Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
How could you not like our OBJ or Dez when we will have a major need there after next year, this is the kind of pick good teams make, BPA thinking about the future.
He will have to prove that he is that kind of player. I personally would have gotten one of the d-linemen. But that's why SM is paid the big bucks and why I'm on my couch. Lol. But really it's hard to argue with Doctson's production. Outstanding college player. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Maybe if we have receivers that can win 50/50 balls we'll stop throwing it 2 yards short of a 1st on 3rd down.
Doctson did not seem to be all that excited to be drafted. All the DTs are slipping due to the depth this draft. People are scooping up the other guys. Would have liked a 2nd tradeback, but like the pick overall. With the contracts we're up against I dont think we'll be able to retain DJax or Garcon. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
With Doctson and Crowder, I don't see Jackson or Garcon getting re-signed next year, and we will be picking another receiver in the top few rounds next year. Receiving core will look new and younger in 2017. Doctson, Crowder, 2017 draft choice will be our top 3 plus Jordan Reed. That'll work if Doctson is as good as advertised. I see both our picks (if we keep them) tomorrow being in the front 7 on defense. After that, I'd guess a RB/S will be areas of focus over the weekend.

Guess we'll see how this plays out, the kids a big target for Cousins hope it pans out well and I'm excited for round 2 and to see what we will do next. Kind surprised we didnt go D tho.
And this is all talk for NEXT year.
THIS year we have Doctson/Garcon/Jackson/Crowder/Reed/Paul The offense really is poised to succeed this year.
it is much to early to say who will be on the team this year. And Garcon's 10.8 ypc is very mediocre. Jackson is soft and small. The key might be V Davis... 2 fast TEs, plus a running game = an explosive offense |

Honestly, I really don't care too much about the running game. Potentially we have one of the best passing offenses in the league. That's what we do best and I hope Gruden and Co realize that and start calling plays like New England does. I'm calling it now, KC should be near 5,000 yards this year if everyone can stay healthy. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Doctson was clearly BPA on the board and Scotty Mac always says you take BPA whether you need them or not. I believe that is what he did.
We have needed a taller receiver for years now, looks like we finally got one. Also some of you are forgetting we also have a speed burner in Ross, he should be better after another year on the team. In case we lose both DJax ad Pierre |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Draft analyst quote about Doctson: "Unselfish, dependable and hungry worker - can't find anyone who will say a negative word about him." Scot strikes again!

Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Looking at his tape, I see a lot of DeAndre Hopkins in him, if he can give us that, beautiful

We're not done yet either, we will be picking a RB at some point as well I'm sure. I like the pick. There will be good defensive players at our next pick. A lot of weapons. An extra one for the red zone. Defenses won't know what to do with him and Reed. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
I think it would be the opposite. Gruden and GMSM prefer tough players who will fight and scrap. Pierre is one of those players.
DJax bailed on the TD vs. Green Bay and went out on the 1. Doctson/Garcon/Crowder/Reed is the skill AND attitude they're looking for.
I get your thinking, but disagree. DJax was out last year, we got zero from Ryan Grant...he's was terrible. He got back and the Offense took off...why? He's the best shooter on the team and he spreads the floor unlike any other WR in the game. He takes the top of defenses...Ill take that all day long over Garcon. |

Wanted to bump this link from 30gut...I thought this was pretty good stuff before. Doctson kinda shines in these scouting reports |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
If it comes down to DJax and Garcon after next season it will be DJax, Pierre is a tough possession receiver and so is Doctson, every really good offense needs a receiver like Djax to take the top off the defense. Think Gary Clark to Art Monk.
That being said I would put it at under 50/50 that either of them is on the team after this season, and Pierre might not make it this year, especially if they need cap space for some reason or another (like another Norman becomes available). |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Garçon fits the McCloughan mold much more than Jackson. Once Jackson starts to lose a step, which could happen very soon, there goes his game.
