowers could start here and play well imo. I dont think he will get a huge deal.

The issue is that they're already in two years on Porter, and the roster move that would make the most sense to grab Flowers is to release Porter, in which case, you are paying Porter to not play for you.

You could make an argument for either player being better at this point. Both were top corners last year on defenses that struggled against the pass. Flowers has been almost strictly a man to man guy since he's been in the league, and the Redskins are going to have to play more man this year. But Haslett has traditionally played zone when he isn't bringing pressure, and that leans more towards what Porter has done in his career.

I ultimately don't think one projects to be way better than the other, and if the Redskins were happy with Tracy Porter in March, I'm not sure why they would be dissatisfied with him in June.

I think signing Flowers this year would be a challenge. It could be done though. They have about $2M in space currently and could free some by booting Stephen Bowen or Leonard Hankerson or Kedric Golston or Santana Moss, or a few other options. But I don't think they'd be keen on doing that just yet, not sure how much depth they feel like they can give up.

I admittedly have no clue what kind of deal Flowers would garner. I imagine it won't be small, he's coming off a pro-bowl appearance.

Help me understand the bolded statement. He made his first career pro bowl last year. I fully recognize that the pro bowl is just a beauty pageant but I thought he had a good year last year. Why was last year not up to par with previous?
