Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
yes we do lack the deep ball, but think about it. we all know the deep ball usually goes only to santana. santana is way more effective when he crosses the middle, because as he is spied. that leaves cooley open to the flats. they have to spread the ball. that is the only way the running game will open up, and allow a play for a deep pass.

Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
As far as picks next year lets say a new salary cap does get into place with a new collective bargaining agreement - with our current salary cap strcuture can we even afford a top 5 pick - whether it be a lineman or qb? I know that trading a pick takes two sides but I think if a salary cap is in place next year we may not have a choice in keeping that pick even if it means not getting fair value by trading down - there are consequences when you give massive contracts to big time free agents.
As far as which position I prefer to build the offensive line and do it via the draft and maybe pick one or two players via free agency - although with our cap I don't really know if this is viable since all decent offensive lineman command big salaries. Lets try to learn from history here guys - one of the main reasons we won 3 superbowls was because of the hogs - once we get that unit up to speed the other parts can be put into place. |
and the problem with Bradford? Who is going to block for him? Success starts upfront. Build lines first. Snyder has no clue how to do that. Why? I guess that is too boring.
I say you go for the franchise QB possibility first, harder to find than a competent o-line. If we bring in a golden boy, we'll get some more protection one way or another. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Well the only way we get a great QB is to draft 1 and we don't have a good track recorded drafting QB's. So I'm not thinking drafting a QB with our 1st round pick in 2010 cause its not easy evauluating QB's out of college. Every WR gets open in college football but in the NFL that window so much smaller.
So we need to draft scared as well as play scared something tells me that's not what to do |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Hmmm...JC or VY?
Would you rather be shot in the head or the balls? |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
I think now anyone that likes or dislikes JC has to see now that our offense's lack of production is more than him being a poor QB that can't read defenses. Every football expert can see that with our awful O-Line and poor play calling contributes to our poor offense. Like I stated early on this thread JC was not drafted by JOE GIBBS to run a WC offense. If we bring in another coach that runs a WC offense dont keep JC becuase he will fail in this system. Considering we have not drafted a O-LIneman in the 1st round since Chris Samuels are we surprised that our O-Line blows ass.
Get the f*ck out of here!!! Is this a serious question?
How many of you watched Vince Young destroy USC in the Rose Bowl? How many of you thought VY was going to suck in the NFL? Hey VY is what he is a athlete that plays QB. Im not saying I wanted Vince for JC but some many people bash JC and dont take in consideration how trashed his O-Line is. People want JC gone so I asked Who do you want then. You want to spend a 1st round pick on a college QB or find a Back up QB on some other teams roster. Good teams don't have franchise QB's sitting on the bench. We would be better off keeping JC and drafting Lineman next draft than drafting a QB with our #1 pick. Prior post some fans said we should pick Bradford out Oklahoma, ok but will still have a sh*t O-Line. JC can be a solid QB if we can run the ball and play good defense. He is no Peyton or Tom Brady but niether was Rex Grossman and they made it to the Super Bowl. So settled down Saden and read some prior posts on here. If not go shut the hell up.:boxing: |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
I'm guessing maybe you meant to ask Jason Campbell or Vince Young. The thread title gave me at least the impression that you were suggesting a Campbell for Young trade.
But maybe a better question would have simply been "How would you address the QB situation?" or "If Campbell's gone, who should be our QB in 2010?" Something along those lines perhaps |

We had the Vince Young debate here a looong time ago before JC was getting trashed on as QB. Technically your question is a rehash. But like SS said, maybe that's due to poor phrasing. The Skins O-Line is trashed, but the Skins were playing shitty BEFORE the O-Line was trashed. Btw, Rex Grossman had a decent supporting cast and a pretty good, consistent defense that launched them into the playoffs. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Vince young is nothing more than an oversized Michael Vick from his early days. He can run around, but can't read a defense to save his life. Campbell is far better than Young. Young happened to play on a team that got a lot of pub because they beat USC. Young can move around better than Campbell, but that is about all that he does better than him. Campbell gets my vote because he is somewhat of a pocket passer and at least tries to stay with the play. Young wants to pull it down and run most of the time.

Your answer is right. Franchise type players don't often hit the open market and they don't really sit the bench. I wouldn't mind giving Campbell another year, but I know that his time here is done because the ownership has decided that. It is their own fault that they couldn't land Sanchez or Cutler. Since when don't they pony up for players that they really like? They usually would overpay with money or draft picks. The reason that they didn't pony up is because they knew that they had to get some defensive help because of the lack of a pass rush. If they got a QB, he would have been killed and there would have been nothing little Danny could have done but watch as his precious new QB gets thrown to the ground because the offensive line that he and Cerrato have built throughout the years got that QB injured. To me, there is no alternative but keep Campbell ink him to a deal. Draft a Qb if they want to in the second round to push Campbell and draft a lineman in the first round and third round. The QB will push Campbell for playing time and the ability to motivate. The lineman will hopefully be the start of rebuilding a depleted offensive line that has been ignored for far too long. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Of course, we MUST draft an OT.. Look at Dolphins, Parcells took Jake Long and you could see the results tonight.. Draft OT at #1 and C (or SLB so Orakpo can be DE as full-time) at #2..

