And what position does he play on Sunday? |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
some are saying our secondary is alot better than there recievers ...
sorry i really dont think so, not with eli throwing the ball if we dont get pressure with they good OL ... if we dont get enough pressure, like we've lacked in recent years... eli will pick us apart like he has in recent years... this game will fall on the defensive pressure we get, bottom line. i dont expect our offense to put up big numbers, its the first game... theres some shakes and jitters to get out and hit to be given/recieved.... and we havent exactly looked GREAT against decent defenses..... especially with the giants line, our running game and our pass pro will suffer... final prediction 14 - 13 skins. cuz i have hope. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Anyone predicting the Giants to score twenty plus on us have to be crazy. Similar to the Cowboys, the Giants lost one HELL of an offensive weapon in Burress, not to mention a great secondary receiver in Toomer. Pretty much the brunt of the offense is going to fall on Jacobs with Eli throwing to mostly rookie WRs.
We had one of the best defensive teams in the NFL last year and this was WITHOUT Haynesworth and Orakpo. If the Giants win, it sure as hell won't be because they're marching up and down the field on us. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
^ but we still got ate up in the passing game.....remember? .... 'bend dont break bullshit'..... so soon to 4get.
giants recievers are fast, and hakeem nicks is big AND fast and played well in the summer.... dont under-estimate. i've learned over the years to be REALISTIC when hoping for a win. |

I remember the game clearly, and after their first 2 drives (1 TD, 1 FG) they stopped moving the ball. The first drive they had all the SB champ hype and they were fired up. WE on the other hand last year always took a quarter to "ramp up". If Hakeem Nicks plays well, then it could be closer. But our secondary receivers have looked far better than their primary receivers, and if we can back their LB's off, we will run better also. One last thing I remember about that game was how little Zorn used Cooley. As JZ admitted earlier this week, he didn't really know his players strengths and weaknesses last year game 1, and this year Cooley will not be limited to 1 catch for 7 yards. If they try and bottle up CP, as I expect most teams to do early, JC will win the game for us. Believe you me! |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
and the second game?
he ate our pass d up. and i disagree that our 2ndary recievers are THAT much better than their starters at this point. sorry. ZORN, hasnt really shown any progression in play-calling, i still think if he doesnt improve from last year and some pre-season lack-lust.... then i maintain that he sucks at play-calling, like he did last year. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I guess it's an agree to disagree.
I will agree that Eli picked us apart that game, but that is one game out of the last 6. No way of knowing on the receivers till this weekend, but I absolutely would take our top 5 over their top 5 every time. I have always thought Zorn has called effective games, but again that's an agree to disagree point, because how do you really prove it. You can call a perfect game, but penalties, dropped passes, fumbles, and other player mistakes can cause the team to lose. The question is whether the called play had a chance to be an effective play, and the only call I ever remember seeing that was a "What is he thinking" moment was the Fred Davis reverse . Fortunately all the speculating ends in 3 1/2 days! Roll on! |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
^ i would take them, no doubt, it just hasnt been proven to me yet thats all... it is a we'll see kinda thing yea....
as for zorn, it almost ALWAYS seemed like the other(good) teams knew when we were running the ball and knew what was coming before the ball was snapped... |
Totally agree, Nicks looked great in pre-season and I believe that just like Malcolm Kelly he will play very well and get better as the season progresses. That's right don't under estimate. |

I know most of us hate on Cowherd, but I heard him make a good point in regard to this topic recently. He basically said as fans we have no idea what's going on when it comes to playcalling, how complex it is, the situational calls, plays that are setting something up for later on, etc. I think it's true. It's part of the reason I hate listening to people bang on the playcalling after a game. What we see on TV is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to playcalling and it's really a pointless debate. |

And if not for stupid playcalling and horrible INt's by Eli in that first game, the score could have easily gotten out of hand. I could see NY easily scoring 20 + on our defense. Hixon killed our seconday in that 2nd game. Let's see if the addition of Haynesworth and Orakpo makes a difference. You have to remember that NY has one of the best O-lines in the NFL and they're better in the trenches than we are. |

The Giants are 6-3 in those games. He's reached 300 yards only once (305 last November at FedEx).
That seems like a mixed review. Terrible rating, 6 ints. but the 6-3 is definitely preferred. Still 6-4 after Sunday. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
And what position does he play on Sunday?
He holds every one of those players future in his hands,as a GM he has done his job and is as much of the team as any player or coach on that field. |

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I like our chances. Second year in the offensive system, it has to improve if only a little... and we played pretty decent in last years Giants opener (all things considered). Our defense will probably stay about as good as last year.
More importantly, we won't have to worry about our o-line wearing out for at least 5 more games. I am staring the Giants placekicker on my fantasy teams because I predict the Giants will get a decent number of field goals (3 or 4) and very few touchdowns. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Reporters asked AH if it was more of a challenge going up against someone running the ball as big as Brandon Jacobs. He said, "It doesn't matter to me....what is he ..250? I was 250 in the 10th grade...so...you know." Ha-ha..I love this guy! He said, "They all fall the same way." Let's roll baby!

K. But remember this... much like the Cowboys, the guy that was drawing double and triple coverage is gone. Hixon, Smith and the rest are going to be drawing single coverage only unless someone steps into Plexico's place. In addition to that, go ahead and remember to highlight that we just added the best defensive lineman in football and the most promising pass rusher in years. Things have changed a LOT in a year. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
^ Tell it like it is Malcolm!
|
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I will do this. And just referencing what skinsfan69 is saying (because I really do respect him) he mentions games being won in the trenches... remember that Haynesworth WILL be in the trenches. He's one of the most dominant DL in recent memory. Just like Burress or TO, tell me he won't make everyone else around him MUCH better and MUCH more competitive with the Giants OL.
|
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
According to JLC on the NFL network (Ross and Dockery DB's for Giants) might not play due to hammy injuries. I guess that's good news for our WR's.
|
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I think the Giants really struggle out of the gate this year finding cohesiveness on offense without much of a passing game.. 24-10 Redskins.

Dominant I don't know about but he was one if not the best avaiable but none of that was in the NFC East which has the best O lines in the league, still alot of questions about his health and fitness. |
