I realize that the O-line needs help first, but what about throwing a 2nd-rounder to the Rams for Steven Jackson?
He and Portis would be a great tandem and Jackson will be here after Portis is finished.
Who's going to block for them? Steven Jackson? Isn't he just as old as Portis? You know we have 5 RBs on the squad already? How about saving picks for the O-line? Is that you Vinny? |
Exactly. For once we're going to have to play the cards we're dealt and address this during the offseason. I would be interested in seeing what they want for him. 5 year vet with good size and some pass rushing moves. I would prefer to trade players instead of draft picks. They're not too happy with Glenn Dorsey, maybe they would have some interest in Anthony Montgomery? |

Oh yeah now that would be a good move too, Glenn Dorsey was considered the next warren sapp coming out of LSU. And I agree with SFREDSKIN on getting Josh Cribbs, So thats Dorsey, Derrick Johnson, and Cribbs that I wouldn't mind the Skins getting. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if we made a trade soon, considering Vinny and Dan want to keep our minds on the team TRYING to improve instead of us bashing them and/or Jim Zorn. |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Why don't we just sign Levi Brown to the Oline?
|
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Tampa Bay has traded Gaines Adams (Had a pretty good day against us) to the Bears for a 2010 2nd round pick. Seems they're unloading players to get ready for next year. Duane Bowe may be being shopped by KC.

Not even speculation so I doubt it.

Mark Sanchez for all our draft picks next season. Because you know the QB is the problem here. :) |

The couch would not accept the trade offer. |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
I honestly would like to see us pick up an offensive lineman and Joey Galloway. I don't want to hear anything about signing veterans past their prime. I just want us to be somewhat competitive the rest of the season. I know WRs are supposed to take 3 years to develop, but I'm growing impatient and want to see some production NOW.
Sure he might not give us much, but has either Kelly or Thomas? My only concern is him taking reps away from them both, but part of me doesn't care. |

Ah man. I just got back from lunch and just saw he was released and thought it might be a good idea.
Damn Ravens and their quick planning. :( |

I could be wrong. Maybe it was just a rumor I overheard.

Look at the Eagles, Giants, Detroit, and many other. All it takes is an NFL proven WR's coach to teach/develope the ones we have. If I was Zorn, between worrying about my job and planning my future and setting up the next game plan I would fire Hixon and look for any "available" NFL qualified WR coach to see if he can get anything out of the ones we have. Even though it's secondary to O-line issues and blocking. |

Maybe bottom of the top 10 is alright, but a top 5 pick is just not worth the risk in $, assuming a cba is signed & there's a cap. Plus, danny might want to draft a qb, which scares me. |

It would help if they got open too.
I personally think Stan Hixon has failed us in so many ways I'm amazed he's actually stuck around. |

and if they were in serious "shop mode", half the fans would be criticizing Snyder for buying when we don't know who the coach will be. I may sound like a Snyder apologist, I am probably closer than most on this board, but what fries me, is no matter what move is made easily a third of this board and 90% of the mediots are going to be criticizing him for the action or inaction. |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Considering that the trade deadline has past all there is to do right now is wait and see what happens this offseason. I just hope that there will be something to cheer about between now and then.

It just doesn’t seem like there is a whole lot cooking. A lot of talk but not much action, which is the norm. There will be a few deals for sure, and there’s always a surprise out there, but I’m not sure it’s going to be blockbuster city. (Not that I ever was, but you’re always hoping for interesting stories and developments, and who doesn’t like trade talk?) Anyway, the Eagles, Patriots and Ravens are among the teams looking to be buyers, while the Chiefs, Bucs and Raiders are among those most interested in selling. After the season-ending injury to NT Kris Jenkins, the high-spending Jets are looking at options, and I’d rate Chiefs DT Glenn Dorsey as someone who they have at least a slim chance of acquiring. While Cleveland DE Corey Williams is generating some interest, the Browns continue to rebuff all overtures for Josh Cribbs (and the calls have continued to come). The Rams have received calls on RB Steven Jackson but are adamant about not trading him, according to a league source. But franchise-tender safety O.J. Atogwe might be worth an interested team making a call on. As I reported Sunday morning on “NFL GameDay Morning,” the Bills are steadfast that they have no interest in trading WR Terrell Owens. As of Monday, only one team had called, with only cursory interest (the club called Buffalo about another player and then inquired briefly about Owens’ availability at the end of the call, according to a source). But, we’ll see. Still a few hours to go, and maybe we get something meaty before the 4 p.m. ET deadline. |

Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
If the Jets miss on Rodgers and Dorsey, any chance they would be interested in Anthony Montgomery as a nose? Would seem like a good match all around. Apologies if that was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
I for one am glad that the trade deadline has passed without our mortgaging more of our future. Perhaps Vinny has spent his last Redskins draft pick.
