Well a dream draft pick should be one that will help the Redskins win, and not just be statistically in the top 5 in defense. Besides, this guy Suh is showing up in all the threads. Not to mention people saying that we should pick up a defensive player with the first rounder.

I understand, it's because he could be the second comming of Reggie White. Adding that type of talent to a top tiered defense is scary
Definitely agree that we shouldn't pick up a QB and I highly doubt Tebow will be even average in this league. Don't agree with the Suh pick though, I say we trade it away and get at least 2-3 Offensive linemen...I don't know about you but I don't think Samuels has what it takes anymore
trading down is another option, as i doubt suh will even be available. alot can change between now and the draft, but he's definitely a top 3 pick and i dont think we'll be picking that high anyways.

I wouldn't count on Samuels coming back, but if he did, id plug him in at RT, relegate Heyer to a backup, start Levi Jones at LT, and draft his replacement in the 2nd round.

If we're picking in the top 5-8 and there's not a complete stud of a player that falls to us (like orakpo this year), then i agree we should try like hell to trade down. with so many juniors expected to declare for the draft in 2010, this draft should be especially deep at pretty much every position. if theres no stud, "can't miss" prospects, i'd absolutely love to trade down out of the 1st round entirely, and pick up as many 2nd rounders as we can.

Suh is going to require double-teams. Haynesworth already requires that. By next year, its possible Orakpo will, too. Its a very scary proposition, indeed. If he's available, we simply can't pass on him.

If the draft were today we would draft 6th. If Suh goes in the top 5 then he is not relevant to our conversation as things stand right now.

except for the fact that if he fails to us it's a must take, i think thats what the majority of people are saying

while i agree it would be great to trade down the chances of that happening are slim to none, if we have a top ten pick which we most likly will have. no one will want to trade down to pick up that cost with this most likely being the last year with out a rookie wage scale.

we could however trade down our second pick for a later second and a 5th which would be nice since we don't have a third

same thing happened this year, do you honestly think they had orakpo as their pick? he was top ten talent and thanks to the radiers and the bills he fell in our lap

I've been saying that we need to draft an o-lineman with our first pick no matter what. Someone like Okung preferrably. There are good defensive players available in the draft every year..but...my gosh does Suh look good. The more I read about him, and after seeing him in the Texas game, the same scenario as BHA describes has been playing in my head over and over and over..... Fortunately there is plenty of time to think this thing out and there should be some options with trades and such. There is a lot of time between now and the draft and a lot could happen. Restraint requires discipline, it should be interesting. My dream would be that we somehow acquire another #1 and get them both. Defininitely a dream. :)

They had been eyeing Orakpo for a while, they didn't just stumble upon him on draft day

they had been eyeing him yeah, so had a lot of other teams. if al davis wouldn't have pushed the button on dhb, him we might not have gotten him.

had orakpo not been there i think we probaly would have got cushings or oher

I'd like to think that too but I don't think it was the case. Cushing was the first guy they were interested in (as in back in January) but Maualuga grew on them as the off-season progressed to the point that he was the #2 choice. But really they rotated a lot among the three USC guys so at any point on draft day the answer could have been different

I've been pimping Suh for a couple months now, not going to stop. The kid is sick. Him and AH = No pocket.

I realize we need a lot of OL help, but Id rather get a steal with Suh than a reach for the best T.

i dont see him dropping to our pick right now we would have the 5th overall pick by my guess.

1. Bucs
2. Browns
3. Rams
4. Lions
5. Skins

Re: Dream Draft Pick of the 2010 Draft

Was @ Oak is a big “draft order” game this weekend. This could all be moot if we win a couple of our final games, which is realistic. The key games are not all this weekend, but from now til the end of the year.

1 W: Cleve, TB, ST Louis
2 W’s: Detroit (Chic @ Det, if Det wins and we lose out, then we move up)
3 W’s: KC, Was
4 W’s: Buff, Oak,

Key Games:
Buf @ KC , Cle @ KC
Was @ Oak
Chi @ Det

Not rooting for a loss this week, but if we do lose, we’ll get draft tiebreakers over Oak, KC due to head to head. All this will sort itself out soon enough. I’m guessing we end up about 7th or 8th.

I’m planning on a Cowboys win at home. Bank on it.

Re: Dream Draft Pick of the 2010 Draft

I hope it plays out like this
Round 1 Russell Okung
Round 1 (trade next years 1 and 5th) Colt McCoy
Round 2 Ryan Mathews

If this happened I would be estatic

Draft tiebreakers are done according to strength of schedule, not head-to-head.

im with you, im a VT grad so I saw him dominate the line there and ever since. that combo imo is too good to pass up. i also believe we might be reaching to take okung in the top 5 if thats where we went.

we are going to get a QB in this years draft. In this scenario we would get the best Tackle available and a decent QB, why don't you like this?

id be unhappy for several reasons. first, i dont like mccoy, i do not think he will be a good pro. second, if we did get him, i sure wouldnt want to trade away a future 1st rounder to get him, as I dont think hes even worthy of a 1st round pick. third, if we do go QB, id much rather have clausen who would be my first choice, bradford, locker, tebow...again thats just my opinion.

Trading up for another first rounder is expensive.

A fifth round pick? It would cost way more than that.

Also McCoy stinks IMO.

It's a coin flip in the case of a strength of schedule tie.

We have a higher strength of schedule than KC so if the season ended today KC would draft 5 and we would draft 6.

I'm going to jump on the Suh bandwagon. Then find a way to trade back into the first and get an OT in the mid to late 1st round. Sign a young free agent at Guard and Center. I'll probably be changing my mind tomorrow.

id agree if there were another jake long, joe thomas, chris samuels type of elite prospect at the OT position worthy of a top 3-5 pick. do you think okung is in that class? some think so, im not so sure. id rather not reach to fill a need. i guess it really depends on where we pick.

If we don't reach then we need to trade down. any pick other then OL would be ridiculous. I guess, I could modify that if a stud, along Orakpo's situation, fell to us, and we wheeled and dealed and got several OL in the later rounds. But we normally are on the losing end of wheeling and dealing so if we reach we reach. 2010 is the year to right the OL.
