What's interesting about all this is that with that addition and the Saints possibly adding Brees, who the hell is gonna draft who now? I have no idea how the draft is going to shake out. I think the Cards had better think O Line, otherwise signing James will have been worthless.

There have been reports that the Saints only offered a short term deal to Brees and planned on using him to groom their future QB. .. like Kurt Warner did with Eli.

No. He's not gone. He was transition tagged, that means that the Seahawks can match the offer. They just have to decide if they want to spend that much in the first year of the deal.

Except that if you franchise a guard they use the top tackle contracts to determine the salary. Obviously, the Seahawks didn't want to pay 2 of the top 5 salaries in the league on their O-line.

the difference was under 700k between the transition and franchise tags for an OG according to an nfl.com article about the subject.

Wow. That's a pretty high number for a guard. I mean, I like Hutch and wish we could have drafted him instead of Rod Gardner (Seattle picked right before us in '01). ESPN said that is the record for an offensive guard. I guess if you REALLY need him, that's one thing. But come on, $16 million bonus for a [I]guard[/I]?

Alright, the cards have crazy cap space next year (and with the new stadium, they might mimmick the browns in a buying spree). Bryant gets 3.75mill a year, which is a lot lesss $/yard than randle-el got, hopefully his attitude problems re-emerge so i have no regrets ;) The giants, in response to our WR corp, are sucking up CBs like no tomorrow. McQuarters would have been a decent signing for such a pittance. Adoyele is only getting 3.4mill a year and would have been a great add at that price, i'm sorry we didn't give him a look.


as for the skins, EVERYONE gets a 6/7 year 30mill contract like springs or moss got ;) we WAY overpaid for archuleta (5mill a year for a safety??) and might have overpaid for R'El (totally depends on production). lloyd and carter are good values at that price though, and should prove it soon.

those are whats left. OL is a definate need, if mitchell signs as our backup, than the #2 pick is basically reserved for an LB, with late picks on CB/OL and possibly a punter or value QB. Right now it looks like Hall will be back, though that could always change.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the New York Jets have agreed to terms with free agent DE Kimo von Oelhoffen (Steelers) on a 3-year, $9.2 million deal including a $3.2 million signing bonus.

Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports free agent CB Walt Harris (Redskins) is expected to visit with the San Francisco 49ers soon.

The Detroit Lions have signed free agent TE Dan Campbell (Cowboys) to a five-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.


alright, lions steal campbell from the roids, who also let KJ go. TO might be in dallas now that he's free. Givens DOES get big money, but i'm not sure he'll live up to it.

And now we know WHY the 49ers were so eager to get bryant. they trade lloyd, lose out of El and JJ and started to panic. they did get bryant for a fair price though. Looks like JJ wouldn't have come here. it was browns (his hometown), seattle or bust apparently.

walt harris visits the 9ers... in other news, who cares?

the 49er's obviously. I wish them good luck with Harris, i always thought he could be a good #3 corner.
