Re: I Was Wrong When...

I was wrong when I thought our offense would be able to keep us in games this year.

I was wrong when I thought we may actually see a Redskins team that could score 20 or more points on a somewhat regular basis.

I was wrong when I thought the Bengals would challenge for the AFC North.

I was wrong when I thought I'd really like Mike Shanahan as the head coach. I'm just not so sure. Jury is obviously still out.

Re: I Was Wrong When...

I was wrong when I said they'd finish around 8-8 this year. I figured there would be marked improvement in the team's performance this season due mainly to the presence of Mike Shanahan, and in the offensive game planning/play calling of Kyle Shanahan.

Boy was I wrong.

Re: I Was Wrong When...

There wasn't a clear cut winner in the AFC West, IMO...so I said that Denver would win it. Yeah.

I was also wrong earlier this summer when I suggested that the Shanahan's would never give Anthony Armstrong a chance to win a roster spot. What a year he's had.

I was a Landry skeptic, but I'm glad the move back to the box worked for him. We're missing him badly right now.

I would say you were right about AH, the couple of games has tried and was not benched most of the game, he has dominated. Maybe we're confusing best with most effective?

I was wrong about having a stud running game this year.
I was wrong to buy into the mere hope that Jamaal Brown would give us what we were hoping for.

Re: I Was Wrong When...

I was wrong when I said Landry would never stop running around like a chicken with his head cut off.

I was wrong when I said Haynesworth would be here next year because our D-line needs talent too badly

I was wrong about thinking that Brown would be at least an average tackle, making the trade worth it...he is junk

I was wrong of my 7-9 prediction (not by much)

I like this thread...mainly cause I couldnt think of that many predictions I had that were wrong...the mcnabb trade being stupid and shannahan being terrible with personnel are my two big ones.

SmootSmack 12-14-2010 03:58 PM

Re: I Was Wrong When...

I wouldn't declare people wrong on Brown yet, maybe just a bit premature

I was wrong about Jevan Snead, I thought he might get drafted in the 4th or 5th round and be a legit QB of the future for some NFL team. There I said it!

I'm still right about Chase Daniel though, it's just the rest of the NFL that's wrong

Re: I Was Wrong When...

I was wrong when I thought Brandon Banks wouldn't be able to survive in the NFL because of fumbling issues.

I was wrong when I thought Artis Hicks/Rabach/Dockery would give us an upgraded interior line this year.

I was wrong when I thought that Jimmy Clausen wouldn't be a bad NFL qb.

I was wrong when I thought that Tyson Alualu was a huge waste of the 10th overall pick for the Jags.

I was wrong when I thought that even though we didn't have all the pieces for the 3-4, we still wouldn't be record settingly bad simply because we had talent on defense.

I was wrong when I thought we would see a much better offense than the one we had last year.

I was wrong when I thought Haynesworth would eventually just settle in and this whole feud would be overblown.

I'm sure I was wrong on countless other things but I can't think of much right now.

Run Brown through rigorous physical tests, make sure he's totally healthy, and if so re-sign him

Jimmy Clausen is a rookie playing on a bad team. He's no Sam Bradford but give him some time...he will be a baller down the line.

I was wrong on criticizing the Fletcher signing too. I thought that it was a mistake to let Antonio Pierce go, but an old London Fletcher is much better than Pierce ever was, AND Pierce is out of the NFL while Fletcher is still playing at a very high level.

Re: I Was Wrong When...
I said it was a mistake to sign London Fletcher
I said Brandon Lloyd would have about 600 yards receiving last year and be our big play WR
I said Kenny Wright was a smart pickup by the Redskins to play Nickel ("Like having another starter!")
I said Amobi Okoye was overratedI said the Bucs would start this season 0-6

And so on. Point is, I've been "right" (Marcus Washington, Randle El, Andre Carter) and I've been wrong countless times on this site. Just about all of us have. There isn't a single person on this site who has posted with relative regularity and can claim to have never been wrong.

So why the point of this thread? To point out that there's no shame in admitting you're wrong and to dispel any ridiculous notion that I or anyone else here just scours threads looking to point out when anyone else is wrong. Fact is, I (and every other mod) read 99% of all posts on this site. We have been for years, we have to. It's our responsibility. We notice patterns but none of us go looking to find things that are wrong.

But since there are some (one) people here who think (incorrectly) that my only purpose here is to point out when everyone else is wrong, I thought I'd start a thread pointing out a few times when I've been wrong.

Guess what? I will be wrong again...and so will you.
not going to read all the pages, but I think your still wrong about this, lol

Re: I Was Wrong When...

I was wrong when....

I said this team was an 8-8 or better team talent wise. I still stand by that but... Picking up a new GM and Coaching staff who don't know the player that well or their skills, starting a new defensive scheme, and not having the players suited to play that defensive scheme was apparently too much for the team to handle all in one year.

I said McNabb sucked. Oh wait I should have put this in the "I was right when..." thread. lol. Ok, he's clearly still got an arm, and is better then Campbell, but the reasons I didn't want him here is exactly why the fans and media are questioning if he will be here next yr. He throws dirt balls too much (which I presume is so opponants won't have a chance at intercepting them), he throws too high at times, he's picking up JC's trait of throwing too hard when his receiver is relatively close to him causing dropped balls, and lastly he can no longer scramble (the big one).

I said I don't know why Haslett was signed cause his statistics are horrible. lol, well this one might very well should be put in the I was right thread also and some of you will dissagree with me, but.... the team simply looked like they were having fun this year on defense. I know I'll get blasted with the whole stats and yards allowed but I'd almost rather have a happy team having fun enjoying themselves vs. Greg Williams rigid strict "don't bend, don't break" mentality. Honestly I know we all are hoping but I'm really hoping that Haslett can get the players he needs and can pull this out now and shut us all up. He's here, most likely not going anywhere soon so ... might as well hope the 3-4 actually revives his career and supprises us all.

This team will be a running machine with Mike Shanahan's running offensive scheme. I'll be honest here also. I really think MS tried through the preseason to incorporate his running scheme and probably figured out quickly that he doesn't have the players to run that either so relied heavily on his son KS to utilize the passing game more. I again hope MS can get more OL for his system to work and teams have to fear the Skins like they did MS's Bronco's when it comes to running. I think KS did a good job but we were one dimensional.

Interesting. not that I'm thinking of your balls, lol, but they were burning? lol. I guess it's the ole thought were if someone has a head ache and you stomp on their foot to take their mind off their head ache.... cept you really must have wanted to focus on your balls. :)