Yeah because he keeps getting burned. Most notably in the game against Detroit when he got beat for that crucial first down and last game he got burned by the TE for a TD. If he can't cover a TD. He definitely needs to be on the D-Line full-time!!! |

A Rookie QB is 50-50 as to how he is going to perform. We have to focus on the O-Line for 2010 Draft. |

DMV and GridIron I agree with you that Orakpo needs to stay out of coverage. He can't stay with a TE on the Panthers he will get eaten alive by Witten and Boss. Orakpo needs to be rushing up field. Who can they put at Orakpo's position as of now. I have'nt seen much of Chris Wilson this season I guess he is not ready to play SLB. So many holes on this team right now. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
For fun, I've added a poll. None and Jason Campbell are not options in this poll
|
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
If we could get Brady Quinn for like a 4th or 5th id say go ahead and do it. I hear thats around the range he is said to be worth in a trade.
OR we could go get Derrick Johnson and put him at SLB moving RAK to DE and let the big dawg eat. Sorry for going off topic. Just tired of seeing RAK in coverage when he should be putting QB's on their a$$. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
our quarterback for next year should be from the draft, mccoy, tebow, bradford, clausen,
snead,you get the picture.... |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Yikes, if these were our options I would honestly pass on all of them.

Why not put a "hot stick in the eye" as one of the options and see which one gets the most votes?

Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Those were the choices so I picked Lionheart. Honestly, I'd rather draft a QB, say in the fifth round after we've gotten a tackle, guard, and center.

Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Anyone want to take a flyer on John David Booty? Not me, for the record
|
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
None of the above. All these guys are busts. I don't see any improvement. Let's get a good offensive line and it doesn't matter who is the quarterback.

Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
I would rather have the bag tim tebow was puking in after his concussion than any of those.

That seems to be the logical point of view. When they'll subscribe to logic in Ashburn, don't hold your breath. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
I wouldn't want any of these. I refuse to vote in that poll!!! lol
|
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Not that I wouldn't mind seeing if one of these guys could do it, but I wouldn't want to give up anything for them, not even a 5th probably. If one was cut, sure, but that's about it.

Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
i think its pretty clear that smith, russell, and young will never be good nfl quarterbacks. however i believe that quinn and leinhart shouldnt be considered busts yet. quinn has barely played, and leinhart has been behind kurt warner who led them to the super bowl...my choice would be between quinn and leinhart, but quinn would edge it just because i believe he is a better leader with a stronger arm.

I'd consider a 5th for either of those.. or a 6th and a 3rd stringer or something. I just can't see it being worth it when we're trying to develop QBs from later rounds or unsigned, I guess that you have more possibilities with a Quinn or Leinart though.. a few seasons of never playing and you can completely kill the rhythm that these guys needed to get going to be successful NFL QBs.. and I think another reason that some of our WRs never develop anywhere else either; nobody wants them anymore and if they do get picked up, nobody really looks at them as a starting option, plus they've sat their way out of being able to make a difference. |

Man, are you JC's private dancer or something? Just because you work it to his Fathead every night, doesn't mean you need to come to his defense all of the friggin time like he's your damsel in distress. I have never said he sucks, or that he is the worst QB of all time. I have consistently said he'd make a decent back-up, and would do fine as a starter under absolutely IDEAL cirsumnstances (like the Titans of last year). It's comical that you of all people would accuse anyone of being repetitive here. |
Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
You know, when looking at all the VIABLE options, ones that I consider an upgrade to the position, there really aren't that many proven alternatives to replace JC with a better PROVEN quarterback. It looks like we are gonna have to roll the dice with either Sam Bradford or Pike from Cincy (Whom I think will be a monster of a QB in this league, 6 foot 5 inches and tough as nails, shit, he'd have to be to play here......). We actually might end up either trading JC and a first round pick (Which ours should be decent, pick 7 - 11 methinks) for someone proven, or just trade him away for a 3rd and 4th round pick, draft Bradford or Pike like I said, and use the 2nd rounder, the two 3rds on the best available offensive lineman, regardless of "tackle" or "guard", since we dont give a fuck anyway, we shuffle those peckerheads more than a deck of Bicycle Reds.
Actually, even tho some might not want to rebuild, I think thats what it has come to. Hopefully with our defense staying relatively studly, I can see us becoming the 2nd reincarnation of the Falcons of present, maybe even a tad better given our D. I also support trading Clinton "Run into my own fucking guys back, fall down, repeat" Portis for a middle of the road 1st to late 1st rounder (if we can squeeze that out with a team hurting for a good RB) and with that pick, roll the dice on the best WR available to opposite Moss. A good 2nd, with Moss, Cooley and a younger, better OL would definitely be an upgrade to what we have this year. Maybe there are better moves, and maybe Im smokin the chronic thinking Portis is worth a late first rounder, but shit, even a second rounder would suffice. Given the lack of production, the two backups we have now, I dont really see that big of a dropoff, if there even is any. So, I guess thats my General Manager / Head Coaching moves if I ruled the world.........or, at least was able to wrestle control of the skins away from Money Boy............ Comments???? Thoughts??? Am I right on, accurate, or completely fucking off my rocker?????? |

Re: Jason Campbell for Vince Young ? Who would you rather have?
Quinn can't even beat out Anderson who goes 2-17. Doesn't have an NFL arm.
Russell is just a total bust and doesn't even carry himself like a pro. Smith might be worse than Quinn cause he can't beat of Shawn Hill. Young will never have the pocket game but is probably better than Quinn, Russell and Smith cause he has the mobility. Leinart is pretty interesting and if he comes available I'd take a look at him. He's played well in some games and has probably learned a lot from Warner. |
