Knee problems don't hang around for 2 years if they're fixable. I think something is chronically wrong with his leg.

Wherever Lavar ends up, I'm sure he'll score at least one defensive TD against the Skins and join the long list of ex-Skins who have hurt us at least once.

Yup. I agree wholeheartedly. I think the person most dissillusioned with LaVar was Williams. I have said it before and I will say it again: When GW came here, he was counting on LA to be the defensive force w/in his scheme. For reasons known only to him (though guessed at by the majority of us) GW was quickly dissuaded of that notion. LaVar had a few big games for GW, including the TBay game, but, nevertheless, he just didn't seem to "get it". LaVar WAS the face of the team when it was disorganized and losing. He stuck by it and truly wanted to win - but when push came to shove, he chaffed under the discipline and self-sacrifice demanded of winners in this league (see - M. Lewis, G. Williams). And, unfortunately (and unlike Ramsey), he needed to make his discomfort known. He reveled in the fan adoration during his success, but he seemed to need the fans, rather than the coaches, to love him during his most recent problems.

LaVar, at his peak, was an exceptional talent who clearly was able to cover for any lack of discipline by his sheer speed, strenght, and instincts. Now, however, his speed is called into question, and the defense he played in relies more on team scheme/cohesion rather than individual instinct.

LaVar may be successful somewhere else (SD has been mentioned, but I doubt it as Marty appears to be on the outs w/ ownership there), but he will always ALWAYS break some D Coordinator's heart by just not doing the small things he is supposed to do. He never has, and likely never will.

I am not here to rehash the debate on LaVar v. Gibbs/Williams/the Great Conspiracy. These are just my opinions (which I believe to be well supported).

He is in many ways a class guy. He is, in my opinion and in many ways, also a bit of head case. I wish him well and hope he has success in all his endeavors (except when playing the Skins).

Now, Thank God, we can finally move past the "Great LaVar Debate"

he only saves 4mill. if he stayed we'd have to ditch him eventually cause with a dead cba we couldn't afford his bonus. we don't have to pay the bonus, but he still counts as 8.8mill in deadcap (instead of 12.8). I assume he bought out his own contract cause they couldn't restructure his base and deal with his huge bonus while possibly keeping him with the team (not that they wanted to).

Its possible we ditched him to resign him, but i doubt it. GW never liked him just like gibbs was never into PR, now they're both gone.

If a player gives bonus money back, i believe they can't be traded, only released.

now there are zero distractions in the lockerroom and only one off field (taylor) guy.

Why would Lavar agree to give back 4 million dollars to a team that said if a deal was done or not he would have been cut? I do not get it are the Postons and Lavar just crazy in love with the skins and want to help the cause of what could be an opposing team down the road. Any player who was being cut no matter what, why give back money? I'm lost how does that benefit the player and his agent?

I think he has a "deal" in place somewhere already and he wanted to get out of his Redskins contract right away so he can sign as soon as possible with the new team.

if he didn't give money back, then the skins release him july 14th and no one has money to sign him with anymore.

SO RIGHT IS SO MANY WAYS. He was really never our L.T. was he? A number 2 pick[1st round] in a draft is goen with so so numbers to show for that. Do you think he will ever be the same player he was be for being hurt or is he just a average NFL player now?

I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed, but at the same time I guess we have to move on. Lavar was a class act and I wish him the best, so long as this doesn't come back to bite use in the ass.

You know, at a certain point I wonder who the hell I'm rooting for anymore. I've been a Skins fan since I was born and can't imagine it any other way. But after seeing players come and go on an almost yearly basis, I start to question what exactly I'm cheering for. It seems like the actual players don't even matter anymore, I'm basically rooting for a burgandy and gold uniform. Even if that person in the uniform was wearing orange and blue or silver and black last year and will be wearing green and white next year.

Whatever...guess I'm just kind of bummed. No such thing anymore as a TRUE Redskin, just somebody who's donning the uniform for a year or two before moving on.

he should be fully recovered next season. at least as much as possible. I think he should have 100+ tackle seasons and more than 2 sacks again next year.

lavar wasn't picked by this staff. I think as long as the staff stays, their players will stay.

I mean, wynn's production hasn't been earth shattering and he's overpaid, but they like him in the lockerroom, so he's sticking around. washington, etc etc.

but once contracts expire its anyone's guess.

The question can you get a player of your roster,free agent or draft a linebacker to do these same things at a lower price then LA was getting? The second question should a line backer command that much of your Cap?

To be let go before Free Agency Started that way he can sign a big contract with another team with a 10 -12 signing bonus before teams star shoping it was a good move fanancial wise for both sides.

I just didn't know you could do that, and also that the league would accept it as cap relief.... this way your team gets 4 mill back to get in 2 the cap and LA gets a chance early to sign with a new team if not the team would had realease him before July 4th killing his chances

I, for one, am glad he's gone. We gave him far too much money one day, according to ESPN and the AP he was the only Redskin who refused to rework his contract (what a true Redskin) and he was a distraction. He has great raw ability, but if a player can't play within a system, he is useless.

I liked Lavar and he will be missed by the fans, unfortunaltely the defense won't miss him. Where he will he hurt us the most, should we play the team that picks him up will be on offense. We better get Jason Campbell ready in a hurry.

11 restructured? That's the first I've seen that number. If that is the case, that is great news for two reasons.

First, it says a heck of a lot about the team. It says they are a team and they care about the ring more than the bling (maybe I'm being niave, but I don't think so).

Second, it means we will be able to play in free agency.

Gibbs said it may have been 12 restructured and yes it dose say a lot to me to! He also said there maybe more as the week gose by!

It would be nice if you could beleive something LaVar says but unfortunately you can't. Just a little while ago he maintained he'd be willing to restructure or do anything that would allow him to be a Redskin for life (yeah right) He's the only player on the team not willing to restructure to help his team in cap trouble. I knew when GW signed a three year extention to remain the DC there was no way this guy was still going to be here. No way is Williams going to put up with another year of LaVar's S****T.

Wow I knew about 4 does somebody has the names of the players that restructure their contracts and how much cap space has that saved???

12 players speeks great about the TEAM atmosphere and financial sacrifice your players are doing for the greater goal. I guess tehy finally see the fanchsie turning and a posibility to make a run in the playoffs and are willing to sacrifice some $$$ to win... because thye don't know if they don't how much time would it take to compete again

Just add lavar arrington to the list of guys who have been the heads of the skins locker rooms smoot, bailey, steven davis, brian mitchell...etc. This shows how much its just busness they don't care about keeping players who've been on the team for so many years and done so much for the team. This is y we haven't gotten anywhere. No leadership. You don't get leadership by being the highest paid player you earn it over the years. You earn it ending troy "ache in my back i never want to play against lavar arrington because he will literally rip my head off if there is a next time" aikman's career. F the cowboys. if you forgot about that watch it 800 times like i have. He has the fear. I don't think i'm the only one who doesn't just want him on my team because he's a great player i want him on our team because i don't want to play against him. Now that he's been released he could go to any team including the giants (like antonio pierce) or the cowboys(F them) so for any of you who say i'm glad he's gone just wait till we have to play him and you take the blame for any deaths on the field

I real believe that Gibbs is the glue that brings the team together. We were dead as a team before he came back. Will we win a super Bowl before his leaves...I hope so.
