With regards to Michael Westbrook I think this would sum it up best....

buying a pair of flashy boxers $40
a pair of boxing gloves $50
a pair of sharp hi-tops $100
winning an ultimate fighting championship PRICELESS

:laughing2
LOL!!!! That's why I've become hesitant about us drafting a receiver or QB high in the draft! It seems defensive guys drafted high has helped us better than the high picks on offensive. That's why I was more excited by our late round picks than what we picked in the early stages....although I am gladed we got someone at CB!
What if god forbid something terrible happened to Ramsey next year. Then we would have been stuck with Brunell and forced to draft a quarterback out of need and probably tried to trade up and seriously overpaid to get someone.

This was an investment pick. It is an insurance pick. Gibbs likes this guy because he fits our system and will begin his career learning and develping slowly.

Granted we could have drafted Adrian McPhereson in a later round, but he doesn't have the cleanest track record and is definately and uncut diamond. But even the best jewlers can ruin a diamond.
yeah... but still the fact is the Skins used 3 (repeat 3) draft picks for this guy. Why this team continues to vastly overpay for players is beyond me. Obviously Gibbs likes this guy... but he also loves Brunell who everybody, except for Gibbs apparently, knew was washed up. Of course, time will tell how this pick will pan out.

We haven't overpaid for Campbell. As far as "payment" is concerned we haven't given up anything monetarily. Taking Campbell at #25, he won't get paid as much as someone we WOULD have selected in a year or two if Ramsey doesn't pan out. Granted, we did figuratively pay a high price in picks, but are we REALLY lacking in other positions. Say next year, Ramsey blows and we need a new WR, we have Campbell and we can shop at WR in FA or the draft.

Why is everybody so freakin' worried about next year's draft. Who is to say that we can't pick up some draft picks shopping some players around next year who we decide to let go? I really dont' care if all our picks come in the 6th or 7th round.

3 Draft picks for a QB who would be a 2nd rounder at best?? I call that overpaying... I didn't mean just in dollar terms. And your're assuming this guy is going to be good.... with the 2 great running backs he had behind him, I'd say his QBing skills are pretty unknown at this point. Sure, I hope he is the next Joe Montana... but still, I don't recall the 49ers giving up 3 picks for him.
