Re: Randy Moss = no class
My best guess is Belichek has a very strict media policy. In fact, I'm 95% sure he won't even let his assistant coaches talk tot he media. That's a team thing. I guess it's hard to stay gracious when you have people trying to talk to you every minute of every day. I'd love to say I'd have a better attitiude, but catch me on the wrong day and Im sure I'd react the same, if not worse than Moss.

Re: Randy Moss = no class
I'd take a WR with a little less class if he could produce number like Moss.

From BB "We may have more players on regularly scheduled radio, internet, and TV shows during the week than any other team in the NFL. I meet with the media six times per week, in addition to a weekly post-game radio show, pre-game radio show and mid-week TV show. And all through the spring, we make players available to the media. There is no shortage of ways for fans to connect with the Patriots." |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
This has evolved into a great thread. Interesting to say the least. But I'm starting to take issue with Moss constantly being demonized because he cursed at a reporter/journalist. First of all, we all know Moss' reputation so it seems somewhat convenient, to an extent unprofessional, to take a public shot at Moss knowing the perception that already exists. Secondly, Moss never got to defend himself. We only know what Tanner wrote. Did Moss just receive a bad phone call from home that soured his mood? Was his back bothering him? Let's be clear, cursing isn't acceptable, but it seems we're jumping to conclusions based on one side of the story.
Of all the asshole things Moss has been accused of, he keeps his nose clean during the offseason and he can stick the damn ball in the endzone. That's all I care about as football fan. You know, which reporter got his feathers ruffled in the locker room by Randy Moss comes off as petty and immature. But that's just me. And as someone else stated earlier, I do all my bitching here on Warpath. |

Exactly. I mean Mr. Haynesworth has a history of doing worse things than Randy Moss. I don't remember Randy Moss stomping on someone's face. Yet when he planted Brady into the ground Fri. night I don't think anyone was thinking about Andre Gurode's poor little forehead that needed stitches. lol. |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
I think Tanners biggest mistake was just not realizing beforehand how big an a**hole Moss really is and then reporting on it just came across the wrong way to some people. I personally have no problem with calling Moss an a**hole.

Same here, in fact the speech sounded like a way to justify limiting access to players, by stressing all the time they do make them available. Even the phrase "make them available" has a certain implication that at other times, they are NOT available. |

If Tanner wants to only interview those who are always accommodating and have good manners then I would suggest he think twice about entering professional locker rooms. And maybe saying a local sports blog would work better instead of saying I work for Chris Cooley. You know, the guy you were just playing against. |
All of you guys bashing Randy Moss crack me up. He's been nothing but a leader on NE's team. If we make the trade to Oakland and he's wearing burgundy and gold, catches 20+ TD's in one season, takes JC's game to the next level, all of you would be sniffing his jock. Amazing.
How has he been a leader? Phenomenal player, yes. But leader? |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
I can understand where Tanner is coming from. It's not so much that Moss said no but it's the way that he said no. Seriously though you guys, if that was Clinton Portis who treated someone like that he'd get ripped for about a good 75 pages here. So Moss saying no would be one thing but the way that he went at Tanner was a lil messed up to me.

I really don't care if its Moss or Portis the guy is not even a reporter and just doing a blog for hi brother who just burned them for over 75 yards. If Portis did this I'd ask why the guy was even in the locker room. |

Exactly. People are putting this in the context of a normal reporter approaching Moss for an interview. This is the brother of the dude that just dusted your secondary, and did it quite well I might add. It's the perception here the undermines his motive a bit. Anyway, did Shawn Springs get on the field for the Pats? I almost forgot he's playing for them now. |

Re: Randy Moss = no class
Hopefully Tanner is still “listening” and has a sense of humor.
Two things: 1. When parents name their child, they should try to get something that doesn't necessarily rhyme but rolls off the tongue nicely. The Cooley’s did this well with this for Chris not Tanner. 2. Tanner you need to blog about how bad your brother looks on Madden 10, his helmet is all jacked up. Ok thanks for listening and I am sorry for your encounter with Snoop Dog I mean Randy Moss. |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
I think Cooley's blog is really outstanding, and no doubt that's in large part to Tanner's efforts on it. I don't know him, but he seems like a pretty smart guy and the blog is proof that he works hard.
Does he benefit from being Chris' brother? Sure he does. Let's put it this way, I don't think he gets a media credential from the Redskins if he's not CC's brother. We've had our own hard working, amateur reporter here who-even with the backing and support of professional media-was still denied access so yeah Tanner I think benefits from having the last name Cooley. But there are a lot of us who have benefited from family connections. It's really about what you do with those connections. And all indications are that Tanner isn't some sort of slacker just mooching off his brother's fame. Even Tanner admitted, I believe, that it was his first time in an opposing locker room (particularly immediately after a game) so maybe it was a bit of a shell shock to him how the "other side" acts. Imagine if it was a regular season game, and the Pats had lost?! But, having been there myself, I know it's frustrating to have someone snap at you when you're just trying to do your job. That said, if you're going to sell yourself as a reporter (which I'm not necessarily suggesting Tanner did), then commit to the sell. It's a bit disingenuous, in my opinion, to race back to your blog to talk about what an ass Moss is. The story should have ended in the Pats' locker room. I know what it's like to have an athlete be a total dick to you. I've already mentioned in the past here on this site about certain Redskins who were like that. And yeah it can be damn frustrating. Not sure that a blog post was the best way to respond. Imagine though if this was Tanner's profession. As in, he's got to get a story in to meet a deadline and he can't get a player to answer one question. But, it is what it is. For every Randy Moss who doesn't want to talk to you, there's a Danny Wuerffel who will always talk to you whenever you need, or a Tre Johnson who won't stop talking to you even when you don't want to. |

I have heard BB say this on TV a few times. He said it last week as a matter of fact. He was talking about how Moss has helped the other WR's with the offense. |

What was your third question going to be? |

Well, I would say that in Darth Hoody's world, being a prick is part of leadership. Nothing against BB the coach, he obviously has a system of work and discipline that works (hence 3 SBs), but as a person I would say that he is a prick. |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
Ehh. The whole blog seems like its meant to be funny for the most part. This was pretty funny. Cooley's brother sneaking into the patriots locker room and getting cussed at, funny! I wouldn't take it to seriously in eitheir direction. Yeah Randy Moss is probably a dick. No real shocker. And yeah, I can beleive that no redskin would talk to someone like that, at least not from what I've seen of CURRENT redskins.

Pacman is one of the reasons I think Mike Vick is not going to do much this season. Once your stagnant for too long your elite edge starts to wear off. Vick can throw but I just don't think he'll be the running threat many think he'll be. |

Pacman was nowhere near the player last year that he was before. Perhaps Vick was just hesitant but he looked less quick last week. I saw video of the "old" Vick and there was a clear difference. He still has a cannon arm, though. |

So basically they traded Michael Irvin for Adam Shefter. I know they play different positions and all, but still. Since we're hijacking this thread, I think John "Chucky" Gruden is doing a nice job on MNF. |
