Also... Mcintosh is still unproven. And it looks like he's also injury prone. His developement has been good but it's too soon to tell.

Washington is consistent and gets the job done. However he is not a playmaker nor is he the type of talent that Lavar was.

Pierce is probably the only quality LB that u mentioned here.

Anyhow, I just love how warpath is divided into the pro-lavar & the anti-lavar.

Me personally I like him. I think his agent mis-represented Lavar severely during the contract negotiations and probably was the bad apple that soured his tenure here and with the organization. All in all, I hope that Lavar plays somewhere again. He's got too much passion and talent to be wasted.

I'm not arguing I'm just asking. Why does everyone say his knee's are shot. I thought when he was here he injured one knee not two. When he was with the Giants his knee was doing fine once the regular season came about, and he was put on IR because of a achilles tear. Also I thought the motorcycle injury was flesh wounds and didn't have anything to do with his knee or knees. I would like to see him as a backup for vet min.

if lavar wants to play he will try, if he doesn't he will be fine also. The guy is a football player first, all of them are. If they can some how come back to get on the field they all would. The fact people out here want to always say this person is done, his knees this and knees that have about as much a clue into someones physical ability as the man on the moon. Its all speculation, on both sides. For all any of us know, he could be back to 100%, knees healthy after the layoff. The loss of weight may have helped, may have some of the quickness back. Or, he could be completely done, who cares. if funny how LaVar threads still end up being the most debated subject on this board. I have been here 3 years(i think) and its crazy how the debates turn into a huge deal. Doesn't matter, we will all find out in June or july if he wants to play. If any of you are new you will quickly learn that anyone that leaves the Redskins they are all of the sudden trash and never were any good, we should have never drafted him, he was more trouble than what he was worth. I have been fighting that battle for as long as I have been here. We can only wait and see if he comes back. if he does great, if he doesn't great. but lets all stop saying he's done, his body is done, knees are shot because honestly you know you dont know squat about his condition, unless you are his physical therapist

I think you misunderstood the point I was making. I'm certainly not suggesting that Marshall is in the same category as Arrington!! I agree that Arrington at his best was better than all the guys on that list; I was just responding to a post that said we have had no quality linebackers since LeVar left.

I don't mean to suggest that these guys are all pro-bowlers, but they all are/were competent for this team, and therefore were "quality" guys. I wouldn't say McIntosh is unproven; he was kicking ass in the beginning of this season, and then forced offenses to adjust to his side of the field. Washington's first two years with us were very productive; he was a pro-bowler in '04, and an alternate in '05 and '06. And as far as Lemar Marshall goes, don't forget he took Arrington's job, and not just because Arrington was hurt. Williams preferred Marshall to Arrington because he made less mistakes. Marshall will never be a playmaker nor will he ever go to a pro-bowl, and it was stupid to move him to the MLB and have him running the defense, but he was an OLB on the leagues 3rd best defense in '04, and I don't remember anyone suggesting he was a weakspot on the team. In fact, it was his success as an outside linebacker that encouraged Williams to try him as MLB. Stellar player? No. "Quality"? Yes.

The accusation I was responding to was suggesting that our linebacking corp has been weak since LeVar left, which is simply untrue. With the exception of '06 (when our d-line and our secondary were equally as bad), our linebackers have been a consistent strength of our defense.

Well...since LeVar was my favorite Redskin, you'd think I would want him to come back to the team, but Williams doesn't like "star players," so I hope he doesn't try to sign with them again. Personally I thought he would have been great in passing situations, but they chose to take him out on third down. I didn't understand the logic then, and if somebody tried to explain it to me, I still wouldn't get it. All I know is that he won games for us while he was healthy. We got him out of college, not from another team, and I'm sick of the Redskins taking retreads from other teams for high draft choices. I want them to look for the next "LeVar" with draft choices, not trade those picks for somebody else's rejects.

LaVar is done, which is really a shame. But if GW is the coach as I suspect he will be, there is NO way LaVar would want to come back or be invited back. It was GW's defensive system that LaVar couldn't adapt to, and I don't see time out of the game improving that situation.

Doesn't anyone remember LaVar's motorcycle accident last summer? He wasn't even in playing shape before that (knees, achiLlies injury), but afterwards, he had a head trauma, broken arm, broken leg in 3 places and a ton of cuts.

He's done. He was before the accident.

Hey while we are talking about bringing back former Redskins why not resign my favorite player Art Monk? He looked great at the HOF press conference with D Green, he fits exactly the mold of the reciever that the Skins need, won't cost any draft picks and we could proabably sign him for cheap. Plus he has no major injuries unlike Lavar!

LaVar "had more than one good year with us." But, sadly, your right LaVar's carrer is done for. I do not believe that he has overcome the injuries he sustained from his motorcycle accident to be the player that he once was.

As I recall, he was not that good his last year playing with the Giants and did not play most of the year, due to injuries.

Actually, I think he just had a slow start. If I remember correctly he was playing absolutely AMAZING in the game he got injured. Sucks to be him.
