God forbid me go out of my way to defend the Eagles, and I'm only really responding because I agree with you that McNabb isn't leading anyone anywhere. Top to bottom, they are the deepest team in the NFC this side of Green Bay. They have the best offensive weapon in the conference, and have really, really invested heavily in both of their lines. For the first time since 2003, they go three deep with competent corners, and when they do add free agents, they make it someone like Chris Clemons, who we Redskins fans know can produce at DE. Even at the Quarterback position, they are in better position now to deal with a McNabb injury than at any point last year, with Kolb having spent his rookie year under the tutilage of Reid and Morninweg. I think it's fallacious to act like they are McNabb's team, because they are a very good team, QB aside. If McNabb plays decent football, they probably win the East, but again, I'm not totally confident that he will play his best this year.
yeah the eagles kinda scare me for all the reasons you stated except i think mcnabb (if healthy) could really play well. he has all the motivation in the world to want to come out and let his play do some of the talkin and it seemed he was doing just that last year until he got injured and slowed down. if mcnabb goes down before the halfway mark of the season i dont think they have a chance at first in the nfc east. either way the nfc east is stacked. again. its a blessing and curse to be in the best division in football. nice use of the word "fallacious" to gtrip. go skins! |

I think the Clemons signing was a good one, both by Oakland last year off the scrap heap, and Philly this year, but the ability to get away from a player who was thought to make a contribution, but appears unable to do so, is a trait found in winning football teams. Last year we had to make a similar decision (though not due to injury) with Lemar Marshall and Randall Godfrey, and simply, we likely would have missed the playoffs without Randall Godfrey. Our FO made a good call, one that probably put our defense over the top. |

Implied, strongly, in your post was your opinion that Jason Campbell is not the best quarterback on the Redskins' roster. Fine, that's your opinion, and you are totally entitled to it. There's mounds and mounds of objective evidence we could bring and ask you to defend why you believe Todd Collins and/or Colt Brennan is a better QB then Jason Campbell, but you aren't the only person on this fourm who is of that opinion. It, very literally, is not possible for one player to take a SUPER BOWL CONTENDER, and tank them to the point of 6-10. But you said the Redskins were a 12 win team (which is three more than last year, if you are counting), and that with Jason Campbell, they are all of a sudden a totally talentless team. None of this even considers that maybe, just maybe (as jdlea pointed out), that Todd Collins and Colt Brennan would be among the worst starting QBs in the league if they had to play a full season, and yet...you would still expect the Redskins to go 12-4 without a passing game. If you were expecting for people not to call BS on that, you clearly don't lurk here often enough. |

First, I need to say, you need to read GTripp's post. It was a great response. Second, it is not us that needs to prove anything to you. You are the one that spewed a bunch of BS and did NOTHING to back it up. We have made a few comments to counteract you (see gtripps post), but you have done nothing to prove to us that you are correct. You mention the win/loss record. Well, in case you haven't noticed, Collins is 10-10 in his 10 year CAREER. Campbell is 8-12. That's only a 2 game difference at best over the course of a season assuming you are going 100% by the numbers. So that 6 game swing is a bit overzealous by the numbers. Todd Collins Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com Jason Campbell Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com As several of us have mentioned, Collins is without his god Saunders...this is Collins first season away from him in a long long time. He's starting from scratch at an old age. ps- weeks 1-4, Campbell went 3-1. weeks 15-18, Collins went 3-1. Also, Collins was 8-25 vs the Giants in a WIN. He had 166 yards passing and 0 tds while the team ran for 153 yards and 2 tds. Obviously, the win was not his, it was due to our rushing and defense. In the playoff loss to Seattle, a lot of people here blamed Suisham...while it did start the decline, we seem to forget that Collins threw 2 key interceptions when it mattered most. This means that Collins is winless in the playoffs. Keep in mind, he did win a meaningless game vs Dallas (meaningless to them anyway). But even in that game, we had 131 yards and 2 tds rushing. While Collins threw only 1 td. So it appears that Collins only lead us to 1 solid win. You probably shouldn't look so hard into those 3 wins. |

(and i think the turning point in the seahawks game was cooley not catching that td pass after seattle didnt touch the ball on kickoff, then suisham missing the fg. but i digress) go skins!
While I will mainly agree with you, Collins had the advantage of WIDE OPEN wr's. He did not make any special throws, like forcing them into a spot that wasn't there...he took advantage of good separation. That could be due to a few reasons, 1- Campbell did not comprehend the entire playbook, therefore it was "dumbed down" for him, 2- Collins did know EVERY play, so it was opened up / adjusted for him (more of a 1a and 1b I know). 3- The players were inspired by ST's death. (about who's fault it was that we lost the playoff game, or who sent us into a downward spiral...I'm not saying that Collins was the problem...I need to be clear on that. But like how the Red Sox lost the 86 series, it wasn't all buckner's fault, there were several issues that lead up to that, and Buckner became the scapegoat. Suisham has been the scapegoat for that loss in Seattle, when in fact there were several other issues...that was my point...collins had some blame in there too.) |

Paging Osi to the ER, Osi to the ER please.. The Giants have Super Bowl letdown written ALL over them.. They were a good team that got hot at the right time but Eli is still average (if the Pats DBs can catch, you lose the SB), you now have lost 2 top 10 DE and a top 10 TE without comparable replacements and I don't think Plax has even suited up for one practice yet, has he? 8-8 will be a successful season at this point for the G-men. |

Now even if we finished 13-3 last year it could had easily be 11-5 because of the two lost games that we shouldn't won that we did (Buffalo,Detroit) which are 2 bad teams that almost got the best of us. So with all this saying a 12-4/11-5 record it's more realist to the season and still a great record and also I don't care if we finish 10-6 if we get in and win some playoffs games because the record means Jack Shiit once you get in the playoffs. Second duuuuuude to come to a Rivals board and attack them it's just dumb and classless, I've been posting here for 4 years now I think and i have found the majority of the members to be class act people with great points of view not only about their team but football in general and willing to take a different point of view and critic of their team from a rival from that matter if it's well supported, constructive and without attacking the team or their fanbase by it self. Sure you'll get some members that will throw everything you've said and attack you but you have to expect that, and discard it and focus on the good post of the other members. I come here because first and foremost I love Football and like to talk about it and hate getting my references from the media who know nothing about the teams so what better way to learn about a rival team than talking to them and see how they look at their team, players, coaches and management. So if you come with open eyes i know some members will welcome you and your opinions, but if you don't I would have to agree with them maybe this isn't the board for you. |

Would like to add that posts such as that only serve to give merit to the impression of a Cowboys fan to a 'Skins fan. |
Re: Post your NFC East predictions here!
this is not a call out attempt. i just like to see what we were thinking before the season and compare it to how it really played out. cant believe the season is over already.
alot of us were right about predicting the skins to go 8-8 or somewhere close to there. alot of us (including me) didnt believe the giants could continue their success. they went on to win the division. alot of us gave no love to philly either but there playing deep into Jan. good for them. kinda fun to read cowboy fans predictions. next year they will be saying the same thing. go skins!! |
