Re: The Case For...
any lineman, on both sides of the ball. but if its a draft pick, it better not be a project. bring in someone you think can play right away. in a related note, i kind of like the idea of Daniels at defensive tackle. to me, its worth a try. and if im correct, he played some in Chicago

Donoven or Suggs. Peppers could be a bust at his age.

Re: The Case For...
Suggs could be a product of his environment

We put him at right tackle his natural position replace Jansen with him(starks) |
Re: The Case For...
Michael Vick...
Wait until he is cut by ATL, then pick him up possibly at Vet Min. He can fill one of 3 possible roles. 1. Backup QB, 2. replacement for Campbell in a year? Maybe 3. An offensive Athlete Reciever/Runner/Passer/Returner (Remember Cordell Stewart?). And don't tell me "What about ARE?". ARE is about as versatille as a used condom with a hole in it. The only think that its good for is getting thrown away. I mean seriously, what has ARE done since he has been here? If you said gotten worse at everything, then you are correct. |
Re: The Case For...
My other oline choices are restricted free agents, but worth it, them being Jahri Evans OG from the saints and donald Penn OT for the Bucs who was the only starting LT who didn't allow a demarcus ware sack they are both 3rd year guys, so proven and young are two huge pluses in my book

PETA is requesting that Vick take a Psych eval before being reinstated. In the event that he passes it and he has met their requirements, then they would have no choice but to STFU and back down. As far as Vick being rusty, that is what training camp is for. It's not like we would need him to come out and be a QB right away if at all. I doubt that after all he has done, and is going to do to repent for his wrong doing that the commish is actually going to keep him banned. He is more deserving of a second chance than several other players who have gotten second chances. |

Character issues aside, the guy was never really that great a Quarterback to begin with and now you want to bring him back after a year out of the league. The only time Vick was really "successful" was when Reeves protected him by limiting the amount of times he threw. However what really did Vick in was the Cover 2 defense. Having those two corners on the aside, fast linebackers, quick DE's, and a QB who wasn't really that accurate went a long way towards exposing him as nothing more then a glorified running back. Once teams realized that they didn't have to worry so much about him throwing the jig was up, as before teams would psyche themselves out by thinking they had to defend the run and the pass on passing plays. He's not worth the trouble and media circus that he would bring. And remember I've possibly watched Vick more then anyone else on this forum so for once I know what I'm talking about. |

I have made my case and not everyone agrees with me which is fine. Let's not turn this into a Vick thread and get it back on track. Hijack over. |

Somehow everyone is too scared to let their balls drop so they continue to allow PETA and MADD and so on to enforce ridiculous shit and blatantly misstate things because they're too afraid of being labeled an animal beater or alcoholic. What else could these organizations do if they were told to shutup and stay out of everyone's business? |
Re: The Case For...
PETA should have nothing to do with Vicks return to the NFL.

Re: The Case For...
Jeff Garcia.
Cambell is too comfortable without having to look over his shoulder. And if Cambell pulls it together then we would still have a quality veteran back up. |

Wow, I didn't realize Collins would be that big of a cap hit. But if it means having the option of putting an exciting QB on the field that gives your team a chance to win then yeah, pay the 2.5. Collins has played a handful of games the last decade or so and for all we know he was a system QB. We need to stop babying Cambell by telling him that he is the man. If he wants this job he needs to go out and compete with someone who is a competitor and win it. |
Re: The Case For...
Karlos Dansby if he's not franchised. Watching him in the playoffs and superbowl really sold me one the guy. It would be nice to have a solid playmaking OLB who can get pressure as well. On a side note I saw Charlie Casserly at the Georgetown Safeway yesterday and kind of made me nostalgic. I know he didn't have the greatest track record but beggars can't be choosers.
Dansby was just franchised |
Re: The Case For...
i'd add me, cause i could always use the money.

Re: The Case For...
I would make a strong case for Ravens center/guard Jason Brown. Depending on exactly how much he wants, I think he would be a great investment to add some more youth (well....some) to our o-line. He's only 25, and has had two great seasons - arguably pro bowl worthy seasons. He would do a great job filling in at either guard or center, which are both key needs this offseason.

Re: The Case For...
I agree takethecake and welcome to The Warpath. If we could get him at a reasonable price he would be a great addition to our line. I think his price is going to be pretty steep though and we might not be able to afford him. But I would love to get him!
|
Re: The Case For...
Thanks for the welcome 53fan, a couple sites I was looking at say there's around a 50% chance of brown staying with the ravens, so that helps us. Unfortunately, there will probably be a lot of other teams looking to sign him, and especially after gross and carey's big deals, they might be willing to throw more at him than the skins can with their current cap situation...
...that being said, we can hope something works its way out... |
